EVOCOTo draw out, draw on, produce, recall to the colors.

• Self: Be true to whom you are, “you” will be the difference between yourself and others. Showcase who you are.

• Recall: Draw on your experiences, your teachings, your thoughts, your opinions and emotions.

• Think: Be mindful of how you are going to represent yourself and your client.

• Explore: Allow yourself to explore solutions, to try out multiple distinctive new ideas and mediums.

• Share: Seek the help of other colorful individuals in your life to bounce ideas and solutions. Draw from their experiences, opinions and thoughts, “everyone is not all, all is everyone.”

• Inaugurate: Think outside of the box for something new, changing, dynamic, purposeful and thought evoking.

• Impact: Let your color show.

Evoco is the concept of evoking creativity, involvement and innovation through the exploration of the creative. It is a journey outside of your being into a field filled with similarity and repetition purposefully changing the visual language of the world around you.

As designers we have a responsibility to further ourselves so that we can be the visual and contextual message for others. It is our purpose to define and showcase our colors, our thoughts, our ideas, our understanding of the whole.

We must make it our purpose as designers to give everyone all of who we are as a people and as designers; we must take the initiative to initiate change in ourselves, in others, in the industry.

Show your color.

VErtiCal SHaPESThis is the process where simple lines, color, and shapes are able to communicate the message in a very tangible and expressive way. Breaking down every object down to its simplest form will result in a better understanding on how everything works together. It is ideal to remember that every design consist of a point, line, and plane.

I have always been interested in how simple shapes can communicate a message. How certain colors strike a certain mood. And how the simplest of things seem to stand the test of time. Vertical Shapes to me express the ideas that design does not need to be complex in order to communicate. When design is kept simple it is open to a variety of interpretations that not only allows for your ideas to be recognized but allow more ideas to be formed. Everything revolves around this process of ideas building off ideas, which can all be broken down into a simple shape, line, or color. I don’t feel you need to follow a certain style or movement. I believe all you need to do is form a basic concept and build off a single shape.

OrganizEd CHaOSLife is full of oxymoron’s and creatives know this more than most as we try to make definitions for our visions and creations. Organized chaos for me evokes passion, focus, and a dynamic that through a spark intensifies the experience and final output.

It is the moment when all the pieces are being orchestrated together to create one unified message, your mind races from element to element creating structure that embodies one concept, one message, one statement about you, your client and what you want to say.

I find myself needing chaos in order to create something as one. I do better and more purposeful work when I am ignited by inspirations circling around me. Organization in design offers solutions and visual aesthetic that is meant to get jolt a reaction thus creating chaos for the viewer. Do I like this, do I not like this, Why don’t I like it, Why do I like it, does it mean anything, the list of questions and answers a piece of organized chaos can provide is endless depending on who sees it and how it affects them.

It is a beautiful and self inspiring ride that brews everything in you to do more purposeful work that evokes thought in others.

COntinUOUS linEThe continuation of design, an idea, always pushing forward has been a creative spirit the feeds the fire inside of me. If you have the skills and the creativity to keep going with something then why ever end it. Of course an abundance of chaotic clutter may be distracting however if it is all wonderful then the clutter may be a magnificent spew of pleasant disorder. My input into the wonderful ever creative design team Evoco has been my signature hand done illustrative line art that extends the eye into a lifelong vacation of visual pleasure. As an old school kid I learned to put things together by hand, xerox machines and sharpies were by best friends before I ever became friends with the computer. This is a good thing since it builds an extra skill, a different perspective and way of technique that others never had the privilege to build on their own.

My heroes have always been the guys with the direct approach, the human quality of someone pressing heavy ink on clean paper. The organic form of imperfection executed smoothly with experienced years of pencil millage. There are many things about continuous line that please me, its almost an act of rebellion. When one creates for someone else you are either celebrated or held back at every small step, some ones feedback interrupts or inspires your whole process. When one is drawing with a permanent pen on a blank sheet, the hand becomes an extension of the brain and keeps going until you are done. Line art and continuous line is a dream I create and get to choose when I awake.

OrganiCally UrbanAs a EVOCO designer I feel that it helps express my desire for raw design. I like to take a more destructive approach to my designs. I believe you can take something considered to be garbage or ugly and turn it into something beautiful. EVOCO is more than just a word to me it’s a lifestyle. It’s a lifestyle to create for a purpose, to design what I feel inside. I am never ashamed of what I do and I will always take pride in everything I do.
