ETIM – Why?


ETIM = simple and applicable

• It should be relatively easy for ALL manufacturers todeliver classified data of their products

• Real data are already available and can be used inapplications

– No theory but a de facto standard!

Keep it simple is the power of ETIM!

• International manufacturers ask for international model

– Also chances for exporting local manufacturers!

• Great saving potential for complete supply chain but

– Language consistency not easy (technical products)

– Model content = compromise

• Next step: focus on international sharing of product data

ETIM - Why international?

– Important development: ETIM Germany officially decided to adopt ETIMHVAC, Arge Neue Medien will be the Staff Office, director DGH vicepresident of the board.

• Shipbuilding (only NL, but fully available in English)• Building (only NL, new 2015)

Overlap in products between sectors, one standard prevents suppliersactive in multiple sectors from doing double work!

–An extension to the ‘core’ ETIM productclassification model classification withparameters to generate generic 3D objects(geometry) and data for engineering purposes

–NL only for now, but ready for international use

ETIM NL project : ETIM MC


– Each ETIM class can have one or more modelling classes,that consist of an explanatory dimension sheet and a set ofparameters (features) in addition to the existing features.

– Addition of drawing code (reference to dimension sheet)

– Addition of port code to uniformly attribute a certain featureto a connection port

– Requires 2 new feature types:• Coordinate feature (XYZ)

• Matrix feature (Tables/Graphs, if X then Y), also requires second unit.
