Q magazine was originally called Que, (as in the action of cueing a record), but the name was then
changed so it wouldn’t be mistaken for a snooker magazine.
Billboard magazine was originally called Billboard Advertising as it was a trade paper for the bill posting industry,. The magazine
then began to release information on music entertainment, such as fairs and show details. Shortly after this it then became a
music magazine.
The rolling stone magazine was named after a variety of music links, there was obviously the famous rock band
‘The Rolling Stones’ who everybody assumes it’s named after, however Rollin' Stone, written recorded by Muddy
Waters was a key influence on the name.
NME stands for ‘New Musical Express’. It was originally called the "Accordion Times and Musical Express“. The magazine was then
taken under new management and it was re-launched as the New Musical Express.
