WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTIONS MIGHT DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?

I feel that thrillers can be independent and they can be episodic. With our thriller I feel it would be a one and only which makes it difficult to decide what kind of institution we would like to distribute it. Some conglomerates would be willing to invest money into it as they wouldn't be spending too much whereas a series of films it would be more difficult for the institution to pull out of in the later process.

A big company like Warner or Universal may be interested because they wouldn’t have to make too much of a commitment to us, to them it would be like a 'one hit wonder' and earn them a bit of money. However, a smaller company might be better because if the film does well the company would get a lot of profit from it and then new films would be interested in the company as well, turning it into a big success.

Personally I feel that our thriller would benefit more from using a bigger film company like Warner as they would be more professional and know how much to budget for each thing i.e advertisement, merchandise etc. This would make the film more popular and make the company possibly invest in our production company again when thinking about making another film. If this company wanted to buy us out and try to build on their monopolies then I think it would be a bad

decision going with them, this is something we should discuss before actually going through with them so we know just how much involved we are at all times.

Warp films are a smaller film company in contrast to this huge conglomerate, Warner can afford to fund and pay for advertisements for the films they are making, whereas Warp struggle to do this and unfortunately for them lose a lot of their possible audience because they have not seen/heard about the film due to the lack of advertisement. This is another reason why we felt a smaller company would not do justice to our film, as they would not be able to promote it to the level we wanted and would be more local and cheap ways of showing it. They wouldn't be able to afford bus posters, nor would they be able to show several teasers and trailers online, this is a major reason why I feel choosing a smaller company like Warp would decrease our profits from the film.
