Thermal Management

LED light source output and system life are optimized withproper thermal management. The above diagram showsthe effective engineering behind a dedicated heat sink.Note the convection currents pulling the heat away fromthe critical components.

Dimensional Details

GeneralThe GranVille LED is designed for years of maintenance free operation. The traditionalacorn shaped luminaire, while reminiscent of the 1920s contains a precision optical system that maximizes post spacings while maintaining uniform illumination.

Optical SystemThe optical system consists of a precisely molded thermal resistant borosilicate glassrefractor and top reflector mounted within decorative aluminum ribs and banding. Theglass top reflector redirects over 50% of the upward light into the controlling refractorwhile allowing a soft uplight component to define the traditional acorn shape of theluminaire. Two decorative aluminum covers are available. The lower refractor usesprecisely molded prisms to maximize pole spacings while maintaining uniformilluminance. Two distributions are available, designed for asymmetric and symmetricdistributions.

HousingThe luminaire finned housing, cast of aluminum, provides an enclosure for the electronicdriver and is designed to thermally manage the LED array provided. A metalized reflector is attached to provide direction for the main beam. Four uniquely designed stainless steelspring clips enclosed in a polyvinyl chloride sleeve and adjusted by a hex head 1/4-20bolts securely cradle the prismatic glass refractor. The same 1/4-20 bolts support thedecorative rib and band assembly. A slipfitter will accept a 3" high by 27⁄8" to 31⁄8" O.D.pole tenon.

Housing DoorCast of aluminum, the housing door is removable by one captive screw. For units withan EEI-NEMA twist-off photocell receptacle, the door contains a glass “window” toallow light to reach the cell.

LED Driver(Refer to Ballast Data Sheet for specific operating characteristics) 50 or 60 Hz voltagesensing 120 - 277V >90% efficient electronic. Potted for increased thermalmanagement. Removable through access door.

FinishThe luminaire is finished with polyester powder paint applied after a pretreatmentprocess to ensure maximum durability. The finish shall pass the 1000 hour salt fog testper ATSM standard B117.

UL ListingThe luminaire is UL listed as suitable for wet locations up to 40°C ambient temperature,depending on wattage. IP 66 rated optics. IP65 rated housing.
