Dear fans,
Today we are proud to present Team Europcar, to reveal the
teams’ roster, its riders and the programme for a season that
is sure to be full of enthusiasm.
Since 2004, Europcar has been committed to Jean-René
Bernaudeau and his team and it is with pride that we now
invest in the next three seasons as title Sponsor. The
Europcar brand now features on the jerseys of a team that
we respect, support and encourage for the challenges of
2011. Mutual trust and respect lie at the heart of this
great sporting adventure that we share as a team.
The popularity of cycling around the world and the
straightforward complicity that exists between
the public and our riders perfectly refl ect the
positioning and the strategy of Europcar, a
company that listens to the travel needs
of its customers, respects the environment
and invests in the development of the rental
services solutions of tomorrow.
Team Europcar is also the perfect incarnation of the values of cycling,
values which we espouse: discipline, team effort along with individual
performance, team spirit and togetherness.
These are many of the values and goals that Team Europcar
will transmit throughout the 2011 season, at each of the
races around the world, supported on a daily basis by our
6,500 employees and franchise holders acting as so many
ambassadors.
I wish lots of success and a wonderful season to all the
Team Europcar riders. We are delighted to see them wearing
our colours.

1. What does the arrival of Europcar as the Team’s main sponsor mean to you?
We are delighted to welcome the Europcar Group as title sponsor. Today, this partnership, which is built on the close and trusting relationship established since 2004, gives us the means to realise our ambitions and to pursue the human and sporting adventure that so drives us. Europcar cultivates the values of service, of closeness and of team spirit that we also share. I hope that the Group’s employees will take pride in supporting Team Europcar not only in France, but also around the world, including from the end of January, the Tour of Gabon – la Tropicale Amissa Bongo –, before moving on with the Tour of Langkawi in Malaysia and the Tour of South Africa.
The alliance with Europcar, a major brand recognised by consumers and present in 150 countries, is a perfect fi t with the current globalisation of cycling, which is becoming ever closer to its growing audience.
2. What will be the major challenges for Team Europcar in the 2011 season?
Our main objective in 2011 is to position Team Europcar in the world rankings and to aim for the fi rst division in 2012. This obviously means winning races and sealing victories. There will be plenty of opportunities as we have received numerous invitations and the calendar for the 2011 season already includes 250 race days. If 2010 was the year of the 18 victories that enabled us to almost reach the world top 15, 2011 will be the year we go even further and beat that record.
Races like the Paris-Nice, which we are expecting to be invited to and would be a fi rst major objective – as well as other classics in France and Belgium, but also in Malaysia (Tour of Langkawi), South Africa and Gabon (Amissa Bongo), will enable us to continue the team’s gradual progress and to improve on its performances during these fi rst key moments of the year. Team Europcar is very together and we have the means to do great things this season.
3. What are special qualities of Team Europcar?
For ten years our trade mark has always been to provide our riders with both technical and physical training,as well as ethical, which has always been beyond reproach. We are counting on some sure bets such as our two excellent road riders, Thomas Voeckler and Anthony Charteau, really top level sportsmen and individuals. As well as having one of the best track records in France, Thomas is a charismatic rider, whose moral values of discipline, team spirit and generosity refl ect the quality of his performances. As for Anthony, by winning the jersey for the best climber in the Tour de France last year, he demonstrated that the French have no reason to be shy in that area and that everything is possible.
Then we have a good group of “classics” who will continue to mature, including Sébastien Chavanel and Saïd Haddou, but also some very promising riders such as Cyril Gautier and Pierre Rolland. Finally, there is a very good crop from our Vendée U amateur team, champions of France in 2010, and from which we have brought in three riders for the 2011 season: Jérôme Cousin, Tony Hurel and Kevin Reza. With this hotbed of talent we are always able to keep an eye on the future and to contribute to the development of Team Europcar.
