REPORT ON IEEE AWARENESS PROGRAM
An IEEE awareness program was conducted by the IEEE STUDENT BRANCH
62361 on 30th and 31st of August 2016 for the students of first year department. The
main agenda of the program was to make the students of first year familiar with IEEE,
activities under IEEE and its benefits.
The students were first briefed that IEEE is the world's largest technical professional
organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE and its
members inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow through its
highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and
educational activities. Also they were made aware of the mission, i.e. to foster
technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity; and the vision that
IEEE will be essential to the global technical community and to technical professionals
everywhere, and be universally recognized for the contributions of technology and of
technical professionals in improving global conditions.
The students were astonished to know that there are more than 420,000 IEEE members
in over 160 countries. IEEE publishes a third of the world’s technical literature in
electrical engineering, computer science, and electronics and is a leading developer of
international standards that underpin many of today's telecommunications, information
technology, and power-generation products and services; also that GHRCE is the 2nd
largest student branch in the world.
Prof. Laxman Thakare, the IEEE branch counselor of GHRCE narrated about some
students who were benefited by IEEE for getting into top ranked universities of the
world and also about the activities currently being organized by the IEEE SB 62361. He
encouraged them to participate in these events and lead towards development.
They were also informed about their membership benefits that include access to
information on local events and activities by signing in to myIEEE, the members'
personalized gateway to IEEE membership. Also Access individual Society memberships
and subscriptions, connect with local IEEE Sections and volunteer leadership, find
upcoming conferences, and learn more about individual benefits, read the latest news
from IEEE, IEEE Spectrum, IEEE Standards News, and The Institute.
IEEE Student Branch 62361 2016-17
It was quite an interactive session and helped the students getting their minds cleared
and convincing that IEEE is the trusted “voice” for engineering, computing, and
technology information around the globe.
