GIC is the B2B and professional part of the biggest game event east of Cologne. It comprises GIC together with Poznan Game Arena, the collocated consumer expo. During its three days, the GIC features over a hundred talks and workshops in seven parallel tracks, roundtables, B2B exhibition zone, Pitch&Match meeting zone, Geek Careers recruitment zone and obviously three networking parties, one on each evening. Side events include indie competitions, events connecting devs with investors and publishers, the Best Game Video awards and big international Game Jam.

The GIC's three key features are the size & range, the professional level, and the inclusiveness. Firstly, it is not only the biggest event in CEE but also the one, where you will meet entirely new contacts. It gathers most of the Polish gamedev community, including indies and representatives of the largest studios. It also brings growing numbers of attendees from other countries in the region and everyone that wishes to come to meet them, including official delegations from far.

Secondly, GIC puts unprecedented effort on the quality of advanced and technical talks it provides, in tight cooperation with the community, to meet its needs. Finally, we are working hard to keep the conference inclusive, with numerous programs like discounts for developers from regions of weaker currencies, scholarship programs, women in games events and day care for children.

Our mission is to aid the growth of game developers in the region and globally.

The PGA is the largest digital entertainment and multimedia event in this region of Europe. Presenting mainly the newest games and gaming equipment, the PGA also serves as a festival of cosplay, gaming culture and e-sports. The expo steadily grows with tens of thousands of visitors every year and was already noted by international gaming media. Traditionally, the PGA includes a day for professionals and media with lectures and panel debates about the games market.

The Indie Zone on the PGA was introduced in 2013 and has been growing every year since then, both in number and quality of showcasing indies as well as in the visitors’ interest. Aside from Polish indies, it is regularly featuring developers from Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Israel, Netherlands, US, Sweden and more. Reasonable costs, the presence of international media and prizes that are awarded to the best games are key reasons for indie developers to visit GiC in such large numbers. Data of steamspy showing that Poland is 7th biggest market for indie games only boosts that.

The Geek Careers zone was included in the conference in 2016, with seven companies exhibiting to get employees for their Polish and international offices. It was even more successful than we hoped for. Recruiting companies were reporting they met many candidates, both Polish and foreign and on all levels of experience, including seniors and leads. The best success story is four new employees from this single event.

The GIC offers several B2B or business-to-developers opportunities. The B2B exhibition area, although close to PGA B2C expo, is separate and provides an excellent environment to meet business partners. The Pitch&Match system and the meeting zone allow for well-organized meetings. The conference in 2018 will bring numerous companies from Central and Eastern Europe, but also delegations from China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Business Lounge offers a place to sit down and chill out or to have a casual meeting. It also serves lunches in lunch hours and coffee, soft drinks and snacks non-stop. Finally, the networking events happening every evening are organized to include space to sit and talk as well as Polish food and drinks.

Epic Game Music will be held for the first time in Poland at Poznan Game Arena and Game Industry Conference 2018 and is planned as a powerful and emotional opening event for the amazing fair and gathering of computer fantasy world fans.

On Friday night, in the stunning Earth Hall, fifty-man CoOperate symphonic orchestra conducted by Adam Domurat will fill the venue with wonderful tunes and rhythms of computer game music. The Eart Hall is one of the best large concert halls in Poland. Equipped with modern multimedia facilities (including a big projection screen), it allows for creating rich, immersive visuals during the shows. The main concert will be invitation-only event, reserved for some important Game Industry Conference guests and delegations.

Then the main conference party, namely Huuuge Games GIC Party, goes really huge this year aiming for 1500+ participants. The party will be enhanced by the GIC Gig, being dancefloor made white-hot by three incredible and internationally renown DJ, indiedev composers, and performers.

InclusivenessThe inclusiveness is one of the pillars of the Game Industry Conference. We want to be as accessible as possible. Our passes policy achieves this. But at the same time, we want to do more to bring the inclusiveness further. This is how we all in this industry should act.

GIC Inclusiveness Scholarship aims to aid the growth of young and promising developers from low-income countries and underrepresented minorities. We try to achieve that by inviting them to the GIC and PGA, with full access to all opportunities, and covering the costs of accommodation and food. The 2nd edition is planned for 16 scholars.

Children’s daycare is a how we want to aid parents who are attending the conference with their little ones and need to leave them under the care of qualified staff. The nicely arranged room, healthy snacks, and well-prepared carers ensure a safe and active stay for the children

Women in Games Breakfast is organized at GIC since 2017. A combination of a roundtable and breakfast, aimed at empowering females in the video industry and serving as a platform for discussion and knowledge-sharing. Also, a great space for more experienced attendees to help solve challenges the younger ones have.

And this are just the biggest inclusiveness programs at GIC.

We have been going to many well-known events and we've been meeting same already known people everywhere. On GiC we've met completely new people from game industry and made new contacts that helped us grow. It was also fun and more approachable than some more business dense events.

Matias Sanchez Elnser, DICO

I heavily recommend GIC as the place where you can get really good know how about all the aspects of gaming industry, that means, design, art, programming, marketing and business. It is also the place where you can actually meet talented developers to hire and we did that as a sponsor, because after GIC 2016 FOUR people that we met at GIC joined our team. So in the end come over to Poznan in October 2017 for business networking and conference. You will not regret that.

Paweł Miechowski, 11bit studios

I really enjoyed speaking at GIC. There are a lot of passionate developers in Poland and I had a great time learning about all of their studios and projects. I made a lot of friends on my last visit to GIC and wanted to return to meet up with them and give another talk based on my experiences.

PoznańPoznań is situated in the midway from Berlin to Warsaw, ca. 300km from both of them. With International Poznań Fair, the biggest expo grounds in Poland, this capital of rich Greater Poland region plays an important role in business and industry.

Poznań is quite easily reachable from all around Europe. Being the nearest big city to the east of Berlin and northern Germany, it is connected with highway, multiple train and bus lines that take 3h to travel and offer prices starting from €10. There are regular direct flights to Poznań from 20 European airports. And from most of the other places in Europe Poznań should be reachable by plane with only one change.

Poznań is famous not only for its trade fair facilities but also rich trading traditions, interesting sights, original cuisine and welcoming atmosphere. The Old Market Square with a renaissance Town Hall and historic apartment houses is the true heart of Poznań. The Cathedral Island used to be the home to one of the first capital cities of the Piast dynasty state. In the Golden Chapel, there is the tomb of Mieszko I and Bolesław Chrobry, Poland’s first rulers. Poznań surprises you with the variety of its offer. It is the city where the modern meets tradition and history, creating a mosaic which is one of a kind and unique.
