NEWSLETTER Monday 23 September, 2019 Welcome to Week 10, Term 3
GURINGAI SCHOOL PERFORMANCE
Last week on Wednesday and Thursday night the students from
the Guringai group had their production, called ‘Movies by
Moonlight. Throughout all of Term 3, the students worked very
hard along with Brooke (the dance instructor) to learn specific
moves for their chosen song, as well as the finale.
The students should all be thanked for their patience and
behaviour throughout the rehearsals. Especially due to the
torrential rain that we unfortunately had on the day.
During both nights the students performed with an abundance
of energy and smiles. The audience could definitely tell they
were having the time of their lives on stage.
Elli 1H – I felt very enthusiastic before I went on stage because it
was my first time performing in front of a lot of people
Michaela 1R – It was funny because I was dressed up as a minion
and it was lots of fun!
Luke 1R – It was very exciting because I got to do awesome
moves in front of a crowd!
Isabella 1E – I had the best time performing and I loved hearing
people cheer for me from the audience!

FROM THE PRINCIPAL GURINGAI PERFORMANCE
Once again our students put on a wonderful show as the Guringai side of the school presented their performance. As
I said on the night, all of our students have had the opportunity to perform on stage in front of a large audience. For
many of them it will be a memory they take with them well into the future. I would like to thank the following: our
parents who manned the canteen and supported the show by helping their children get ready and then coming
along to support them; the teachers who worked with the children and helped out on the night; the performance
committee who worked hard behind the scenes to get props organised, worked the sound and lighting, collected
tickets, ushered in the audience and had our performers where they should be when they should be; and our
students who all learned their dances and put on the wonderful show. However all of this does not occur without
those taking on the responsibility of putting it all together. To that end I would like to single out two people for their
part in the success of the two evening performances. Ms Assad who coordinated everything from the school end and
Brooke who taught each of our thirteen classes performing, the dances, well done on a great show.
CONTACT INFORMATION
At present approximately 60% of families have returned the contact information sheets. I would like to thank those
families. As pointed out it is crucial that the school has current contact information about our students, in case of
emergency. If you have not returned the information, please do so as soon as possible.
BEFORE SCHOOL
Once again I need to remind parents that there is no supervision at school until 8:50am. Students should not be on
school grounds prior to that time unless they are involved in an extra-curricular activity where the teacher has
requested them to be at school early and is providing supervision for those students.
NEXT TERM
I can truly say all of our school community has earnt a well-deserved break and I would like to wish everyone a safe
and enjoyable next two weeks. I would also like to remind everyone that there is no School Development Day in
Term 4 and students will return on Monday 14 October. Next term will be both exciting and busy as we begin the
final transition into our new building. During the term we hope to begin the move and that will cause some
disruption to our normal programs. We will keep the community informed via our newsletter and app as these
things occur.

THANKYOU Guringai Performance Nights Volunteers A big THANK YOU to the wonderful parents who worked in or provided support to canteen for the 'Movies By Moonlight' performances last week - the fresh popcorn was a hit! Much appreciation to Laura, Glorya, Priya, Jennifer K, Mina, Suzzi, Pallavi, Lili, Hattie, Elissa, Deb, Loki, and Katrina. THANKYOU Canteen Team And as always canteen cannot operate on Wednesdays and Fridays without our small team of volunteer coordinators and parent/grandparent helpers. Thank you all for your time and support and we look forward to seeing you in Term 4. Enjoy a safe and relaxing holiday break! Canteen Changes in Week 1 of Term 4
In Week 1 of Term 4, canteen will be transitioning to a number of new canteen items. To allow us to make these changes, canteen will be closed to lunch orders in Week 1 only but will open during lunch time on Wednesday and Friday for students to purchase ice blocks, snacks and drinks ONLY. Thank you EPS Canteen Committee
SPOOKY DISCO - Friday 1st November Add the date to your diary! Keep an eye out for the flyer and ticket details in the newsletter after the holidays. However we still need one more parent volunteer to help Sonia coordinate this event. Whilst it’s a fun
event which so many children look forward to, it does require effort to organise it and cannot be coordinated by one person alone. Advice and assistance from the P&C will be provided. As usual we ask for many volunteers to help on the day. But to ensure another successful event, we do need one more coordinator. If you are interested, please contact Marissa on [email protected]

BATTLE OF THE PRIMARY SCHOOL DANCES On the 9th and 10th of September Miss Gilbert, Miss Nam and I (Miss Ralton) were fortunate enough to take the Stage 2 and 3 dance groups to Marsden High School to compete at Battle of the Primary School Dances. We were very proud of all the students involved! Not only did they perform amazingly but they also demonstrated excellent behaviour whilst waiting to go on stage. Thank you to all the parents who helped out with hair and makeup and for supporting your children to participate in this memorable opportunity. Miss Ralton
Stage 3 Dance group went to this amazing competition at Marsden High. We were divided into sections and after we performed they announced that we came 1st. We were all so happy that from all the years of Dance group we won. It was an amazing and fun time to have an opportunity to go on the stage. Thanks to Miss Ralton and Miss Gilbert for their amazing work in teaching us. Ria (6/5A)
Stage 2 Dance group had an amazing time at the Battle of the Primary School Dances at Marsden High School! We got 78 points and were 1 point away from getting an award. It was a blast! We thanked the organisers (Miss Ralton, Miss Nam and Miss Gilbert) so much for bringing us. We were all so excited to perform and receive feedback! Mihika and Adwita (4L)
