Erwin ChEmErinsky is the founding Dean and DistinguishedProfessor of Law, and raymond Pryke Professor of First AmendmentLaw, at University of California, irvine school of Law, with a jointappointment in Political science.

Prior to assuming this position in 2008, he was the Alston and BirdProfessor of Law and Political science at Duke University from 2004-2008, and before that was a professor at the University of southernCalifornia Law school from 1983-2004, including as the sydney m.irmas Professor of Public interest Law, Legal Ethics, and Politicalscience. he also has taught at DePaul College of Law and UCLA Lawschool.

he is the author of ten books, including The Case Against the SupremeCourt, published by Viking in 2014, and two books to be published byyale University Press in 2017, Closing the Courthouse Doors: How theSupreme Court Made Your Rights Unenforceable and Renewing FreeSpeech on College Campuses (with howard Gillman). he also is theauthor of more than 200 law review articles. he writes a weeklycolumn for the Orange County Register, monthly columns for the ABAJournal and the Daily Journal, and frequent op-eds in newspapersacross the country. in January 2014, National Jurist magazine namedDean Chemerinsky as the most influential person in legal education inthe United states.

Judge kenney was a principal in the Tysons Corner office of miles &stockbridge, P.C., a 200-plus attorney firm with offices in maryland,Virginia, and the District of Columbia. he represented creditors,debtors, and bankruptcy trustees in the Eastern District of Virginia,and elsewhere, since becoming a member of the Virginia state Bar in1983. Judge kenney also was certified as a business bankruptcyspecialist by the American Board of Certification. he has served twoterms as President of the northern Virginia Bankruptcy BarAssociation, and served on its Board of Directors. Further, Judgekenney had served two terms on the Virginia state Bar Board ofGovernors for the Bankruptcy section of the state Bar. Judge Zive was sworn in as a U.s. Bankruptcy Judge for the District ofnevada in its reno office on January 23, 1995 and was reappointed in2009. he was Chief Judge from october 1, 1999 to september 30,2008. he was the Chair of the ninth Circuit Conference of ChiefBankruptcy Judges from october 2005 to september 2006. he retiredeffective December 31, 2010, and has been recalled on a full timebasis since January 1, 2011.

Judge Zive graduated from the University of nevada in 1967 with aB.A. in journalism. he graduated magna cum laude from theUniversity of notre Dame Law school in 1973 where he was a memberand an editor of the law review. he is admitted to the bars ofCalifornia (1973) and nevada (1976) and to the bar of the supremeCourt of the United states. Prior to becoming a judge, Judge Zive’spractice was as a general civil litigator, concentrating in the areas ofcommercial, contract, real property, and employment relations law.
