Evaluation Q3. What kind of institution might distribute your media product and why? ‘The secret’ is a psychological thriller with elements from the romance genre. As a result when I did my research I pinpointed on the institutions that would distribute this particular genre of film and reach my target audience as well as gain a large profit. The institutions I think should distribute our media product are Lions Gate Entertainment for the allocation into the cinemas and marketing of our film also to distribute it onto DVD. Lion’s gate entertainment is a widely known company acknowledged for producing television programs, motion pictures and digital distribution. I researched on the movies that Lions Gate has distributed and one of the many they have done is The Saw series which was a financial success at the box office. Lion’s Gate was also involved with the distribution of the horror movie Drag Me to Hell (2009) opened at #4 with $15,825,480 from 2,508 theaters, it also received positive reviews from critics. Along with this Lions Gate has distributed many successful films and I am confident that if I used them to distribute our product they would successfully reach our target audience and make our film a success.
