The five European Structural and Investment Funds;
| The European Regional Development Fund
| The European Social Fund
| The Cohesion Fund
| The European Maritime and Fisheries Fund
| The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development
ESI FUNDSTHE 5
| EU Member States are required to draw up and implement
strategic plans with investment priorities covering the five ESI
Funds.
| These Partnership Agreements (PAs) are negotiated between the
European Commission and national authorities, following their
consultation of various levels of governance, representatives from
interest groups, civil society and local
and regional representatives.
AGREEMENTSPARTNERSHIP
The designated areas are sparsely populated areas with a total
population of 1.171 million, or 12.26% of Sweden's population.
| The maximum level of aid that can be granted to investment projects
carried out by large companies is 15% of total investment costs.
| For investments carried out by SMEs, these percentages can be
increased.
AID PERCENTAGESMAXIMUM
While the population coverage is slightly lower than in the previous
aid map (by around 3 percentage points, or 200 000 inhabitants),
the overall aid intensities have remained the same or in some
cases even increased (15% aid intensity instead of 10% in Västra
Götaland).
| This is in line with the objectives of the new regional aid guidelines, which
aim at focusing support on the disadvantaged regions of Europe.

Sweden focusses on the following priorities strongly linked to the
Europe 2020 objectives of smart, sustainable and inclusive growth:
| Foster competitiveness, knowledge and innovation;
| Strengthen sustainable and efficient use of resources for growth;
| Increase employment, promote employability and improve access to the

These three priorities are tied to ten thematic objectives that are to ensure
that actions under the four funds will address specific challenges and help
Sweden achieve the objectives of the Europe 2020 strategy.

| 31% of the allocation will support actions under the thematic objective "Support to SMEs", | 28 % the thematic objective "Research and innovation", | 18% the thematic objective "Low-carbon economy", | 10% the thematic objective "ICT" and | 8% the thematic objective "Transport and infrastructures.

form of more favourable conditions for the development of rural areas.

European Maritime and Fisheries FundThe total EMFF allocation for Sweden is € 119.5 million.
| The main objective is to support the implementation of the Common
Fisheries Policy reform, thereby ensuring a sustainable development of
fisheries and aquaculture.
| This includes, for example, support to the development of selective
fishing gears and environmentally friendly production methods and
promotion of the protection of the marine environment.
ALLOCATIONSFINANCIAL
The ERDF will be implemented through one national and eight
regional operational programmes (OPs).
