Transcript of Evaluation - Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of
real media products?
What Genre am I working in?• I am working in the boy band/pop genre• Below are some links to some music videos of the
boy band/pop genre that I watched to get inspiration from when making my music video
• http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bxc9hbwkkw
• http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KII1ruAfvsg• http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc7Fn4Hk088
How does my media product use forms and conventions of a real media product?• Before I started making my music video I did some research
on what the forms and conventions are of music videos of the same genres as mine. I did this by watching real music videos and taking note of what the forms and conventions are. I used these forms and conventions when making my music video to make sure my media product has a clear genre to appeal to target audience.
Forms and conventions of a pop, boy band, music video
• All band members wearing similar clothes• Lip syncing• Lots of eye contact with the camera• Singing into microphones• Band members sat on stalls in a line• Romantic locations. E.g beach• Varied locations• Close up shots of musical instrument • Extreme close ups of eyes looking into the camera• Boy band all singing together as a band• Black and white affect, other affects to create emotion

How does my media product challenge forms and conventions of real media
products?• My media product doesn’t really challenge
any of the forms and conventions of the boy band/pop genre. This is because I chose to strictly stick to the conventions of the genre because I know what who my target audience is, I know what they want to see and I know sticking to these codes and conventions will entice them to my media product
