Since 2012, CSIA has prepared Carbon road map & set long term

target to reduce carbon footprint.

Implemented a comprehensive Carbon Accounting and

Management System (CAMS), in compliance of ISO 14064:2006;

third party verification.

Airport Carbon Management

One of the first few airports in Asia Pacific to be accredited under Airport

Carbon Accreditation at Level-1 (Mapping) in May 2012.

Our initiatives to reduce carbon emissions have resulted positively;

upgraded the accreditation from Level-1 (Mapping) to Level-2

(Reduction) in 2013 and upgraded successfully to level 3

(Optimisation) in 2015.

In year 2017 MIAL certified to ACA Level 3+ Neutrality

Airport carbon Management -A-CDM

A-CDM application has been developed in collaboration with Airports Authority ofIndia (AAI)which aims at improving operational efficiency, reducing taxiing time,improving the predictability of events & effectively utilize available slots.

Airport Carbon Management -FEGP & PCA

Fixed electrical Ground Power (FEGP) and Pre conditioned Air (PCA) facility at allaerobridges at CSIA.

Green Building Certification

The New Integrated Terminal 2 at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airporthas been awarded LEED ‘Gold’ Certification for new Construction fromIndian Green Building Council (IGBC) for its environmentally sustainableprofile.

The New Integrated Terminal 2 has been awarded the prestigious “Platinum” ratingby IGBC in 2016, becoming the first Indian airport to hold this rating within theExisting Building (O&M) Rating System.

Sewage Treatment Plant (SBR Technology)

Resource Efficiency -Waste Water Mgt

Three sewage Treatment plants at T1, T2 and Cargo advancedtreatment such as SBR, PSF, UF & RO. Treated sewage is being usedfor Toilet flushing & cooling purpose in HVAC.

Solar Power Installations

MIAL generates 2.70 MW of roof top solar power towards climate action. The nextphase of the solar project will include plant installations of 1.0 MW in coming years.

Energy Reduction Initiatives

Various energy reduction initiatives are being taken in the areas of LED lights, HVAC & renewable energy.

In year 2016-17, the total electricity units saved are 51.07 lakh KWh

Total energy harvested through Roof top Solar Powerinstallations in one year is 40.0 lakh units

CSIA awarded the prestigious “Natural Capital Award -2017”in the Eco Corporate

(Services) category under the „YES BANK Natural Capital Awards‟ program. The

esteemed award was conferred by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of

Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Ministry of Science & technology and

Earth Sciences, Government of India.

Awards, organised by the World CSR Congress at Bengaluru in Sept.17.
