EVALUATION OF VIVERE
Looking back at your preliminary task, what have you learnt in the progression from that to the final
product?
PRELIMINARY TO FINAL PRODUCTAs I look between my preliminary task and my final product I see that is a clear difference in skill. I can see that I have developed Photoshop skills that allowed my to make my magazine look more professional by using my developed skills. A good example of this would be looking how I have improved in my image editing. I can also see that I have improved in designing my layouts better to ensure they are eye catching and have to right amount of text:image ratio to appeal to my target audience.
PLANNING In order to signify the correct messages through
images for my magazine I realised from my preliminary tasks that I needed to pay close attention to planning for shoots.
I scheduled my photo-shoots to make sure that my models knew when they were needed and for how long. This also made sure that I knew which clothes, make-up and setting to use on the day of the shoot so everything came together and I created the best looking images I could.
Furthermore I created drafts of my magazine in order to refer back to when creating my magazine. This helped me keep focused to the idea that I had created.
RESEARCH I had to research in depth about my target audience
to insure than I appealed to them correctly. I used the opinions from my research to shape the
content in my magazine. I thought of what my target audience would want from a magazine so I could create the perfect magazine that would appeal to them.
I also looked at the indie music scene because I wanted to make sure I had the correct knowledge for my content. Similarly to my preliminary task, I based my thoughts in ideas for content. Whereas in my preliminary task I was basing it on my own interests as a 6th Form student, my own interest and research allowed me to create appropriate content.
PHOTO TAKINGWhen doing the photo-shoot with my model Natasha, I originally took this image of which I am very happy with and used for my front cover. I was also going to use this photo for my double page spread, however I realised that I needed to do a significant amount of editing in order to make the image suitable for a double page spread in a magazine. Therefore I decided to reshoot my double page spread and instead use a male model. This fits in with a stereotypical indie artist as the music scene is dominated by male artists and therefore appeals to my audience as they feel comfortable with seeing male artists.
I had learnt that unlike in my preliminary task where I took a couple of photos and agreed with them, I would need to look carefully at mise-en-scene and how this would overall create the best image for my magazine.
