EXT. UNKNOWN GRAVEYARD SOMEWHERE IN L.A TIME UNKNOWN

BACKGROUND MUSIC: I GRIEVE PETER GABRIEL.

WE HAVE AN AIR SHOT of a GRAVEYARD. The sky is grey and rain is poring down like a

sad curtain on a group of people who stands around a fresh grave. The CAMERA SWEEPS

DOWN and PANS IN SLOW MOTION from face to face, beginning with GILES to the left.

Then theres FAITH, XANDER, WILLOW, DAWN, ANDREW, BUFFY, ANGEL, JOHN,

DANA, CANDY, FIONA and a whole bunch of SLAYERS. They all stand with their heads

bowed as in deepest respect and we can see quite a few tears being shed. The CAMERA

FOCUS on Buffy and Angel as the vampire reaches out a hand to grasp hers.The CAMERA DRAWS BACK and SPINS AROUND to reveal a simple gravestone with the

inscription:

AERIN BROWDER

1981-2007

WE ONLY PART TO MEET AGAIN, MY LOVE.

ZOOMING IN on a single WHITE ROSE lying on the ground before the stone.

FLASH.

INT. UNKNOWN ROOM LOCATION UNKNOWN TIME UNKNOWN

BACKGROUND MUSIC: I GRIEVE PETER GABRIEL

ALL LIGHT on SPIKE. The vampire sits alone on a dusty floor. As the CAMERA ZOOMS

OUT we recognize the location. Its the warehouse from the previous episode Bat tlin gWindmil ls. Its right here where AERIN diedThe CAMERA SWEEPS over the floor to the heartbroken vampire and we can see that hesholding a piece of fabric close to his chest. After a closer look we see that its a grey shirt

most likely one of Aerins. A CLOSE UP on Spikes face reveals the tears in his eyes.

INT. SPIKES BEDROOM THE HYPERION NIGHTFALL


SPOTLIGHT on SPIKE and AERIN lying huddled in the bed, tangled in blue sheets. The

vampire has his head on the slayers stomach and a content smile on his face.

AERIN

(puzzled)

What are you doing?

SPIKE

Just listening to baby, thats all.

AERINSpike

(blinking)

Can you really hear her?

SPIKE

(nodding)

Yup.

(planting a kiss on the stomach)

Shes a strong one.

FLASH.

EXT. THE GRAVEYARD L.A TIME UNKNOWN


LONG SHOT of the gathered people around the tombstone. The rain is still pouring down

from the sky. Big soft raindrops. The CAMERA PANS FORWARD and SWEEPS OVER the

group. DAWN blinks away the tears and the rain and turns her head towards ANGEL. The

dark-haired vampire stands rigid with his eyes focused on the tombstone.

DAWN

(sniffling)

Wheres Spike? He should be here.

(strained voice)

Hes gone, Dawn.

A CLOSE UP on Buffy, showing us the tormented expression in her tearstained face.

Suddenly she turns and leans her head against the dark haired vampires broad shoulder.

Angel responds by embracing her tightly against his chest, his eyes never leaving the

gravestone.

ANGEL

Hes gone.

ACT IINT. UNKNOWN ROOM LOCATION UNKNOWN NIGHT

SPOTLIGHT on SPIKE standing by a window, looking out with unseeing eyes. Everything

about him shouts AGONY and we feel for the poor vampire. His appearance is overall

ruggedly; with saggy jeans and a dusty grey shirt. His hair is obviously unkempt but the

look really suits him.

We hear a noise OFF CAMERA and its closing in on Spike. We recognize the noise as steps

and soon ILLYRIA appears into view. The god king walks over to the spot where the vampire

stands in a silent vigil and stops only a few inches away.

ILLYRIA

How much longer shall we linger here in this wretched place?

SILENCE.

ILLYRIA

Your grief hangs off of you like rotten flesh.

(whispering)

Theres nothing in this world but grief.

ANGLE on Spike. The vampire clenches and unclenches his fists and theres a muscle

twitching in his jaw. SUDDENLY we can hear the unmistaken sound from an unsteady heart-

beat. The tiny noise grows stronger for each second and the vampire wrinkles his forehead asin confusion. Theres a GASP from Illyria and the CAMERA PANS AROUND.

FOCUS ON Illyria. Shes rigid, her back flat against a wall, her eyes squeezed shut, her hands

in fists over her chest. She looks to be in great pain.

SPIKE

(anxiously)

"Blue!"

ANGLE on Spike as he runs over to the entity and kneels before her. He pulls her fists away

and takes them in his own trembling hand. She opens her eyes very slowly to look at Spike.

SPIKE

"Gave me a scare there, you did."

(searching her face)

Why did you do it?

ILLYRIA

"Foolishness. I wanted to experience this feeling called grief in order to share it with you.

(looking away)

"It hurt.

(looking back)

This existence is meaningless."

SPIKE

(barely audible)

Illyria.

ILLYRIA

Yes?

SPIKE

Stay with me.

ZOOMING IN on the two of them as their eyes meets and locks with each other. The

moment stretches on as does the silence. Their hands reach out and grasp the other.

ILLYRIA

(tilting her head)

I have nowhere else to go.

SPIKE

(whispering)

Neither have I.

FADE OUT-

CUT TO-

INT. BUFFYS BEDROOM THE HYPERION 06.00 HOURS

WIDE ANGLE on the room to reveal BUFFY and DAWN sitting in Buffys bed opposite the

other. The slayer is casual in a black pyjama and her sister is equally casual in a grey top andlose fitting pyjama pants in the same colour. Both have their hair pulled back from their

clean- scrubbed faces.

DAWN

Do you really think hes gone for good?

(shaking her head)

Hes not gone, Dawn.

(reaching for the sisters hand)

He just needed some time alone.

DAWN

I feel so sad for him, Buffy.

(sighing)

This totally sucks.

BUFFY

Im so with you on the suckage part.

(deep breath)

But Im also worried.

DAWN

Why?

BUFFY

(silently)

Spikes what, one hundred and thirty now? Hes seen more destruction than I everwill, and

hes always been aa force, Dawn. Always. But lately So much has happened in these past

few years How much has to happen before its too much? Before you juststop? Give up?

(beat)How does it take before he goes completely insane?

Theres a knock on the door and the both sisters turn their head against the sound. The door

opens slowly and WILLOW peeks in.

WILLOW

Hey, guys, they need you downstairs. Something about a new threat

FOCUS on Buffy and Dawn as they get up from the bed and head over to the door, still

grasping the others hand in a firm grip.

EXT. UNKNOWN LOCATION L.A DAWN

PITCH BLACK

A LOUD, TERRIFIED SCREAM.

SPOTLIGHT on a YOUNG GIRL, lying in a pool of blood. She seems lifeless and we can

assume that the blood is all hers. And theres a lot of it.

The CAMERA ZOOMS IN, revealing the blank brown eyes that stares into nothingness.

(A.N: The girls clothed in dark trousers, a brown cardigan and high-heeled boots. Shes slim

and rather cute with long chocolate-brown hair and a perky nose. What a waste)

SUDDENLY theres a amused laughter O.C (off camera) and as the CAMERA ZOOMS OUT

we can see more dead bodies. About six or seven so. And theyre all girls.

The CAMERA continues to PAN OUT and we can see a manly figure all dressed in black,

stand at the side, watching over the dead bodies. Its SPIKE!! (A.N: Of course its not theREAL Spike. You nitwit!!) Or rather someone who appears to be Spike.

Theres laughter very similar to the first one, and another figure appears into view. Looking

like Spike. Only this one is clothed in baby-blue jeans a military-green shirt and a suede

jacket.

FOCUS on Spike Copy 2 as it surveys the dead girls with a pleasant grin. Creepy

(snickering)

Fortunately theres more.

INT. THE LOBBY THE HYPERION 07.00 HOURS

A WIDE SHOT of the lobby reveals 6 people standing scattered all over the room. Its

BUFFY, FAITH, DAWN, XANDER, WILLOW and ANDREW. (A.N: Buffys wearing jeans, a

red top and one ornamented belt in silver. Her hair is pulled back into a ponytail and theres

a pair of shoulder length silver earrings to complete the picture. Faith is wearing jeans and a

black top. Her hair hangs lose and shes wearing black wrist cuffs. Dawns clothed in jeans

and a pink top. Her only jewellery is an ornamented cross around the neck. Both Xander and

Willow is dressed all in black and the witchs hair is braided. Andrew wears his usual suit.)

BUFFY

(looking from face to face)

There is evil out there, and I'm gonna kick its ass!

FAITH

(smiling)

Ego tripping much?

The front door suddenly opens with a swift sound and ILLYRIA comes striding in as if she

owns the place. The entity gracefully approaches the group and stops a few inches away.

BUFFY

Wheres Spike?

ILLYRIA

He still grieves for his mate.

(clenching her fists)

I could no longer tolerate the stench. It overwhelmed me. Made me feel filthy.

WILLOW

Its natural to grieve for someone who youve loved and lost.

ILLYRIA

(frowning)

This love is what makes Spike sad. I cannot see its purpose.

BUFFY

(rolling her eyes)

Big surprise there.

(focusing on the group)

Shall we go out and smite all evil?

XANDER

(raising a hand)Question: How do we know where to look?

BUFFY

(sighing)

Its called a hunch, Cyclops. Now lets go.

ANGLE on Illyria as shes passed by the group heading for the front door. As Xander passes

the god king, she stops him with a hand on his arm.

ILLYRIADoesn't it bother you that people call you Cyclops?

XANDER

(raised eyebrow)

Doesn't it bother you that people call you Blue Bitch?

ILLYRIA

(grimly)

Nobody calls me that.

XANDER

(rolling his eye)

Right

ILLYRIA

You attempt to annoy me. It wearies me.

(o.c)

Xander!!

FOCUS on Xander and Illyria as the two of them stares each other down. Buffy suddenly

appears into view and drags Xander with her.

BUFFY

(sighing)

Doesn't anyone listen to one damn word I say?

FADE OUT-

CUT TO-

INT. UNKNOWN ROOM THE HYPERION DAYTIME

SPOTLIGHT on ILLYRIA standing in the middle of the room. She stands rigid and suddenly

she raises a hand to examine it curiously. She flexes the fingers and makes a fist before she

relaxes the arm and starts to investigate the other one in a similar fashion. When shes

finished with that she slowly let the hand travel to her face to touch every inch of it. Long,

delicate fingers covered in leather traces the smooth lines of the face that once belonged to

WINIFRED BURKLE, tracking their way over half closed lids and a slightly parted mouth.

Then her fingers entwine themselves in the hair, gently combing through it.

HOARSE VOICEYoure the embodiment of beauty.

PANNING BACK to a WIDE SHOT of the room. The form of KNOX stands by the window,

looking at Illyria in awe. This would most certainly be THE FIRST.

ILLYRIA

(unfazed)

Youre a fool to show up here.

(facing it)

I could obliterate you in a matter of seconds.

THE FIRST

(amused)

You could beat me.

(beat)

But I cant be destroyed.

ILLYRIA

Everything can be destroyed.

THE FIRST

Is that Fred talking?

ILLYRIA

(clenching her fists)

Winifred Burkle is dead.

(sneer)

The one whose face you wear made sure of that.

THE FIRST

(snickering)

Uhm, yeah. He kinda did, didnt he?

FOCUS on the First as it approaches Illyria almost cautiously. It stops only a meter away and

let his eyes roam over her appearance.

THE FIRST

The fool adored her almost as much as he worshipped you.

(shaking his head)

But he made a poor choice in picking a vessel for the great Illyria.

ILLYRIA(resentfully)

Indeed.

THE FIRST

(nodding)

Yes.

(pause)

You see, it should never have been Fred in the first place.

(morphing into Spike)

It should have been me.

And with that the First disappears in a blink, leaving Illyria with a grim expression on her

face. The entity swirls around and leaves the room in quite a hurry. The door closes behind

her and the scene

CUT TO-

EXT. DARK ALLEY DOWNTOWN L.A DAYTIME

AIR SHOT of the alley as a group of people enters it, idly chatting. The CAMERA QUICKLY

PANS DOWN and ZOOMS IN on the group to reveal; BUFFY, XANDER, DAWN,

WILLOW, ANDREW and FAITH.

BUFFY

My instincts tell me that we might be near something evil.

DAWN

(snorting)

And this would be the Force telling you that?

BUFFY

(hissing)

Brat.

XANDER

(sighing)

Will you two ever stop bantering?

DAWN

(insulted)We do not banter. We Oww!!

Suddenly Dawn is tackled with a demon that comes flying out from a side alley and knocks

her to the ground.

BUFFY

(startled)

Dawn!!

FOCUS on Xander as he pulls the roaring demon away from the young woman who instantly

staggers to her feet.

The demon turns it attention to Xander. (A.N: The demon seems to be FYARL.) Xanders

looks aghast for a second before he punch the demon in the face. Hollering it grabs the man

by the collar and sends him flying a good three meters away.

XANDER

(pained voice)

I am not feeling the force here, Buffy!

BUFFY

(charging the demon)

Screw the force!

FOCUS on Buffy and the demon as they engage in a fight. The blonde slayer jabs the big

demon in the ribs and follows up with a powerful blow to the head. As the demon staggers

back she executes a perfect roundhouse kick and brings it down to its knees. Then she takes

its huge head between her hands and snaps its neck like a toothpick. Before the demon falls

dead to the ground its mouth opens widely and a stream of yellow slime hits Buffy right in

the face.

ZOOMING IN on the horrified expression in Buffys face as the slime drips down her chinand stains the red top.

DAWN

(scrunching up her nose)

Eww.

BUFFY

(wiping her mouth vigorously)

You dont get to say Eww! Youre not the one covered in icky demon-y stuff!!

XANDER

At least its a fetching colour on you.

BUFFY

(narrowing her eyes)

Are you trying to cheer me up?

XANDER

(holding up his hands)

No, wouldn't dream of it.

BUFFY

(deadly smile)

Good, I hate being cheered up.

Yo, guys!!

The CAMERA SPINS AROUND to reveal Faith in the far end of the alley. She winks at the

others to come and join her her tone implying shes found something disturbing.

We follow the rest of the group as they head over to the dark haired slayer.

BUFFY

What is it, Faith?

(coming to an abrupt halt)

Oh my God

ZOOMING IN on the pile of dead bodies. Its the dead slayers.

Theres a gagging sound and the CAMERA FOCUS on Dawn as she bends over and vomit.

WILLOW

(o.c)

By the Goddess

The CAMERA SWIRLS AROUND just in time for us to see how the dead bodies on the

ground start to move. One by one the girls stagger up to their feet.

BUFFY

I I dont understand? They cant be vampires its day

GILES

I fear theyre something completely different.

The group of, until recently dead, slayers begin to walk towards our heroes. They look

menacing with their torn clothes and bloodstained eyes.

BUFFY

(flustered)

Run!!

The CAMERA FOLLOWS the retreating heroes as they run down the alley. Then it turns

around to show us a CLOSE UP on a girls face. Shes pale and her eyes are brimming with

rage. Pure rage.

ACT I IINT. SPIKES BEDROOM THE HYPERION - NIGHTFALL

ZOOMING IN on SPIKE lying fully clothed on the bed. The blonde vampire is clothed in

grey cargo pants and a long-sleeved darker grey shirt. His feet are bare and the honey blonde

curls unruly.

Suddenly a trembling hand reaches into view to plant itself on the vampires back, making

him shudder and slowly turn his head to look up at the intruder.

The CAMERA PULLS back to a wide shot and we see the figure of AERIN sitting on the

bedside, smiling down at him.

AERIN (?)

Hello there, cutie.

SPIKE

(blinking)

Youre a dream.

AERIN

(smiling softly)

Yes.

(a lone tear trickling down her cheek)

I am a dream.

SPIKE

(soft smile)

s a good dream.

FOCUS on Aerin as she leans forward and plants a gentle kiss on his forehead. (A.N: Shes

wearing a yellow and white summers dress and her hair hangs lose and whisks around her

beautiful face.)

AERIN

(whispering)

Its time for you to wake up, honey.

(blinking)

What?

FLASH.

SPOTLIGHT on the blonde vampire as his eyes snaps open and he stares out into

nothingness. The CAMERA PULLS BACK to a FULL SHOT of the room and we can see that

its empty.

SPIKE

(hoarsely)

Aerin

FLASH.

A TIGHT SHOT of Spike and Aerin lying cuddled up to each other in tangles sheets. The

vampire is spooning the slayer and they both have a sedated smile on their lips.

AERIN

(dreamingly)

You watch me while we make love.

SPIKE

Youre beautiful.

FLASH.

A CLOSE UP on Spike and Aerin standing on the roof of the Hyperion overlooking the city

as the sun slowly rises on the horizon. (A.N: Spike wears his black ensemble and Aerin

matches him in black leather pants and a black shirt.)

SPIKE

(smiling down at her)

Have I told you that you look beautiful in the mornings?

AERIN

Yes. You do it every day.

FLASH.

SPOTLIGHT on Spike as he slowly sits up in the bed and run a hand through the curls on his

head. His eyes are brimming with emotion and he seems to barely keep it together.

Then theres a knock on the door and his head turns swiftly in that direction. He stares at the

door and growl warningly.

Theres another knock. Louder this time.

SPIKE

(snarling)

Sod off!!

GILES

(muffled voice)

We need your help.

SPIKE

(aggravated)

You've obviously mistaken me for someone who gives a damn.

BUFFY

(stern voice)

Let us in, Spike!

With a sigh the vampire rises to his feet and staggers over to the door to let in the trio

standing outside. Its BUFFY, GILES and ANGEL. The latter scrunching up his nose as he

enters the hotel room.

ANGEL

It smells like an alcohol factory in here.

SPIKE

(shrugging)

What off it?

BUFFY

I know what youre going through

SPIKE

(holding up a hand)

Dont. Just stop, okay? You cant possible know what Im going through. Ive died so many

times. First when I was sired by Drusilla, then in the Hellmouth and at last in L.A. I thought I

where finished, for Gods sake. And I was.

BUFFY

Spike

God damn you. The whole lot!

(fist travelling to his chest)

Theres ashes where my heart should be!! I cant feel anything warm!!

BUFFY

I understand

GILES

(interrupting)

We really need your help, Spike

SPIKE

And I needit all to stop!

(ragged breath)I want to stop. Stop fighting. I just want to rest. God, I want to rest. But I cant.

BUFFY

(grimly)

Thats it? You want to just give up and die?

ANGLE on Spike as he focus on her and a sad smile forms on his lips. He slowly shakes his

head.

SPIKENot giving up. s just accepting the unavoidable. My body is weak and my soul is tired. Ive

battled for far too long now and I need to rest.

BUFFY

Rest from what? Life?

(ragged breath)

What do you think youll find? Happiness?

A TIGHT SHOT of Spike as a serene expression spreads over his angelic face. The vampire

reach out a hand and cups Buffys cheek.

SPIKE

Ill find peace, Buffy.

A DEAFENING SILENCE.

INT. THE LOBBY THE HYPERION NIGHT

A WIDE SHOT of the lobby. Theres quite a gathering happening here. At least 14 people are

occupying the room and theres chatter coming from every direction. People present at the

time: BUFFY, GILES, JOHN, XANDER, WILLOW, DAWN, ANDREW, ANGEL, FAITH,

CANDY, JADE, FIONA, DANA and ILLYRIA. The latter standing close to Angel.

ILLYRIA

(solemnly)

I need to communicate with you regarding Spike.

ANGEL

(sighing) I don't have time for this.

ILLYRIA

All a vampire has is time.

ANGEL

(frustrated)

Not this one!

The CAMERA FOCUS on Buffy and Faith who stands at the side.

BUFFY

What we saw

FAITH

Downright nasty, B.

BUFFY

I would rather die before becoming something like that.

FAITH

(shrugging)

Dont fret. Ill kill you myself if it ever comes to that.

BUFFY

Er Thanx?

A WIDE SHOT of the room with the CAMERA ANGLING TOWARDS Xander.

XANDER

I've been thinking...

ANGEL

Oh God, save us all.

XANDER

Ha ha, Angel.

(serious tone)

What were those things we saw? Giles?

GILES

(polishing his glasses)I think theyre some kind of zombies.

DAWN

(raised eyebrow)

Zombies?

FAITH

Stranger things have happened.

ILLYRIADefine strange.

BUFFY

(pause)

You don't know what strange means?

A GOOD SHOT of the icy gaze Illyria casts in Buffys direction.

ILLYRIA

Your mouth spits out illogical sentences. Of course I know what strange means. But I wouldlike to inquire what the slayer Faith means by stranger things has happened.

FAITH

Well You, coming back in Freds carcass for one.

(smugly)

Thats strange.

(staring at Faith)

You're so stupid, the word special comes to mind.

FAITH

Wha?

The dark slayers words are cut of as Illyria, in a move so fast we cant really see it, pins her to

the wall and squeezes her throat with a deadly glare in those ice blue eyes.

BUFFY

(sighing)

Please dont kill her, Illyria.

ILLYRIAMy patience with this one is deteriorating.

(releasing Faith)

Shes lucky that Im such a forgiving entity.

BUFFY

She sure appreciates it.

(turning to the group)

Now that to issue at hand.

(beat)

How do we kill 'em?

WILLOW

Can't kill'em, Buffy, cause they're already dead.

BUFFY

(impatiently)

You know what I mean. Can we stake them?

WILLOW

Theyre not vampires.

BUFFY

Ah, forgot about that.

(beat)

Can we shoot 'em?

No internal organs to disrupt.

BUFFY

Ah, we'll light them on fire.

(rubbing her hands while laughing)

Have ourselves a little barbeque.

WILLOW

(another headshake)

FOCUS on Buffy as she stops laughing and glares at her fellow combatants.

BUFFY

(frowning)

Drown 'em?

WILLOW

Doesnt work.

BUFFY

(getting irritated)

Then what for fucks sake?! Silver bullets???!!

ANGEL

(peeved)

How many more ways of hurting things can you think of?

Theres that pout we all know and love. Right? (Aww, shes so cute.)

BUFFY

Obviously not nearly enough.

FAITH

We need a plan.

XANDER

(sighing)

Our plans never work. Were doomed.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE.

A SHOT of the varieties facial expressions; Illyria simply glares at the blonde slayer, Giles

rubs his nose, Angel looks resigned as do the Scoobies, while the younger slayers seems tobe astonished. John mouth opens as if hes about to say something.

GILES

(snidely)

Just zip it.

Johns mouth closes again.

MORE SILENCE.

BUFFY(looking around)

What?

FAITH

(looking away)

Just let us go out and kick some zombie ass!

SPOTLIGHT on BUFFY and ANGEL walking side by side, zigzagging between the graves.

BUFFY

Spike wouldnt even listen to us.

ANGEL

Hell bounce right back up again.

(turning to see a really ugly looking demon behind her)

A WIDE SHOT as the demon who looks like a overgrown Yoda (that little green dude in

Star Wars), leans forward and sniffs in the air surrounding Buffy. It quickly draws back and

jitters something at her in a completely unknown language. It seems to contain a vast variety

of clicking sounds and body language. (The body language being a scrunched up nose and

wide open eyes.)

(insulted)

Well I don't particularly like the way YOU smell, either.

Theres sound of running feets and soon theres a bunch of slayers and GILES standing a few

feet away. They look at the demon with puzzlement.

GILES

We heard your scream, Buffy.

BUFFY

I did not scream.

(pause)

Much.

FAITH

What is that thing?

GILES

I think its a Mantleex.

ANGLE on the supposedly Mantleex demon as it once again sniffs the air around Buffy. This

time it steps an inch closer and lets out a happy yelp.

GILES(peeved)

Oh dear.

BUFFY

(aghast)

What?

GILES

(distressed sigh)

I think it wants to mate with you.

SILENCE.

FAITH

(grinning)

Better you than me.

ZOOMING IN on the dead body of the Mantleex demon. Then PANNING OUT to a WIDE

SHOT. BUFFY stands over the demon with her hands on her hips and a smug expression on

her face.

BUFFY

I did it! I so totally kicked that demons ass.

(no response)

I might have saved all our lives.

(silence)

Don't everyone thank me at once.

ANGEL

Ah, Buffy. The poor thing had a crush on you and you killed it?

BUFFY

There was no crush-y thing going on!

ANGEL

Your kids would have been so cute.

BUFFY

(fingering her stake)

Angel, this is the kind of conversation that can only end in a staking.

ANGEL

ACT I IIINT. SPIKES BEDROOM THE HYPERION DAWN

SPOTLIGHT on SPIKE lying on the bed, surrounded by hundred of pictures. Picture after

picture with a smiling AERIN. Sometimes alone and sometimes accompanied by an equally

goofy Spike.

SPIKE

(whispering)

s all thats left of her. My raven slayer. This and a lingering scent in this room. This

building. Haunting me. Tormenting me.

ILLYRIAYour anguish rolls off of you like mist in the marshlands of Obandau.

(wistfully)

It is an abomination.

A WIDE SHOT reveals ILLYRIA besides the bed, sitting on the floor. She holds a picture in

her hand and studies it curiously.

SPIKE

Look, High and Mighty, Im fine

ILLYRIA

(narrowing her eyes)

I have trouble believing you.

(a thin smile graces her face)

It may be because I know youre lying.

SPIKE

(sad smile)

Knew you would, pet.

FOCUS on the tears that silently start to run down his pale cheeks.

SPIKE

Shes dead, Leery. Shes dead and shes not coming back.

(silently)

She died for a higher purpose. And she died knowing that you were safe.

SPIKE

Rot. She died for me! Im a fucking monster. I should have died in her place. She was worth

ten of me.

(pause)

She told me that shed die before letting anything happen to me. But I really thought it was

my turn to go first. But now Im the one left behind.

(sniveling)

Now what do I do?

A CLOSE SHOT of the two of them as Illyria reach out a hand and slowly place it on his tear-

stained cheek.

ILLYRIA

SPIKE

(closing his eyes)

A MOMENT OF COMPLETE SILENCE.

ILLYRIA

INT. THE LOBBY THE HYPERION DAYTIME

A WIDE SHOT of the lobby. The room is positively filled with people and other beings.

BUFFY, DAWN and WILLOW stands in a little group by themselves all dressed in their

previous clothes. GILES, JOHN, ANDREW and FIONA stand to the left and seem to be in

deep conversation. FAITH, XANDER, CANDY, DANA and JADE occupies the couch and

ANGEL prowls near his office.

ANGEL

Have we come up with a plan to kill these things?

(looking in the vampires direction)

JOHN

XANDER

(chiming)

ANGLE on the stairs as SPIKE and ILLYRIA gracefully descends. The vampire is clothed in

black cargo pants and a black shirt. (Yummy all around.)

XANDER

(snorting)

GILES

(small smile)

A CLOSE UP on the pout in BUFFYS face.

I still dont get why I couldnt go with Spike?

PULLING BACK to a WIDE SHOT of the scene. Buffy is walking down a dark street

accompanied by XANDER and WILLOW.

WILLOW

I think he need a little bit of time by himself.

BUFFY(dejectedly)

But he went with Illyria!!

(kicking a can out of the way)

Gah!! Im sick of it! Its Blue this and Blue that!

(annoyed pout)

I swear if I hear that name again Ill make him all kinds of blue!

ZOOMING IN on s street corner as FAITH comes walking around it. Shes followed by JOHN

EXT. DARK CEMETERY- DOWNTOWN L.A NIGHT

SPOTLIGHT on ANGEL and DAWN as they make their way through the graveyard.Suddenly theres a roaring sound and a huge and its REALLY huge, demon appears as from

nowhere and knock Angel to the ground in one powerful blow. The vampire lays there

unmoving and we get a CLOSE UP on the peeved expression in Dawns face.

A WIDE SHOT as the demon roars again and charges at the young woman who shrieks and

turns on her heel to run, with might I say an impressive speed. But shes obviously shit for

luck, because she stumbles and falls to the ground with an umf.

DAWN

(huffing)

Just my luck.

The demon stands over Dawn and shows off an alarming amount of sharp teeth as he opens

his mouth to roar once again. Theres also very much drooling going on there. (Yuck.)

(A.N: the demon itself is black in its colouring, with two sets of arms and long claws. It has a

pair of eyes that glisten in pure red and it walks upright. In a way it kinda reminds of a

werewolf but without the fur and add scales.)

DAWN

Dont eat me!

(panting)

I havent showered. Im disgusting!!

HUNGRY ROAR.

BUFFY

Why don't you pick on somebody your own...my size?

ANGLE on BUFFY appearing into view from the left. The blonde slayer cast a fast and

inquiring glance in her sisters direction before completely focusing on the demon.

DAWN

(happily)Buffy!!

BUFFY

(gritting her teeth)

I'm gonna win this fight and save your ass, that way I can kick it myself later.

FLASH.

ZOOMING OUT from the dead body of previous demon. BUFFY and DAWN appears into

view. The two sisters stand facing each other. Buffy with a grim expression on her stern faceand Dawn with a hesitant smile.

DAWN

Look, uh, you're probably a little bit upset, huh?

BUFFY

(raised eyebrow)

No, I've moved past upset and straight to pissed off.

DAWN

The good new is that Im alright!

BUFFY

(sighing)

You have no idea how much I'm restraining myself from knocking you on your ass.

A WIDE SHOT of the scene as ANGEL stirs on the ground and slowly pulls himself up in to a

sitting position.

ANGEL

(confused frown)

What happened?

BUFFY

I told you to look after Dawn.

ANGEL

Er Sorry?

BUFFY

Next time this happens youll not be able to walk in a week.

PAUSE.

ANGEL

Good bluff.

BUFFY

Who said I was bluffing?

A TIGHT SHOT of the sulking expression on Angels face.

CUT TO-

EXT. THE CEMETERY DOWNTOWN L.A NIGHT

The CAMERA CIRCLES AROUND the group of dead SLAYERS as they march through the

dark cemetery. Their strides are fast and they seem to have a goal as they move as one over

the grass.

BUFFY

Hey!! Over here, you bags of flesh!!

As one the dead slayers come to a halt and turn in the direction of the blonde slayers voice.

BUFFY stands under a tree with her hands on her hips and a grim smile on her lips.

BUFFY

Come and get me!

The dead girls immediately moves forward in her direction but once again come to an halt as

they suddenly surrounded by the rest of the alive slayers, the three watchers, the two

vampires and ILLYRIA.

BUFFY

Oh.

(mocked surprise)

Did I forget to tell you it was a trap?

After some hesitation the dead girls scatter in different directions, in order to engage in a

fight. We FOCUS on Buffy as shes charged at by three girls at the same time. The blonde

slayer seems to have some difficulty in fighting them off. As from nowhere Illyria shows up

and rips all three girls of off Buffy in one swift motion.

BUFFY

(coughing)

Thanks!

FAITH

(yelling)

Theyre too strong, B!

GILESAnd they cant be killed by stakes!!

JOHN

Or by crossbows!!

FOCUS on Illyria as she picks on of the dead girls up by the throat and rips the head off

without any effort. The body slumps to the ground motionless. As does the head shortly

thereafter.

FOCUS on SPIKE as he copies Illyrias method and dispose of three girls rather quickly. In a

matter of seconds the two of them have managed to kill their enemies except for one. The

dead slayer is held firmly by Illyria and doesnt seem too pleased about it.

ILLYRIA

The trouble with being infallible is that you have to deal with everyone else making

mistakes.

GILES

Is that a gentle reminder that youve been an important part of this since the very

beginning?

ANGEL

Shes subtle, huh?

GILES

(scrutinizing the dead slayer)

Shes not a zombie, but seems to be in a suspended animated state.

BUFFY

Huh?

ILLYRIA

They can be destroyed.

(tightening the grip)

That is all that matters.

GILES

Remember we want it for questioning.

ILLYRIA

(vicious glare)

I remember clearly.(beat)

Worm.

GILES

(indignantly)

Beg you pardon?!

FOCUS on Illyria as she turns her back against him and starts walking out of the cemetery

with her captive in a strict grip.

BUFFY(sighing)

Lets follow the overgrown smurf.

A WIDE SHOT as the entire group slowly leaves the cemetery.

ACT I VINT. THE HYPERION BASEMENT L.A TIME UNKNOWN

SPOTLIGHT on the DEAD SLAYER. She seems to be tied u to the chair in which shessitting in. and she sure doesnt look happy about it. Theres actually some serious growling

going on there.

BUFFY

(o.c)

Shes so a zombie.

FAITH

(o.c)

m telling ya she isnt!

ZOOMING OUT to a WIDE SHOT of the scene to reveal BUFFY, FAITH. GILES, JOHN and

WILLOW standing in front of the prisoner. (A.N: Buffys now wearing jeans, a blue blouse

and has her hair in a braid. Willow wears an all black outfit as does Faith. Both Giles and

John wears the obligatory watcher suit.)

GILES

(sighing)

We dont know what she is. Yet.

JOHN

Thats why we want Willow to do a revealing spell.

WILLOW

(shy wave)

Thats me!!

BUFFY

(raised eyebrow)Hows it coming, Willow?

WILLOW

(huffing)

Slower than I expected, but faster than humanly possible.

FOCUS on Willow as her hair slowly turns white. Her head snaps back and theres

incoherent words coming out of her mouth.

PANNING OUT as the prisoner starts spasm in her chair.

BUFFY

(acquiring)

FAITH

(shrugging)

BUFFY

(talking slowly)

Can you understand us?

NO RESPONSE.

BUFFY

(even slower)

Can you speak?

NO RESPONSE.

BUFFY

(pronunciation)

Can. You. Hear. Me?

STILL NO RESPONSE.

BUFFY

(turning towards the others)

I slightly suspect that were dealing with a moron.

JOHN

Im sorry to say this, Buffy

BUFFY

(sulking)

Bet you are.

JOHN

(ignoring her)

But maybe it needs persuasion?

(beat)

GILES

(cleaning his glasses)

I dont understand. Willows spell should have made sure that this thing will communicate

with us.

DEAD SLAYER

It will swallow us all.

SILENCE.

FOCUS on the varieties looks of astonishment amongst the others as they stare at the dead

girl. She in turn stars right ahead with her creepy bloodstained eyes.

BUFFY

(roughly)

What will?

DEAD SLAYER

(horrible laughter)

It.(transfixing them with her eyes)

From the heat beneath

BUFFY

(shaking her head)

It devours.

DEAD SLAYER

It consumes.

CLOSE UP on the dead slayer as she suddenly slumps in the chair, blood running from her

eyes, ears, nose and mouth.

FAITH

Thats fucked up.

EXT. THE HYPERION ROOFTOP DOWNTOWN L.A SUNRISE

A CLOSE UP on SPIKE standing near the edge of the rooftop, eyes fixed on the rising sun.

The blonde vampire is dressed in brown cargos and a white shirt. Suddenly theres a shiver

running down his entire body and he gets a strange look in his eyes.

SPIKE

(monotone voice)

From beneath you it consumes.

VOICE OF AERIN

(o.c)

It really does.

PANNING OUT to a WIDER SHOT of the scene/roof. What appears to be AERIN but

couldnt be anything but THE FIRST, is approaching Spike. It looks rather fetching in a black

bohemian skirt and a green blouse. The long ravened hair whips in the soft breeze.

THE FIRST

Hello, cutie.

Spike moves forward so fast we cant really follow. All we know is that in one moment hes

standing at the edge of the rooftop and in the next his up close with the First, holding theentity in a firm grip by the throat.

SPIKE

(sneering)

Time to die.

The First simply smiles, before going all poof and appearing only a few meters away from

the irritated vampire.

THE FIRST

(inquiringly)

Would you really kill me, Spike? When theres a part ofherin me?

(beat)

Im all thats left of Aerin.

FOCUS on Spike as he stumbles away, a lone tear trickling out of his eye.

THE FIRST

(sweet smile)

SPIKE

(distressed)

THE FIRST

(wistfully)

Think of all the death and mayhem we could cause together.

(beat)

I could even assume this shape all time. If you want me to.

(shaking his head)

INT. THE HYPERION LOBBY L.A DAYBREAK

A WIDE SHOT of the lobby. Theres quite the little gathering going on here. BUFFY, GILES,

WILLOW, XANDER, DAWN, CANDY, KATIE, FIONA, JADE, JOHN, ANGEL, ILLYRIA

and ANDREW.

GILES

(cleaning his glasses)

The little we got out from the dead girl

(beat)

Her name was Moira by the way

(putting the glasses back on)

was that it is the First who was behind this attack.

JOHN

(sternly)

Its evident that whatever plans the First might have theyre escalating.

ANDREW

(nodding)

And were in its way.

FIONABut what can we do?

(looking around)

The First cant be destroyed.

ILLYRIA

(blankly)

Everything can be destroyed.

FOCUS on Illyria as she tilts her head and look around the room. Her eyes hesitate for a

moment on Dawn for what reason we cant fathom, before continuing to Giles.

ILLYRIA

We need book. Ancient books.

(pause)

The books ofRuakkhu.

GILES

(breathlessly)

The books of the most ancient dark magic.

WILLOW

(almost drooling)

Really?

A MOMENTS PAUSE.

GILES

(turning to Illyria)You know of something in those who can bring down the First?

ILLYRIA

GILES

Then well get you these books.

A WIDE SHOT of the room as the sound of a knock is heard from the front door. Everyone

in the room turns as one to face the door as a second knock is heard.

BUFFY

(resigned)

What now?

DAWN

(raised eyebrow)

Shouldnt someone get that?

PAUSE.

ANOTHER KNOCK.

FOCUS on Angel as he sighs and starts walking towards the door with slow steps. When he

reach it, theres a moments hesitation before he open the doors. And staggers back in shock.

ANGLE on Buffy as she reacts to the vampires obvious distress. Theres a frown on her face

as she begins to walk towards the door.

BUFFY

Who is it?

NO RESPONSE.

BUFFY

Angel?

BUFFY POV as she focus on the vampire by the door. As she comes closer she peeks over his

shoulder and we get a TIGHT SHOT of a smiling CONNOR!!

CONNORHi, dad.
