Charitable Gift Annuities are one way to help yourself and your favorite charity.

The Long Beach City College Foundation participates in a consortium with the Community College League of California to offer gift annuities. The older you are, the higher the benefits. An eighty-five year old donor recently established an annuity. She receives a guaranteed 7.8% annually on her donation plus an income tax charitable deduction. If you are interested in the details, call Elizabeth McCann at the Foundation office 562-938-4139 as soon as possible. Although you can set up the annuity anytime, you might want to do it before the end of the calendar year to take full advantage. This is a mutually beneficial way to “Leave a Legacy” and help yourself at the same time.

College & Foundation AwardsWe would like to recognize the following LBCC Colleagues and Foundation Governors for their contributions in continuing to make LBCC an outstanding institution.

LBCC Foundation Governor, James Callahan, received the 2016 President’s Award for his dedication and support of the LBCC Foundation. Callahan has been a member of the PCC Vocational Associates, President’s Platinum Circle, Scholarship Committee as well as supporting the College’s mission.

The Long Beach City College Foundation recently received some surprise bequests totaling over $10,000 from the estates of Martha Drage and Lois Perovich. Of course, we appreciate these gifts immensely! Martha and Lois were special friends to us, and their bequests demonstrate their kind generosity. And these financial gifts will certainly help us to accomplish our mission to help our students.

We never had the opportunity to express our gratitude to them for such kindness. We were unable to let them know how much their gifts would mean. If only we had known, we could have said, “Thank you.” We encourage our friends to let us know when the LBCC Foundation is included in their estate plans. Not only will we express our appreciation, but we can make sure they are kept up-to-date with all the developments here at LBCC.
