Dear Colleague

It is heartening to know that the city of Bhubaneswar is going to host the 16 th National Congress of Indian

Association of Gastro Intestinal Endosurgeons. The theme of the Congress is “Expanding new horizons and

meeting new challenges.” I am sure that the organizers led by dynamic leader Dr. Sreejoy Pattnaik are going

to make it a surgical feat par excellence for all members at various levels of surgical ladder.

We have all witnessed the sudden surge of interest in our courses, fellowships and training programmes

over the last couple of years. Several new Fellowship and FALS courses have been conceptualized and

added to IAGES activities. Our association leaders are coming up with many more new ideas & newer

concepts are being worked on to keep pace with the rapid scientific changes and challenges.

Let us meet in Bhubaneswar to take stock of all these and indulge in crystal gazing into the future of MAS. I

am sure the city of Bhubaneswar will provide us the ideal milieu for this exercise. I wish the Organizing team

all my best for the grand success of the event and request all colleagues to visit the historic city of

Bhubaneswar to enjoy the affectionate and warm hospitality of the people of Orissa.

It is indeed a great pleasure to welcome you all for 16th Annual Congress of Indian Association of

Gastrointestinal Endo Surgeons (IAGES) at Bhubaneswar. Congress will be held in the second week of

February, 2019 which is indeed a great season to visit Odisha.

IAGES has travelled a long academic journey from 1993 till now and organization has more than 6000 active

members. Over last 25 years, IAGES has spread knowledge and skill of Laparoscopic Surgery to all the

nooks and corners of India. During the calendar year, IAGES organizes variety of academic programs such

as FIAGES, FALS, EFIAGES, Suturing & Knotting Workshop, Mid-term Conference etc. This all events

culminate into the National Congress. During the National Congress, there is a Grand Convocation

Ceremony in which Fellowship Certificates of each courses are distributed. This is a once in a lifetime

experience for many members and not to be missed.

The Local organizing committee under the leadership of Dr C R Das and Dr Sreejoy Patnaik along with

Central IAGES committee under the leadership of dynamic leader Dr Subhash Khanna are doing their best

to showcase before you an International level Congress. I am sure this will be a very memorable event.

Greetings from the IAGES 2019 Organising Committee !

It gives us immense pleasure & privilege to invite you to the 16th National Congress of IAGES (Indian

Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons) 2019, to be held from February 7-9, 2019, at Bhubaneswar,

Odisha.

The Indian Association of Gastrointestinal Endosurgeons (IAGES) is an organisation of surgeons formed

to promote & spread the advancement of Endoscopic surgery throughout India & beyond. The

advancements in technology has resulted in significant changes in treatment of patients. IAGES, is a

growing & dynamic organisation.

IAGES 2019, having the theme of “Expanding new horizons and meeting new challenges”, aims at sharing

the significant strides made in the field of minimal invasive surgery, both in endoscopy & laparoscopy.

This social & academic event is being organised by IAGES ODISHA TEAM for the 1st time.

It will be an academic feast with the finest congregation of national & international faculty, who will share

their knowledge & expertise, and contribute to the development of future trends in laparoscopic

surgeries.

It would provide a great opportunity for learning, sharing your experiences, and meeting the stalwarts in

the field of Minimal Access Surgery.

The conference will feature workshops, CME lectures, scientific sessions; with various national &

international exhibitors showcasing the latest that science & technology has to offer. This conference

would provide an excellent platform for presenting research work, new ideas, and learning new skills from

the hands-on pre-congress workshop on February 6.
