Poster

In my poster, I have chosen not to show my protagonists face. The reason for this is because I was trying to bring a different feel to the image. I wanted my audience to question who the protagonist is. However, I have shown the main theme and issues of my film in my poster. You can clearly see the theme and issues of teenage pregnancy.

From looking at my poster we understand that my film is targeted at a niche audience. Also, the natural location and low/middle class is showing a natural way of making a film rather than the more fabricated Hollywood posters. Also from the type of setting that the poster is set out shows that this film is targeting the genre of social realism.

The poster reflects the themes and issues of my film as you can see the girl holding a pregnancy test. This gets straight to the main theme of my film, as when you see the poster you know straight away that it has something to do with teenage pregnancy. Also, the low key lighting represents a dull life as the poster shows quite dark elements.

Poster

The poster represents the style of the film quite effectively as you can see that the main character of my film is a teenage girl. Also, within the poster you can spot the main theme of my film. You can see the isolation and vulnerability of the protagonist as she is enclosed in a tight space crowded by walls, this shows the issue of imprisonment.

Poster

The poster informs my audience about the film by showing the main character looking at a pregnancy test. This suggests that the film has got something to do with pregnancy involved. The poster also has reviews, star rating and also the tag line.

My poster promoted my short film quite effectively as the low key lighting that is used in the photograph of my poster is representing the dark tone in my film. The small space that the main character is sitting in shows imprisonment. This shows that she is trapped and isolated from her life.

Main Task

Key thematic elements are very common in the main and ancillary task. The effects of teenage pregnancy is shown in the poster and the film. This is shown in the poster by the young girl sitting on the toilet in her school uniform holding a pregnancy test. Also, my film and poster both use low key lighting which represents the dullness of her life.

The poster and short film both show isolation and venerability of the girl as she is isolated in a small space, with walls surrounded around her like she is imprisoned. The magazine review also tells us that she is alone in the situation without any help from her mum or family.

The effects of abuse is being shown in the film by the mum as she is not looking after herself. In this shot we can see that drug abuse and alcoholism is being portrayed. Also, the effects of abuse is being portrayed by how the mum talks to her daughter. She doesn’t show any interest in her daughter and the wide shots of Lily and her mum shows the distance between them.

Main Task

Page 7: Evaluation question 2 powerpoint

Both ancillary tasks convey the same meaning and message as the film. In the poster you can see the issue of depression and isolation of how the girl is positioned in the image. The girl looks imprisoned and trapped by the small area she is sitting in and the walls surrounding her. In my magazine review the narrative used shows the depression of the girl, not knowing what to do and that she is alone in the situation.

My ancillary tasks impact on my main product because my magazine review gives background information about the film in detail. Also, the poster displays the theme of teenage pregnancy, you can see this by the young girl in her school uniform which shows that the girl is still a teenager. The girl is holding a pregnancy test which conveys that there is something wrong to do with pregnancy.

The film review and poster both reference one another to introduce extra layers of my film to show the isolation of the protagonist. They also both reveal the themes and issues within my film. You can see this by the narrative that is used in my review which shows background information about my main character. Also, you can see this by the elements used within my poster of the low key lighting. The film review unpacks the film, this then deepens our meaning and understanding of what the film consists.

Main Task

Both ancillary tasks are a clear reflection of my main product because of the low key lighting that is used throughout the film is also used on the photograph of the image on my poster. Also, the language i have used within my film review reflects on the themes and issues that are used in both my short film and film poster.

Magazine Review

However, at the bottom of my magazine review i have placed my film synopsis in the corner. The reason for this is because it shares a small section of what my film involves. This also tells the audience more what my film is about.

The way my magazine review informs my audience about my film is that it shows the themes and issue of teenage pregnancy. My magazine review also shows character bio, along with the main story points.

• My magazine review attracts the audience to my film differs from the way that my poster does because it offers a clear unbiased evaluation of my film. This does this by showing the strengths and weaknesses of the film and what it involves. My magazine review has a mixed evaluation of good and bad comments. I also made my film review in the style of ‘Sight and Sound magazine’ as this type of magazine attracts a more niche audience and that is the sort of audience i am trying to aim my film at.

10

In my opinion, i think that my film review could be classed as biased however It is not that biased. The reason why this may be is because it is a difficult task to do when writing your own review on your own film. This is why you have to make sure that your film review has an unbiased evaluation on the film.

From reading the magazine review we learn and understand that the genre of social realism is being represented. The certain terms and intellectual contexts connotes the genre and level of film making. Through my magazine review you can see that my film is targeted at an age range of teenager, you can see this by the type of characters that have been used and the certain ages that they are.

My review breaks down and articulates the themes and issues that the chief concern of my film quite effectively as the opening paragraph shows the theme and issue of teenage pregnancy straight away. Also, the picture that is added within my film review shows the issues of teenage pregnancy as the young girl is in her uniform sitting down holding a pregnancy test. This shows the issue of depression and isolation. This also shows that the young girl is very vulnerable.
