Where the wild things are• Where the wild things are is a picture book by writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak.• The book is hand drawn and the book is mostly a picture book as there is only little

text. The colours in the book used are dark as the book is set at night time. The book is drawn in a cartoon style.

• The images take up most of the pages and there is only a little amount of text, this is because the pictures are used to tell the story as well as the text.

• The fonts are very simple plain black fonts,this is because the main focus of the book is the pictures.

• The author of the book is called Maurice Sendak and was originally published by Harper and Row. Maurice Sendak was an American illustrator and writer of different children's books but he become mostly known from his book ‘where the wild things are’.

• In the book the pages with the text on is just a simple plain white page with simple text across the page telling the story along with the pictures.

• There are 40 pages in Where the wild things are.

The ugly duckling• The ugly duckling is a fairy tale by Danish Poet and author Hans Christian

Andersen.• The original book uses simple hand drawn pictures without colour, the original

book was released in 1844.• The fonts used are simple and the font colour is dark text over a lighter

background.• The tale has been adapted to various other media including Opera, musical and animated film.

• The publisher of the ugly duckling is called C.A Reitzel.• The story is about a little bird who is born in a a barnyard that suffers abuse from

others around him until, he matures into a beautiful swan, “the most beautiful bird of all”. The message in the story is about personal transformation for the better.

Little red Riding Hood• ‘Little red ridinghood’ also known as ‘Little red cap’ is a fairy tale about a young girl

and a big bad wolf.• Little red riding hood is written by authors Charles Perrault and Jacob Grimm.• The origins of the little red ridinghood story can be traced to versions from

European countries and more than likely preceding of 17th century which are different from the known, Grimms – inspired version.
