New this Year

1. This year our A/L Performance Show is NOT recognized by USEF. There will be no Horse of the Year points and

no USEF fees charged. The show/classes will be conducted using current USEF show rules and regulations; all inquiries

will be referenced to those rules and regulations.

2. The Late Entry Fee is $100 on all entries postmarked after the closing date, August 16th. Don’t get caught.

3. There will be NO STABLING available in the “Big Lonely” Barn due to safety concerns!

Special Events

Thursday, August 26

Competitors Briefing, 6 p.m. Please join us on the East Complex concourse for an update on show protocol and

policies, plus a Q&A session. This will be with our Show Managers and Show Committee chair. We strongly encourage

all competitors, both novices and old-pros, to attend this briefing.

ERAHC’s Annual General Membership Meeting, immediately following the Competitors Briefing. All former,

current, and prospective members of the club are encouraged to come and participate in this once a year get-together.

The location is the East Complex concourse, immediately following the Competitors Briefing.

Friday, August 27

Progressive Barn Party! Please join us in the barn Friday evening after classes end for the day and have the

opportunity to kick back and relax and visit with old and new friends. This year, due to Covid protocol, we ask that you

not bring food to share with others – just provide for yourselves. Hope to see you there!

Saturday, August 28

Live Auction! Please join us on the Concourse, Saturday evening, after classes end for the day for our Live Auction. In

the past, this has been a Silent Auction, but this year we have chosen to make it a Live Auction. The auction items will

be on display Friday and Saturday for you to look over. The actual Live Auction will start hopefully around 6:00 PM

(please listen for announcements for the exact time!). Hope to see you there!

at least 1 hour prior to class. USEF subchapter AL-39 will be used.

Costume Musical Freestyle, Open to ALL BREEDS. Exhibitor to show at gait(s) of choice. Exhibitor must provide

their music on 2 separate CDs and a written description of their performance at least 1 hour prior to the class.

Performance must be no longer than 3 minutes. A dressage arena and letters will not be provided. This is a fun

class, and competitors will be judged on riding ability, creativity, and overall impression. Junior exhibitors must

wear approved headgear.

from 24” to 2’9”. Each jump will be assigned a point value depending on its difficulty, ex. 50, 75, 100, etc. points.

The competitor may jump the jumps in any order with the goal of scoring as many points as possible in 60 seconds

(each jump may only be jumped twice). Points for a jump will not count if any part of the jump is knocked down

and that jump may not be jumped again. Refusal of any part of the course 3 times calls for disqualification. Highest

score wins.

Ground Poles, Open to ALL BREEDS. Preformed at a WT/WJ over a number of ground poles per a prescribed course

that will be posted at least 2 hours before the class. Refusal of any part of the course 3 times calls for

disqualification. Judged on the horse’s willingness and submission to rider.

Hunter Classes, Over Crossrails, Open to ALL BREEDS. To be ridden over a course of 4 crossrails at a trot or canter

(rider’s choice) one competitor at a time. Competitor enters at a trot, circles once in front of the jumps, jumps

course as prescribed, and finishes by circling once again in front of the fences before leaving the arena at a walk.

Refusal to jump a fence 3 times calls for a disqualification. To be judged on the horse’s willingness to jump and its

suitability to be a hunter.

Hunter Classes, Over Fences, 18” – 24”, Open to ALL BREEDS. To be ridden over a course of 4 vertical fences

between 18” and 24” high at a canter one competitor at a time. Competitor enters at a trot, circles once in front of

the jumps developing a canter, jumps course as prescribed, and finishes by circling once again in front of the fences

coming down to a trot before leaving the arena at a walk. Refusal to jump a fence 3 times calls for disqualification.

To be judged on the horse’s suitability to be a hunter.

Hunter Hack Class, Open to AL/HA. Competitors will jump first, then show on the flat. Riders must hand gallop

after the last jump, halt, back, and stand quietly on a loose rein. Practice jumps will be provided in the warm up

area at management’s discretion.

Lance and Rings Class, Open to ALL BREEDS. To be ridden against the clock around a course of 8 ring obstacles.

Competitor is to enter arena at a walk, pick up a trot or canter (rider’s choice). Retrieve the lance from the barrel

(timer will start at this point). Proceed to spear as many rings as possible. Rider may only try to retrieve each ring

once. Rider must retrieve rings from a trot or canter (NO WALKING). To be in the running for a ribbon, rider must

retrieve at least 3 rings. Competitors are placed in speed order (fastest to slowest). If a tie occurs, the number of

rings retrieved is used to break the tie.

Mounted Trail, Open to ALL BREEDS. Course will be posted in the show office at least 2 hours before the class, and

will include a variety of trail obstacles and elements. Attire is Western or English. No schooling of the course will

be allowed. Refusal of any part of the course 3 times calls for disqualification. Judged on the horse’s willingness

Required Information

Hold Harmless Clause

Understanding that horse sports may be hazardous and dangerous, even leading to permanent injury or death, each

owner, rider, spectator, and other participant assumes any and all risk of loss or injury and agrees to hold harmless,

regardless, the horse show personnel and the facility (VHC) hosting the show. ERAHC will not be responsible for any

damage, injury, or loss to persons, horses, or property of exhibitors, spectators, or grooms. All local facility rules must

be followed.

Motor Vehicle Operation

Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which

they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts,

motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a

valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an

adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or

guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages,

claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the

5-25-2021 11

parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include

exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the

competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and

other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. (If your competition bans

motorized vehicles, please contact our office for further instruction.)

Media Release Agreement

I agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, the competition may use or assign

photographs, videos, audios, or other likenesses of me and/or my horse taken during the course of the competition for

the promotion or benefit of the competition or sport. These likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they

may not be used in any way to jeopardize amateur status. I hereby expressly waive and release any rights in connection

with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or misappropriation.

Use of Protective Headgear

Except as may otherwise be mandated by local law, ERAHC strongly encourages all riders, while riding anywhere on

the competition grounds, to wear protective headgear with harness secured which passes or surpasses ASTM (American

Society for Testing and Materials)/SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag.

(Exception hunter, jumper, or hunter/jumper competitions refer to GR-801.2) It is the responsibility of the rider, or the

parent or guardian or trainer of the junior exhibitor to see to it that the headgear worn complies with appropriate safety

standards for protective headgear intended for equestrian use, and is properly fitted and in good condition. ERAHC
