TYPES OF ENERGY SOURCES
1. Nonrenewable Sources of Energy
2. Renewable Sources of Energy

NON RENEWABLE RESOURCE
A non- renewable resource (also known
as a finite resource) is a resource that does not
renew itself at a sufficient rate for sustainable
economic extraction in meaningful human-
frames. Example are Fossil Fuels such as coal,
petroleum and natural gas.
![Page 6: ESE154 - ADVANCED TOPICS AND PROBLEMS IN ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052523/5552c82eb4c90581158b4c2e/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
RENEWABLE RESOURCE
A renewable sources of energy can be
used over and over again. Renewable resources
include solar energy, wind, geothermal energy,
biomass and hydropower. They generate much
less pollution, both in gathering and production,
than nonrenewable sources.

LIST OF ENERGY CONSERVATION MEASURES
1. WINDOWS
• Windows may be one of the biggest contributing factors
to energy loss and uncomfortable spaces.
![Page 16: ESE154 - ADVANCED TOPICS AND PROBLEMS IN ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022052523/5552c82eb4c90581158b4c2e/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
2. LIGHTING
• One of the simplest ways consumers amount of energy
is switching incandescent light bulb to a compact fluorescent
lamp (CFL). A 15W CFL is capable of providing just as much
light as a 60W incandescent, while consuming just one fourth
of the amount of energy.
• Compact fluorescent lamp
• Fluorescent bulbs
• LED lighting
• Sky lights
• Smart Windows
• Solar charged flashlight
• Solar lights

3. WATER
- There are many water saving solutions that also save
energy.
• 1.6 GPM or less low flow showerheads
• Ultra low flush toilet
• Composting toilets
• Faucet Aerator

4. INSULATION
- Insulation decreased thermal losses in cold climates and
thermal gains in hot climates thus reducing HVAC loads.
• House Insulation
• Thermal Insulation
• Cotton Insulation
• Natural Wool Insulation
• VOCs in fiberglass Insulation
• Cellulose Insulation
