Evaluation Question 1: In what way does your media product use,

develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

In this presentation I will be going through some of the beginning steps that I went through in constructing my magazine. In this presentation I will be going through some of the ideas that I had and also how I would approach them in my magazine.

At the beginning of my magazine construction I had

different ideas on what to call it. The idea “homemade” came from what people think of when you say it. The idea of having something that is homemade ideally focuses on food that is prepared by your parents and is done the right way.

I felt that calling my magazine “homemade” would create a similar effect in someone's mind, having a magazine that is created properly and with the readers fondest intentions in mind. With this thought I decided on my magazines name.

Magazine name

I chose to create a Hip Hop and R&B magazine. I felt it would not only be easiest to make and talk about but also more enjoyable to do as I am best familiar with these types of magazines. Upon reading a selection of R&B magazines that I had at home and that I purchased, magazines like XXL and Vibe, I started to notice the similarities between them and started to make a rough plan for my magazine’s layout and topics within.

Beginning steps

When I begun making the

magazine I wanted to find a cover that was that wasn't to difficult to make and after doing some research I chose to make a cover similar to the style of a old called Black Music magazine. I chose this one, as it didn’t look too difficult to construct and also didn’t cram the cover with information. The colours are also old fashioned and bowled, I believe this made the magazine more eye catching.

Magazine cover

The list of some of the

features in the magazine, the location of the magazines title, the background picture showing an artist from their shoulders up. I chose to develop the Black Music cover and chose to make the picture in black and white, I thought this would make it more eye catching for someone and make it stand out from other styles of magazine.
