Personal hygiene: good foryour health
Everyone should keep themselves fitand healthy. The Ministry of Healthoccasionally issues public notices about healthcare so that we the people can avert possiblehealth hazards caused by seasonal diseases.Basically, people need to read these advices.
Now, summer is setting in, and we aregoing to lose more water and mineral salt fromour bodies, which makes us fatigued and dizzywith high body temperature. To deal with thissituation, we need to take a lot of water andrehydrated salt solution. We should avoidtaking a bath, shampooing hair and washingface with cold water shortly after we haveexposed ourselves to the sun for a long time.
We should take an umbrella, hat, light-coloured or loose dresses to protect ourselvesfrom day-time temperatures. Older peopleand children should stay in sheltered placeswith good ventilation.
Health care is everybody’s concern. So,we should join hands together in measures forpersonal hygiene, sanitation, hygienic foodand safe water, and honour public noticesabout health care.
In Myanmar, sanitation and personalhygiene have been on the list of priorities fordecades. Preventive measures as well astreatment are important in community healthcare. We can prevent infected diseases if wecare for personal hygiene and keep our homesand compounds clean.
We will, therefore, remain in great shapeif we adhere to the practice of keeping ourselvesand the things around us clean, have hygienicfood only, take garbage system, and obeypublic notices about health care.

Cosmic census finds crowd of planets in ourgalaxy
WASHINGTON, 20 Feb—Scientists have estimatedthe first cosmic census of planets in our galaxy andthe numbers are astronomical: at least 50 billionplanets in the Milky Way.
At least 500 million of those planets are in thenot-too-hot, not-too-cold zone where life could exist. The numbers were extrapolated from the early resultsof NASA’s planet-hunting Kepler telescope.
Kepler science chief William Borucki saysscientists took the number of planets they found inthe first year of searching a small part of the night skyand then made an estimate on how likely stars are tohave planets. Kepler spots planets as they passbetween Earth and the star it orbits.
So far Kepler has found 1,235 candidate planets, with 54 in the Goldilocks zone, where life couldpossibly exist. Kepler’s main mission is not toexamine individual worlds, but give astronomers asense of how many planets, especially potentiallyhabitable ones, there are likely to be in our galaxy. They would use the one-four-hundredth of the nightsky that Kepler is looking at and extrapolate fromthere.—Internet

Scientist finds Gulf bottom still oily, dead
WASHINGTON, 20 Feb—Oil from theBP spill remains stuck on the bottomof the Gulf of Mexico, according to atop scientist’s video and slides thatshe says demonstrate the oil isn’tdegrading as hoped and has decimatedlife on parts of the sea floor.

czar that said nearly all will be well by2012.
At a science conference inWashington Saturday, marine scientistSamantha Joye of the University ofGeorgia aired early results of herDecember submarine dives aroundthe BP spill site. She went to placesshe had visited in the summer andexpected the oil and residue from oil-munching microbes would be goneby then. It wasn’t.
“There’s some sort of a bottleneckwe have yet to identify for why thisstuff doesn’t seem to be degrading,”Joye told the American Associationfor the Advancement of Scienceannual conference in Washington.
Her research and those of hercolleagues contrasts with other studiesthat show a more optimistic outlookabout the health of the gulf, sayingmicrobes did great work munchingthe oil.
“Magic microbes consumedmaybe 10 percent of the totaldischarge, the rest of it we don’tknow,” Joye said, later adding:“there’s a lot of it out there.”
The head of the agency in chargeof the health of the Gulf said Saturdaythat she thought that “most of the oilis gone.”

Sprint signs up forBilltoMobile’s carrier billing
serviceWASHINGTON, 20 Feb—Carrier billing service
BilltoMobile said Friday that it has signed a dealwith Sprint, providing Sprint users the ability tobill purchases directly to their Sprint wireless bill.
BilltoMobile has previously signedagreements with AT&T and Verizon, and thecompany claims that it already serves 190 millionUS customers, and now a total of 240 million withthe addition of Sprint. Since 2000, BilltoMobileclaims that it has processed $4 billion in payments.
Direct carrier billing, as the name implies, simply means that customers who buy frommerchants that use the BilltoMobile paymentssystem can charge the transction to the user’swireless bill, without having to divulge credit-card information to an intermediary. Theadvantage? Additionally, it aggregates any andall mobile purchases onto a single mobile bill. Inthis case, as a direct mobile billing gatewayprovider, BillToMobile has already negotiatedthe exchange of payment information with Sprint.

Scientistsbuildinglargest
antimattertrap ever
WASHINGTON, 20 Feb—Creating matter’s strange cousin antimatter is tricky, but holdingonto it is even trickier. Now scientists are working on a new device that may be able to trapantimatter long enough to study it.
Antimatter is like a mirror image of matter. For every matter particle (say an electron, for example), a matching antimatter particle is thought to exist (in this case, a positron) withthe same mass, but an opposite charge.
The problem is that whenever antimatter comes into contact with regular matter, the twoannihilate. So any container or bottle made of matter that attempts to capture antimatterinside would be instantly destroyed, along with the precious antimatter sample one tried toput inside the bottle.—Internet

“Even more disturbing was the fact that aquarter of players and coaches thought that apitcher’s performance could be enhanced by havinga Tommy John surgery,” Ahmad said.

NEW HAVEN, 20 Feb —US researchers have an-nounced the developmentof the world’s first “anti-la-ser,” a device that can ab-sorb and cancel out a laserbeam. Scientists at YaleUniversity say the silicon-based device can absorb anincoming laser beam en-tirely, converting its light toheat energy, the BBC re-ported on Thursday. Thetechnology could lead to anew generation ofsupercomputers using lightrather than electrons, theresearchers say.
The anti-laser device canfocus two laser beams of aspecific frequency into anoptical cavity made fromsilicon, trapping the incom-ing beams of light and caus-ing them to bounce around
until all their energy is dis-sipated in the form of heat.Changing the wavelengthof the incoming lightswitches the anti-laser onand off, creating an opticalswitch that could be thebasis of a very fast optically-based computer.
Using silicon to createthe anti-laser means optical
components could bemanufactured using currenttechnology, researchers say, since the material is alreadywidely used in computing. One thing the anti-laser willnot do is create a “shield”against a high-power laserweapon, the researcherssay.

The elusive graffiti star is up for best documentaryfeature for his directing debut, “Exit Through theGift Shop.” Since he prefers to hide his face, it hasseemed unlikely he would reveal himself before halfa billion viewers worldwide on Hollywood’s biggestnight. Even in his own film, he appears in shadows, wearing a hoodie and with his voice altered to makeit unrecognizable. While publicists for the movieand for Banksy himself declined to comment as towhether he’ll be at the Kodak Theatre with the restof the nominees on 27 Feb, the Academy of MotionPicture Arts and Sciences says it would be happy tosee him.—Internet

Fleming sang therole of the sorceress atthe 1993 Rossini Festival
in Pesaro, Italy, andrepeated it in a concertperformance at CarnegieHall three years later. TheBel Canto coloratura isnot the most natural fit forher voice, but she sings itconvincingly and wasmore relaxed than lastspring, leading to a morebreezy feeling through-out.
Armida’s appeal toFleming is evident, givenher waves of love, angerand pride. She dominatesthe stage for much of thenearly four hours.

Sunday 19th February 2011.Black County derby ends
in a tieLONDON, 20 Feb—Carlos Vela’s injury-time goal
earned West Brom a vital point from a fiercely-foughtBlack County derby against Wolves at the Hawthorns.
Jamie O’Hara’s curling shot at the end of a livelybut disjointed first half had looked sure to win it forWolves.
Marc-Antoine Fortune wasted a great chance andJonas Olsson had a header cleared off the line as WestBrom seemed destined not to score.
But at the death Vela followed up a WayneHennessey fumble to earn a draw.
The visitors barely had time to pause for breathbefore West Brom’s next chance, as Odemwingieknocked the ball down into the path of Fortune just sixyards out, with only Hennessey to beat - but he failedto connect with the ball, letting the visitors off the hookin embarrassing fashion. Olsson was the next to try hisluck with a header which left Hennessey stranded, but
Jarvis was on the far post to head the ball off the line. The Welsh keeper was called into action again
when he used his knees to block substitute Vela’sdeflected shot.
Wolves almost snatched a second goal whenTamas came within inches of putting Kevin Doyle’scross into his own net, but the longer the game went onwithout a second goal, the more inevitable Wolves’victory looked. But in injury time, substitute JamesMorrison’s shot was blocked but not held byHennessey, and Vela was quickest to react and earnhis side a valuable point.—Internet
