H ello Empowered Women,

Wow! What an amazing summer I’ve had.

My 2 young girls are growing and becoming very aware of their environment, so I decided to take some time off work and treat the month of August as a holiday, enjoying the time with my beautiful daughters and my husband.

It was such a refreshing break for me considering the fact that the last time I had such a break was when I was on maternity leave with my 2nd child and that was 3 years ago. This rest period did me a world of good and I enjoyed every minute of it. However the highlight for me was watching my daughters 3 and 5 years grow up before my eyes, developing some character traits that I can recognise in me and my husband, listening to their conversations and wondering to myself, what do they really talk about. Sorting out their banter and reprimanding them for their sometimes ‘cheeky’ behaviours. All this is what I enjoyed and I can confidently say that I am sending them back to school with an awareness of how much they’ve grown and the first signs of their personality gifts.

I can also say that I’ve grown and matured in my thinking, the season challenged me to wait on God for answers, clarity and direction that only He could give me (and when I say wait, I mean literally BEING STILL in me, not allowing any issues, situations, circumstances no matter how important they were to get to me). I was also challenged to clean my house (heart) so that I can hear God’s Whisper in the waiting..

Now it’s back to work, and we’re in a new season and I have so much to share with you over the coming months. This new season is a season where you need to spiritually posi-tion yourself so that you can receive the wisdom you need to bring about the necessary resource and provision needed to accomplish various projects that you’ve been carrying throughout the year. We’re in a new season and it’s a season of the manifestation of su-pernatural provision. Like Abraham who was preparing to kill Isaac and offer him for a sacrifice, and was interrupted by the angel of the Lord who called out to him not to kill his son, but to look up because God had already provided a ram for the sacrifice, that’s how easy it is to receive God’s best in His Time. Mentoring for Purpose ProgrammeMentoring for Purpose Programme

In the last two and half years The Mentoring Academy has empowered wom-

en to discover their gifts and discover and move into fulfilling their divine pur-

pose.

The Empowered Woman Leadership Mentoring for Purpose Programme has

empowered women to discover their gifts, launch out into purpose and fulfil

their call for the Body of Christ. This is not just any programme, but a pro-

gramme with a difference.

A prophetic word is needed to propel one into their destiny to fulfil purpose.

Those who attend the programme are in need of direction and that direction is

brought forth from the word and mouth of God.

We’ve had so many testimonies from the programme of women who have

discovered their spiritual gifts and are using them in the area of writing, crea-

tive mentoring, encouraging, motivating, teaching all in an effort to transform

the lives and bring hope to others.

We are presently recruiting for the next group which will be an online programme. If you are interested in being part of this

programme, please complete the registration form provided.

Since doing the programme, I have met with like-minded, positive people on a similar path and wavelength to mine and I finally feel like I belong and everything makes sense. I could talk for hours and hours with these women and agree with all that they say. I have had so many 'OMG' moments, where answers to questions, which I have long been searching for are finally answered and make sense. Jackie's powerful, strong, self assured delivery has made the programme what it is and I am constantly astounded by her presence, strength and grace. I am the happiest I have ever been since doing this programme as I feel more in control, stable and self assured. I also believe that I am happy due to having found my pur-pose. I believe I was put on this earth in order to have gone through my trials and tribulations so that I could help others with theirs. I now look back on these trials and tribulations in a positive way and am thankful to them for shaping me into who I am today and If I can help just one other person, it will have all been worthwhile. MARCIA DIXON DIRECTOR MD PUBLIC MARCIA DIXON DIRECTOR MD PUBLIC RELATIONSRELATIONS

Marcia Dixon is one of the most well known Public Relations specialists within the black Christian community.

She has excellent relationships with key movers and shakers within the church community, as well as the media, and is

able to utilise these to good effect for the benefit of clients who use MD Public Relations services.

In 2010 Ms Dixon was appointed as a Faith Advisor to the

British Government, and was a member of a panel comprised

of 13 faith advisors who acted as a 'sounding board' to advise

the government on effective engagement with faith communi-

ties.

Ms Dixon is editor of Keep The Faith, Britain’s leading publica-

tion about the black Christian community and is a columnist

with The Voice, Britain's best-selling black newspaper.

Please tell us a bit about your background?

I was born into a Caribbean family and grew up in Forest Gate, East London. I became a Christian as a teenager, and went to South Bank University and studied for a social science degree. I had a typical black Caribbean upbring-ing. I had originally desired to be a social worker but God

had other ideas.

What business/ministry/enterprise do you run?

I run a PR company called MD Public Relations.

What inspired you to do what you’re doing?

I have been involved in the media for many years now. I started off working at the Voice as a receptionist whilst studying for my degree. An opening came up to do the Voice religious column (Soul Stirrings) and my friend asked

who did I think would be good for the role and I suggested myself and got the role.

As a result of reporting on churches and the gospel music scene, I recognised the black Christian community did not understand how to fully utilise media and set up my own PR company, to enable the churches, ministries, busi-

nesses and charities to promote what they do to the wider community.

In stepping out what obstacles or barriers have you encountered along the way and how have you handled

them?

The key barriers I have faced is under estimating my ability to achieve all that I set out to do. I believe oftentimes the greatest obstacles we face are ourselves, as there will always be challenges we encounter on our business journey. One thing that helped me greatly during the early years of my business was having a business men-tor. Diahanne Rhiney of 15 degrees, a marketing company provided me with some fantastic insights about the PR and marketing business which helped me greatly in overcoming the limitations I set myself and enabled me to aim

high. Continued on page 5

MARCIA DIXON DIRECTOR MD PUBLIC MARCIA DIXON DIRECTOR MD PUBLIC RELATIONSRELATIONS——CONTD.CONTD.

What advice would you give to women who feel that they can’t step out due to financial constraints?

Start where you are and use what you have. The bible reminds us we should not despise the day of small begin-nings - most successful businesses all started small. If you desire to run a catering company you can start cooking in your kitchen, if you want to be a designer, you can start making clothes in your living room - I have used these two examples to show that you can start small and build on the foundations you lay. God will add to what you do,

bless your efforts, and send the right people to help you.

MD PR services are tailor made to help YOU achieve your goals - whether it’s to raise awareness of your goods or services; promote an event or music, publicise your community initiative, get support for your community initia-tive or generate interest in your church/ministry. MD PR uses all communication channels, Press, TV, Radio, Social Media and Online Media to help YOU reach the church audience.

Jacqueline Nwokeji-Ani’s new book Being Single to Be Married—A guide to preparing yourself for a purpose driven marriage

has created interesting comments about marriage and the single mature women in the Christian community.

In the book, Jacqueline discusses the importance of women focusing on discovering their purpose and not concentrating on

finding a man, as it is the man’s responsibility to seek a wife. Instead women should focus on their relationship with Christ

and knowing how to use the Person of the Holy Spirit who will bring them to the place where they are found by His Best for

them.

On the other hand a man who has never experienced God’s Love cannot love a woman the way he ought to. However when

the two are focused on discovering purpose, then there will be a greater call for the marriage and that is the beginning of

being prepared for a purpose driven marriage.

Due to so many enquiries and reviews of the book, Jacqueline is starting a programme called Being Single to Be Married Ren-

dezvous. This will consist of 6 week sessions of rendezvous 3 hours per session to prepare women and men to break down

limiting belief systems and false illusions about marriage, eradicating stereotypes, a renewal of the mind-set, identifying the

purpose in marriage and bringing a fresh new outlook on how to wait for marriage in purpose.

The BSTBM Rendezvous will be starting on September 22nd 10am—

1pm. A venue will be communicated to you in the next issue, you can

also check for regular updates at BSTBMRENDEZVOUS

This 6 part rendezvous series will seek to help you do the following

1. To discover your wholeness in Christ

2. To pursue your purpose in Christ

3. To discover your purpose in Christ

4. To understand your position of authority as a woman

5. To identify a man of integrity

6. To prepare you in purpose

7. Understanding the principles of a purpose driven marriage

Public Relations is an excellent tool that people who run an organisation, whether it’s a business, church, charity or ministry,

can use to promote and raise awareness of the positive things happening within the organisation or share good news about

what they are doing, are about to do or have achieved.

Anyone seeking to raise awareness of 'who they are' and what they are doing' within the wider community do themselves a

disservice if they don’t utilise the power

of PR, via the media, to inform people

about the positive developments within

their organisation, raise awareness or

promote their goods and services .

Although the term media is usually asso-

ciated with TV, news, radio and increas-

ingly the internet, media is really any

means through which an individual or

organisation can communicate a message

to reach lots of people at the same time.

TV, press, radio and the internet can be

considered mass media because they

allow you to reach a lot of people at the

same time, but there are other forms of

media around that individuals and organi-

sations can utilise to share their good

news.

Aside from the obvious channels of mass media, good news of what you or an organisation are doing, can be relayed via one

or some of the following:-

WRITTEN MATERIAL: Leaflet, Newsletters, Brochures, Magazines, Pamphlets, Books, E-Books

EVENTS: - Seminars, Workshops, Receptions, Launches, Church Services, Speaking Engagements, Conferences, Convocations,

Anniversary Celebrations, Concerts

MEDIA RELATIONS: Press releases, Videos, DVDs, CDs

INTERNET: Websites, Blogs, Emails,

SOCIAL NETWORKING: Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, You Tube, Flickr

In order to successfully utilise PR you need to decide (i) what are your objectives, i.e., what are you hoping to achieve using

PR (ii) what is the most effective medium to achieve your objectives (iii) decide on what time scale you want to achieve it

and (iv) how you’ll measure success.

It’s important to recognise that any of the aforementioned media channels can help you achieve successful results if you are

focused and implement a well thought through plan.

I have worked on numerous PR projects with a wide range of clients – and on the main have been able to deliver good re-

sults and help clients to achieve their objectives – whether it entailed promoting an event/conference, raising awareness of

an issue, or encouraging people to buy a product.

If you run your own business/ministry/charity, you owe it to yourself to share the positive things your organisation is doing

with the wider world. Doing so can help raise the profile, change perception, encourage greater sales of your product, in-

crease the take up of your professional services, encourage more people to attend your church, persuade more people to

support your charity - the list could go on as to the impact PR can have on your area of concern.

The impact PR can have is a good one, so my question to you is what are you waiting for.
