NEWS IN BRIEF

KAZAM ADDING VALUE FOR SMARTPHONES

Growing European mobile manufacturer, Kazam, is working with Exertis to bring its new LTE smartphones to the British market. Exertis is offering the KAZAM Trooper 440L and KAZAM Trooper 450L, alongside KAZAM’s top of the range KAZAM Tornado 455L, within the UK.

Simon Woodman, Director of Mobile at Exertis, commented: “Increasing customer demand for cutting-edge technology, more power and longer battery life in their mobile phones means that price is no longer the sole purchasing driver.

“However, while consumers and business users are willing to pay more for the right device for them, they are also seeking a balance

for the best value smartphone,” Woodman added. “KAZAM’s Trooper 440L, KAZAM Trooper 450L and KAZAM Tornado 455L provide the best of both worlds, ticking boxes for technology, budget and also giving that extra value with KAZAM’s unique service proposition. Without a doubt, working with KAZAM strengthens the Exertis portfolio and our ability to respond to a wider array of multi-channel requirements.”

Combined with KAZAM’s trademark proposition of free screen protection for 12 months, KAZAM Rescue and a three year warranty, the Trooper range is hard to beat for value. Speak to Exertis to bring these devices to your customers.

The global mobile phone market is expected to reach 2.35bn units in 2019, up from 1.96bn in 2014, according to the latest worldwide forecast by technology analyst firm CCS Insight.

Despite continued growth in emerging markets, sales in developed markets, notably Western Europe and North America, are close to saturation and are poised to peak in 2017, before falling to lower levels. Other connected gadgets such as tablets, smartwatches and fitness trackers increasingly compete for disposable income. This is where the innovation is.

Apple’s iPhone easily takes the lion’s share of revenue and profit: in 2014, its global smartphone revenue share reached 37% on a 15.1% share by volume. It already has a foothold in new high growth markets such as China, India and Indonesia where it’s seen as a badge of success.

iOS and Android represent more than 95% of worldwide smartphone sales in 2015. However, in 2016, over 30% of Android smartphone shipments will not offer Google services. The only possible player then is Microsoft.

SMARTPHONE SALES TO PEAK IN 2017

GOING 2-IN-1 FOR EFFICIENCY AND POWER

A NEW VECTOR IN SMARTWATCHES

POWERING UP WITH USB 3.0

Smartphones, tablets and even the phablet are beginning to merge, with devices such as Exertis’ Linx 1010 device bringing Wi-Fi connectivity to a highly portable screen.

The Linx 1010 includes a powerful Quad-Core Intel processor, bringing all the features of the latest Windows operating system to its stunning 10.1 inch display that allows the user to stay productive and entertained, at an affordable price for the consumer or business user.

Additionally, the Linx 1010 can be docked into the official Linx 1010 Keyboard Dock to seamlessly transform the tablet into a powerful 2-in-1 device for a versatile Windows experience, both touch and type.

Speak to your Exertis account manager today.

New entrant to the smartwatch arena, UK-based Vector Watch, recently launched its new range of devices, all of which are based on cutting-edge functionality and intuition. The devices, which resemble at first glance ‘normal’ watches, include the round-faced Luna and the rectangular-faced Meridian smartwatch models, which pay homage to the minimalism of the traditional wristwatch with a sleek, understated look and a focus on simplicity and style.

Manufactured from stainless steel for a refined and precise finish, each smartwatch delivers a 30 day battery life and offer convenient multi-platform compatibility with iOS, Android and Windows smartphones.

Using native intuition, a sensor-activated notification system allows users to acknowledge or dismiss messages with the turn of a wrist, while built-in contextual awareness allows the device to understand and respond to patterns in user behaviour.

The simple design of the Luna case has been enhanced by a stainless steel, linear brushed finish. The high polished top ring and button details contrast the case while the solid stainless steel three link bracelet completes the look.

These watches are available today from Exertis. Speak to your Exertis account manager to learn more.

USB 3.0 is set to change the way we work and play. Making charging and transferring data many times faster than is currently possible using USB 2.0, USB 3.0 marks a major transition in the power and data transfer category.

Set to be universally available across all brands, USB 3.0 is the next major revision to the USB ports currently used in the market, which are 2.0. Offering the same ease of use and complete back-compatibility, USB 3.0 will make charging devices and transferring data, such as downloading documents or films, significantly faster, with 10X performance increase and better power management than USB 2.0.

This performance increase is created with USB 3.0 technology that allows multiple streams of data transfer simultaneously, and boosts peak signalling bandwidth to 5Gbps, versus a mere 480Mbps with USB 2.0.

While devices using USB 2.0 ports will only operate at their maximum performance parameters, eventually expect to see all devices coming out with USB 3.0.

5G IS COMING

Fifth generation mobile networks are well under way in terms of research and development, with companies and industry bodies around the globe working to bring this tech to market. Recently the University of Surrey opened its state-of-the-art 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC), securing the UK’s role in leading the development of 5G.

Housing over 170 researchers and attracting over £70 million of investment, including £12 million from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), the 5GIC is the world’s largest academic research centre dedicated to next generation mobile and wireless connectivity. The Centre brings together leading academic expertise and major industry partners, including Telefonica, Vodafone, Huawei, EE, the BBC, Samsung and Ofcom.

Professor Rahim Tafazolli, director of the 5GIC, said: “While we have already achieved record-breaking speeds, 5G is not only about delivering faster mobile Internet. It is a transformative set of technologies that will radically change our private and professional lives by enabling innovative applications and services, such as remote healthcare, wireless robots, driverless cars and connected homes and cities, removing boundaries between the real and cyber worlds.”

Also recently, Ericsson announced the expansion of its cross-industry 5G research and development programme to a range of European markets. The 5G for Europe programme will bring together major industrial players, the public sector and leading universities across Europe to strengthen the continent’s competitiveness and maximise the benefits of the networked society, Ericsson claimed.

SECURITY ECOSYSTEMS - MOBILE, TABLET TO PCSecurity is a vital area of the mobile ecosystem, from smartphones and tablets, back to the desktop. From mobile device management to biometric security, to tracking, tracing and wiping devices from remote locations, it is possible to protect both personal users and the enterprise. Samsung Android brings KNOX 2.4 defence-grade security and privacy to the smartphone, while Microsoft’s Windows 10 offers enhanced Windows Defender and Smart Screen to help safeguard against viruses, malware and phishing.

WEARABLES CONTINUING TO GROWThe wearable tech market is continuing to boom, with smartwatches from the likes of Samsung, LG and Vector Watch pushing market trends, to fitbands from Jawbone and Fitbit continuing to see success. LG Watch Urbane and Samsung’s Gear S2 and the Gear S2 classic are the latest devices in the market to bring high end technology to people’s wrists, while newcomers are still making headway, including Vector Watch, with its premium aesthetic, contextual awareness and intuitive user interface.

MOBILE TRENDSMOBILE PAYMENT INCREASEMobile payment services are on the increase, with Apple and Google finally joining Samsung Pay, which launched its service in March this year. Yet while all three services use near field communication (NFC), only Samsung Pay uses Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST), which allows consumers to use secure mobile payments at nearly all merchant locations as it is usable at any retailer that accepts debit and credit cards. However, trendsetter Apple is set to drive eyeballs to mobile payment, and to help push usage up.

CUSTOMERS IN THE MARKET FOR VALUECustomers today are scouring the mobility market for value, looking at balancing the cost of their devices with the maximum technology for their buck, no matter the price point. Brands are looking to maximise on this search for value in their own way, with Sony now recognised for its high screen quality, bringing out its 4K display smartphone, the Xperia Z5 Premium, plus LG is now known for its beautiful designs and crystal-clear HD viewing. Meanwhile, Microsoft brings its assistant Cortana and an entire ecosystem from phone to desktop to its brand, and Samsung is the company with leading-edge technology and design, with the S6 edge+.

Home automation systems may have been available in the UK for many years, it is only recently that consumers are beginning to take notice of some of the tangible benefits that these products can provide. The areas that have seen the most practical use have been in home security, lighting, energy-saving devices and home entertainment and these are set to continue to grow.

With this plethora of products and an increasing number of suppliers in home automation, mobile dealers need the support of an established and respected partner to advise how to move into this market. The connected home has been part of Exertis business for some time, beginning with wireless in the home, broadband and media sharing. Now we are taking this to the next level.

By combining our specialist knowledge of the home automation market with our renowned expertise and range of services, and our wide experience in the IT and AV sectors, Exertis has a Smart Home offering that is unprecedented in the industry. So what is driving a market estimated to be worth around £160 million by next year? Familiarity helps. Smartphones, tablets, games consoles, smartwatches, fitness trackers, virtual reality headsets and other connected devices are now increasingly competing for consumers’ attention. People are becoming used to putting ever more content across mobile networks, from calls and texts, onto streaming music and playing videos. Now we are going a step further, controlling our lighting, heating, security and helping those that require assisted living with advances in the same type of technology. Key to all this, an app on a user’s smartphone or tablet linked into the Wi-Fi or home network. Instant ‘alerts’ to your Smartphone add significant and immediate value.

With a growing number of Smart Home products in the market from different manufacturers, there is the inevitable question about compatibility, so a drive to standardise home automation technologies and protocols is welcome. Consolidation has already commenced with 3 main players developing the Eco System: Apple, Google and Samsung.

BANDWIDTH REQUIREDSmartphones have increased the need for Wi-Fi, and with multiple service users in each household, fatter bandwidth is required. Yet sometimes, Wi-Fi is not enough to connect a home. Answering that issue is direct local area network (dLAN) powerline systems, which enables home users to connect their PCs, consumer electronics and other network-compatible devices to the Internet, creating a connected high speed network for home users, without laying cables, and ensuring the ability of connected technologies to operate seamlessly.

SMART TECH EXPERTISE AT EXERTIS Our product specialists can provide expert help in product selection of home automation systems with a number of ready-made starter kits available for retailers to offer their customers. In addition, we can

provide a range of merchandising and display options to help explain the market opportunities to consumers and arrange product and vendor training for sales staff as required.

Furthermore, as this market develops we can advise on the fast moving products that will create additional footfall and also keep you abreast of new products entering the market as the continued trend towards ‘the Internet of things’ is likely to result in increased connectivity within home networks and include more intelligent home appliances such as fridges, washing machines, cooking utensils and even robots to vacuum the house or cut the grass.

With Smart Tech from Exertis, you have an established partner ready to help you add this category to your retail experience and a proposition that can make a real difference to getting you started or driving increased sales.

Microsoft Devices and Services are rapidly evolving, changing the experience on the desktop to the mobile phone. Our devices today are no longer designed to serve simply one purpose; they are multifunctional tools that help us manage our

daily lives in ways that make us more productive, by keeping us connected and saving us time.

MAKING A CHOICEThe dependence on mobile has resulted in a vast choice for business users when considering not only what mobile device to choose, but what operating system. From Microsoft’s Windows 10 to Apple’s iOS to Google’s Android, there is a gamut of options to be debated by any company looking for a new technological path.

However, when held up against each other, two of the three leading mobile operating systems have issues that businesses need to consider carefully. For those looking at iOS, there is an associated cost for these premium end devices that will undoubtedly add up for a business. On the other hand is Android, which while open and often incredibly affordable, sometimes runs into security issues.

Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Lumia is undeniably designed for all sizes of enterprise, as each Lumia includes world-renowned software from Microsoft Office and search engine Bing, to Microsoft’s own mobile personal assistant, Cortana. Additionally, all this popular software is available on everything, from PCs to tablets to smartphones, so there is no need for business users to struggle with switching from one operating system to the next throughout the day.

With this easy to use, universally familiar operating system from Microsoft, businesses can increase their productivity as Windows simply implements across any business ecosystem, and keeps it secure. It is easy for businesses to run enterprise solutions across the entire network with offline data syncing, store, share and recover data, as well as encode, stream and store audio and video. Additionally, companies will find it easy to build and deploy web and mobile apps for all devices with Windows 10, and can also run detailed analytics.

WINDOWS 10 FOR BUSINESSLumia with Windows 8.1 is now set to become even better with the release of Windows 10, which is enabling businesses and consumers to increase their productivity and enjoyment on the go. Launched in July 2015, Microsoft’s Windows 10 is a new generation of Windows. Windows 10 marks the beginning of a more personal computing era in the mobile-first, Cloud-first world, bringing flexibility to users to work how and when they want to, from the office at a desktop, to a tablet on the train, to a smartphone from the sofa at home.

Windows 10 is designed to be compatible with the hardware, software and peripherals the user already owns. Also, free updates will help keep users current on features and security while OneDrive online storage means users can easily share and keep files up to date across all devices.

Microsoft additionally stated that in a world of cyber threats, Windows 10 is the most secure Windows ever, offering enhanced Windows Defender and Smart Screen to help safeguard against viruses, malware and phishing. Windows 10 builds everything that businesses need right into the core of the product, including enterprise-grade security, identity and information protection features, in ways that can reduce complexities and provide better experiences than other solutions.

Key features and improvements of Windows 10 include: new apps such as Office, Mail and Calendar, and Photos; IP-based messaging from Skype and others integrated directly into the messaging experience; an entirely new browsing experience with the new Project Spartan browser; and extended integration of the Cortana personal assistant.

SIMPLE SYNERGY FOR THE BUSINESS USERGiven the changing way people work today, in or out of the office, Windows 10 integrates the Cloud with the PC, meaning it can be adapted for use simply between phone and the desktop; running effortlessly on the smallest form factors to the largest screens, along with the main corporate network. This ensures your customers can now branch-out across multiple devices, yet still enjoy a unified and consistent user experience.

The simplicity and ease of use of Windows 10 also does not appear to involve any compromise to the depth of innovation on offer with Windows 10. For instance, another standout feature includes Surface Hub - which is pioneering an increasingly collaborative approach to meetings by combining Skype and HD video - to give video conferencing a sleek makeover.

In essence, this giant tablet with a touchscreen display enables several participants to gather around and interact instantly and at once with minimum fuss. Housing several of Microsoft’s kinect motion sensors, the screen can notice and pick up audio in the room and be run on any app. It’s set to replace some of the traditional components such as teleconference technology and projectors with their accompanying cables and chaos.

BEST VALUE PROPOSITIONEvolving the value proposition for businesses, Microsoft has launched the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL smartphones. The top of the range Lumia 640 XL is an office on the go, providing the mobility that all users want. Microsoft Office is built in, so users can access Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote right out of the box. Users can also make edits to documents on the go and save them to the Cloud with up to 30GB of free OneDrive storage.

Plus, to run all of Microsoft’s business-ready features, the Lumia 640 XL comes with the latest Windows OS, powerful Quad-Core processor, and a long-lasting battery.

Lumia does indeed seem fully prepared for all a business can throw at it and can provide a business solution for all. In the face of the competition, it is the only operating system that has business use inherently at its heart, and thanks to Microsoft’s deep knowledge of the enterprise, it must be the first choice for the enterprise.

Wearable technology for our health and fitness is a dynamic and fast evolving category. From beginnings in simple notifications and the mobile app world, it has swiftly moved on to become part of users’ lives. From heart rate monitors, calorie counting, and

smart coaching, broadening out into the world of smartbands and smartwatches, health and fitness is here.

This sector has come a long way in a very short space of time, and has even spawned the growth of other related categories, including home automation and contactless payments.

Tracking our fitness with apps and wearable accessories is making us stronger and healthier, while motivating us to set goals and to reach them.

Connected health and fitness is set to boom over the next five years from the beginning of 2015, with the market for smart wireless in the healthcare and fitness arena due to be a $1.8 billion market by 2019, according to Juniper Research.

BOOMING HEALTH MARKET More and more people are turning to fitness trackers and smartwatches. In five years’ time Juniper estimates there will be 13 million users subscribing to wireless healthcare and fitness device services per annum.

However, how much use are these devices to end users in reality? Are they as accurate as they need to be to provide genuinely useful feedback? How often should users be monitoring themselves to be able to see change? What is the point of them?

These are questions that experts have asked of this category since it began to emerge. Yet, even though the answers can sometimes be vague, sales of fitness trackers and smartwatches continue to rocket. The reason for this is these devices are primarily desired by end users for their motivational functions.

Whether a smartband knows exactly how long its user’s stride is to be able to accurately tell them at the end of the day how many miles they have covered does not matter; if the user is told they normally walk three miles a day, on the day they only make it to one mile, they are motivated to make up for the missing steps over following days. It is this sense of being able to track how we perform that is important, from a good day’s exercise to a good night’s sleep, and that is why the health and fitness wearables category is growing.

SMARTWATCH CREDIBILITYEvery year more smartwatches are being announced by manufacturers, and now major fashion and watch brands are joining with smartphone makers to create these devices as the credibility of the smartwatch increases. To that end, Gfk said that SIM-free smartwatch sales grew by 105.8% from July last year to June 2015, with its European data showing that the smartwatch category grew at an impressive pace of over 126% in volume in the first half of 2015 versus first half of 2014.

LG Watch Urbane was the first smartwatch released globally that was powered by the latest version of Android Wear, both of which were announced earlier this year. LG Watch Urbane works seamlessly with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above. Some of the features available for the first time on any Android Wear device include Wi-Fi connectivity, always-on apps to keep the display from going dark when running, and an improved UX that makes launching apps and getting in touch with friends easier than ever before.

Meanwhile, Samsung recently announced up and coming smartwatches, the Gear S2 and the Gear S2 classic. New fitness functions to be available on the Samsung Gear S2 when launched will encourage consumers to stay healthy and active, said Samsung, as a 24 hour activity log will let users view daily activity progress and patterns at a glance, as well as sending reminder updates to motivate users to stay on track with their fitness goals.

POPULAR FITNESS BANDS While smartwatches are in the spotlight this year, CCS Insight said fitness bands from companies such as Fitbit and Jawbone will continue to dominate the wearables market, building on their explosive growth in 2014.

CCS Insight analyst George Jijiashvili observed that, “We expect sales of fitness and activity devices to double in 2015 to 40 million units,” and he added: “Smart fitness devices do one thing and do it well; they measure activity with the goal of improving owners’ well-being. This, combined with lower retail prices, longer battery life and a strong head start in terms of adoption, suggests that these devices will outperform smartwatches for several years to come.”

Jawbone UP 3 is a smartband that provides a simple way to track fitness and monitor health, from knowing how many calories the owner burned throughout the day to motivate them to burn more, to advanced bioimpedance sensors that are able to automatically track the user’s resting heart rate and use that information to help them take care of their heart in a more proactive way.

The future for health and fitness wearable technology is stronger than it has ever been, and Exertis has championed this sector since its early days. This category is set to carry on growing rapidly as these devices are integrated further with end user’s beloved smartphones and with daily life and health.

Talk to Exertis to ensure you keep up with the latest trends and increase wearable tech sales, with  our full product portfolio and specialist advice.

Smartphones have overtaken laptops as the most popular device for getting online, research from UK regulator, Ofcom, has shown, with record ownership and use transforming the way we communicate during our working lives, from both the office and in the field.

With smartphones now the hub of daily lives, Ofcom said they are in the pockets of 66% of UK adults, primarily aged between 18 – 51 years of age. Smartphones provide a crossover device between home and the office; yet what happens when an expensive smartphone is taken into a work environment that involves users being on the go, surviving the elements or in more dangerous situations?

ENABLING FLEXIBILITYAs smartphones have become more sophisticated they have tended to become more fragile. Mobile device and protective gear manufacturers are constantly working to create phones that can survive and keep going under any conditions.

Mobile technology is designed to enable workers to have the utmost flexibility, increasing productivity and control. Yet many workers, from medics to foremen to electricians, work in environments that require a device that can keep up with not only the demands of their type of work, but where they work.

A ruggedised, portable solution that can handle the demands of today’s challenging business environments is needed, whether that be in terms of protection from tough case makers such as Otterbox and Tech 21, or from devices that have the stamina and attributes needed to keep workers working, such as Sony’s new additions to the Xperia family of devices.

Everyone can stay connected in real-time with high power availability on the move. Users do not need to worry if their tough devices are dropped in dangerous situations or need to be used in pouring rain, thanks to devices with anti-shock covering and IP67 certification.

As well as being striking to look at and comfortable to hold, the Xperia Z5 range is also tough enough to survive in conditions that require a rugged device. Extreme environments are increasing the importance of IP67, and Sony has answered that with its Xperia Z5 series being waterproof up to 1.5 metres, making these cutting-edge smartphones an option for workers in the field that want more than just a strong feature phone.

Both the Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, featuring Octa-Core CPUs,

64 bit capabilities and ultra-fast 4G LTE speeds, enabling users anywhere in the field to reach new levels of performance for work use, from downloading email with attachments to watching educational videos streamed with no delays or unwanted buffering.

KEEPING PROTECTEDFor those out in the field using devices that need added protection, cases are available that will provide the durability needed. For complete protection in rugged environments, Otterbox enables workers to use smart tech in tough environments, from protection of devices in extreme conditions, to protection that reduces downtime when the situation is critical, as well as safety from device damage and breakage, all of which results in keeping employees productive

and efficient on the go.

For those that need defensive protection in a more slimline cover, there is Tech 21’s range of cases that

use Thermoplastic Polyurethane, nicknamed TPU, to protect; a useful plastic renowned for its

excellent elasticity, flexibility and abrasive resistance to impact, weather, tear, oil

and grease, TPU is a perfect ingredient in the making of intelligent impact

protective cases.

Tech 21 uses TPU to create cases that are soft and rubbery until they are dropped or knocked,

when the TPU instantly hardens to create a strong shell that both deflects and absorbs the impact, thus

saving the device.

STAYING POWERED UPFor teams of field workers, businesses can keep them out of the office and on the road for longer with devices that have longer battery lives, supplemented by easily replaceable back-up batteries for uninterrupted working; Sony’s Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact are equipped with Sony’s two-day battery stamina and power-saving technology, which gives long-lasting battery performance. Also, with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 enabled on the new devices, users can get 5.5 hours usage with just 10 minutes of charging with a certified Quick Charge 2.0 charger.

No matter how tough the working conditions and whether a rugged device is needed or just extra protection for a cutting-edge device, there is always a solution to keeping all workers mobile. Exertis can help you to keep your customers working, no matter how tough the conditions. Speak to us for more details.

A GUIDE TO MAKING THE BEST BUSINESS USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

Harnessing this active and engaged audience is an essential part of any modern business, but the options can be somewhat bewildering to begin with. Which platforms do you support? What content works? To help ensure you’re on the right track we’ve put together a short guide to getting the most out of this exciting and expanding medium.

CHOOSE YOUR PLATFORMSSocial media comes in a range of flavours – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, Pinterest, Periscope, Ello, and a range of other dedicated services. Trying to keep up with all of them would require a dedicated team of content creators, and in truth provide diminishing returns for the effort. To keep things simple, manageable, and yield the greatest return it’s best to pick just the very biggest ones – Facebook and Twitter are the obvious choice - and ignore the others.

MAKE CONTENT MOBILEFigures show that 80% of all Facebook activity in the UK takes place on a mobile device, with 70% of the UK’s 15 million Twitter users also accessing the service primarily through their smartphones and

tablets. With this in mind it’s very important to create content that works best on the smaller screen. Text should be short, to the point, and accompanied by a clear image that works best on a small scale. Remember you’re competing with potentially hundreds of other messages every minute, so standing out is very important.

JOIN THE CONVERSATIONSocial media is exactly that, social, therefore it’s incredibly important not to treat it as simply another broadcast medium. Think of the service as a conversation you might have with a customer in your shop or on the telephone. Highlight your best deals, promotions, and exclusives, while listening to the responses. With polite, efficient service, and creative content you can quickly build trust and even a fan-base, as recent figures show that in the UK 62% of Twitter users follow brands.

USE SEARCH TOOLS STRATEGICALLYCreate searches for your company name and respond directly to any queries or complaints you find. Also use keywords to find disgruntled customers of rival businesses, then talk to them about how your platform would meet their needs. We recommend using the Hootsuite and Tweetdeck software, as they both monitor searches automatically.

RESPECT THE USERThere are fewer things more annoying for a mobile user than pop-up or takeover ads that prove difficult to close. If you want customers to visit your site, and preferably return, find a way to disable these annoying and intrusive advertisements. Mobile browsing is quick and casual, so anything that slows it down or makes it confusing is a bad idea.

Social media may be seen by some as the home of cat videos and photographed food, but in a few short years it has gone from fun distraction to many people’s

primary source of media and news. Facebook alone has over thirty million users in the UK, and is predicted to grow a further two million by 2018.

Exertis has extended its range of retail services to include electronic software distribution through Exertis Digital. Faster, simpler and less expensive than

With Exertis Digital, there is no upfront investment required in buying, shipping or stocking physical products in store. Moreover, it eliminates all freight and stock rotation costs and ensures that no products are lost through shipment errors, theft or damage. Retailers benefit from more efficient and better use of shelf space whilst promoting an even greater selection of the latest titles and customers can easily download their purchase conveniently at home.

Through Exertis Digital, retailers can sell Xbox Live digital codes, Microsoft Office products and games in the knowledge that the products are always available, making it easier to increase the in-store attach rate to a hardware sale whilst consumers have a convenient and more eco-friendly way of selecting the products they wish to purchase.

Retailers and small businesses can still use their existing Exertis credit account to purchase these effectively on a consignment basis, obtained online in the easy-to-use portal. The process is simple and hassle free for both the retailer/small business and the consumer. In the comfort of their own home or office, the consumer activates the code and downloads the software over the Internet using their choice of hardware device.

Microsoft’s Pawan Bhardwaj said, “Digital codes offer the unique opportunity for retailers to promote the thousands of great games, software and add-ons available within the marketplace without being exposed on stock. Not only that, but the customer experience becomes more personalised than ever before. Local stores can help to select innovative and exciting titles and office products that might be overlooked by some of the more publicised games. With Exertis Digital, retailers have a chance to grasp the digital opportunity to ensure they are offering customers what they want, which is a combination of disc and digital products”.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF JOINING EXERTIS DIGITAL? • Free, easy-to-use digital model• Quick, in-store turnaround time when selling digital codes• All products sold on consignment basis i.e. you only pay us after your customers pay you• Increase product breadth with no stock risk and 100% availability• Account manager and marketing support• Consistent updates and retailer feedback improvements planned
