EVALUATION QUESTIONS 4

Who would be the audience for your media product ?

Page 2: Evaluation question 4 powerpoint done

For the movie me and my group planned to base our audience for old teens and young adults around 16-24, the reason for this is that it can relate to the audience better. This is because people who go to watch the film will still be at school or have just left school so they can set themselves in the movie. Also the main character for the movie is Danny who is a teen at school, so having him this age will relate easier around the audience as him and the viewers will be around the same age, Therefore making the audience feel like they are part of the movie.

We had lots of influences from different films like ours such as the Blair which project and paranormal activity to help us base an idea of they type of audience and film we are after. The reason we chose to look at these films as a good example would be because the Blair witch project was a film about students who go into a woods and gets killed by a witch. The film is also a 15, our film is based on the same type of thing as well where Danny is a student at school an investigates a ghostlike figure killing people. And also seeming that both mine and the Blair had the same type of film audience it was good to look more into.

The reason for paranormal activity films were because they used young couples in their film and an age rating of 15; both of which would help relates to our film because of the target audience we were going for. I looked up films before we started and they were a massive hit so I thought that if we could create something like them two films like mixed together then it would be a great success.

I looked on www.imdb.com at The Blair witch project and found that many of the good ratings such as 9/10 starts were from people, around 17-24. This information was really good to know as it gave our group an idea of what age range of people like what sort of movie. So because of our film being just like the Blair witch project it also told us what are age range for our film should be to get a big audience.

This was just the same for paranormal activity as well but as it became so popular lots of people from 15-35 were going to see it and rating it really high. So this was quite hard to establish what age range the audience for our film should be as we know that paranormal and ghost like films sell really well so we had no problem with this part but just fining that right age range to make our film get more views.

I think that apart from Age and gender our group has represented our film in many ways to relate to our chosen audience. These can be the location to start. As it is based in a school And the age rating is from 15 – 24 many students would either still be attending or just left school so it makes make the audience feel more involved and therefore hopefully more scared and on edge while walking through a school at night. So the location was a big issue for use to help gain our target audience. Also I feel that costume has a big part to play through our film as we had to decide what Danny could wear to show he was a student but in the end we decided that he would wear what he was already wearing as he was at school and afterwards his smart clothes just suited the character and because it was actually what he was wearing it made the film actually realistic.
