School Cross Country
Your child’s class will be going to the Annual Cross Country Carnival at Tarro Reserve on Friday, 13th March, 2020. Cancellation of this excursion due to weather will be advised on the school Facebook page as soon as a decision is made. Rain will not prevent the carnival from going ahead. Only electrical storms will postpone the event. This excursion has been planned to supplement our sporting program which includes the Cross Country as part of our three annual carnivals throughout 2020. This is a normal school day and students should resume normal class by approximately 12.30pm.
Students must have returned the 2020 General Excursion Consent Form, including medical declaration in order to attend. This form can be obtained from your classroom teacher or the school office. Students will depart from Beresfield Public School at 9.05am and return to school at approx. 12.30pm. Students will walk to and from the reserve with class teachers.
We need volunteers as Field Stewards around the track. If you are available, please see Mr Edwards by Wednesday of this week.
Maitland Zone PSSA Trials
This term we have many students trailing for Zone PSSA teams. In the past we have had students successful in reaching league, netball and touch representative teams. The following students have been or are going to trials for these sporting teams:
Emity B - Netball (Wednesday 26th February)
Zayne W. & Jye F - League (Friday 28th February)
Alex J - Rugby Union (Tuesday 10th March)
Koby W, Levi L, Ryan B, Braydon H, Oliver U, Charlie B and Sieanna C - Soccer (Thursday 12th March)
As you can see, both Netball and League trials have been held and all three students performed well at the trials. We had some great news about Zayne being selected in the Open Rugby League team at dummy-half. Congratulations to Zayne for being selected in the Zone League team for a second year. Zayne will represent Maitland at the Hunter Trials on Monday 16th March. We wish him all the best.
Rugby Union trials and soccer will be held over the coming week and an update will be in a later newsletter and on Facebook. Good luck to these students at the trials.
Regards,
Michael Edwards

Sometimes people eat ‘brunch’, which is a meal in-between breakfast and lunch. Give two suggestions for the name of a meal between lunch and dinner.
Remember to write your name and class with the answer on a piece of paper, and post it into the Quiz Box near the principal’s office by next Friday morning.
