    W aste is an unavoidableby-product of humanactivities. Economicdevelopment, urbanizationand improved living standardsin cities increase the quantity

    and complexity of generatedsolid waste. Thus, managing solidwaste management and disposal(SWMD) has become a criticalproblem for the government dueto unstructured managementplans and higher awareness of public health and bettereducation.

    Currently most wastes aredisposed into poorly managed

    control tipping with little or nopollution protection measures. This conventional disposal methodis land dominance with poormaintenance and the payment forthe use of it is currently madeindirectly through the annualhousing assessment fee andunknown to the households.

    ALUMINIUM INGOTS FROM USEDBEVERAGE CANS

    A beverage can is a metal container designedto hold a fixed portion of liquid such as acarbonated soft drink, alcoholic beverage, fruit juice, herbal tea etc. Beverage cans are made of aluminium (75% of worldwide production) or tin-plated steel (25% worldwide production).Worldwide production for all beverage cans isapproximately 52 billion units.Aluminium recycling is the process by which scrap

    aluminium can be reused in products after its initialproduction. The process involves simply re-meltingthe metal, which is far less expensive and energy intensive than creating new aluminium through theelectrolysis of aluminium oxide (Al 2O 3), which mustfirst be mined from bauxite ore and then refined usingthe Bayer process. Recycling scrap aluminiumrequires only 5% of the energy used to make newaluminium. For this reason, approximately 31% of all aluminium produced in the United States comesfrom recycled scrap. Used beverage containers arethe largest component of processed aluminium scrap,with most UBC scrap manufactured back intoaluminium cans.

    Ingot and billet play an integral part in theproduction of many aluminium products. Plate, sheet,foil, wire, rod, and bar products are all produced by pressing or rolling ingot and billet.

    Ingot and billet are cast from molten aluminium.In the cast house, crucibles of molten aluminiumempty their silvery liquid either directly into molds orinto a holding furnace where the metal is kept moltenat temperatures between 1,200 and 1,500 degreesFahrenheit. Alloying elements are then added.

    Most metal is cast by the direct-chill (DC) process,which produces huge sheet ingot for rolling mills,

    round log like billet for extrusion presses, or squarebillet for production of wire, rod, and bar.ADVANTAGES

    The recycling of aluminium generally producessignificant cost savings over the production of newaluminium even when the cost of collection,separation and recycling are taken into account Overthe long term, even larger national savings are madewhen the reduction in the capital costs associatedwith landfills, mines and international shipping of raw aluminium are considered.

    Aluminium recycling is economically beneficialto both the aluminium and recycling industry. Thecapital cost for the production of recycled aluminiumis already recognized to be far lower than makingnew aluminium. The financial benefit has alsospurred the development of the recycling program.

    The price of scrap aluminium has fluctuated inthe market but its traditionally high value has

    generated enough income. Aluminium cans are theposter child of the recycling movement. This is by farthe most valuable component in the solid wastestream. The aluminium can is also the mostrecognized recyclable item among household waste.

    However, internationally, the pattern of consumption is in favour of transportation, primarily due to large-scale aluminium consumption by theaviation industry. White goods account for nearly 5%of aluminium consumption in the country. Theproducts include electric fans, air conditioners,refrigerators and coolers. The white goods industry uses both extruded products and flats.

    In the transportation sector, aluminium is usedfor panelling, floors and windows. So far, it is notused for structural parts and bodies of automobiles.An Indian car uses only about 54 kg of aluminiumagainst a global average of 100 to 110 kg. This setsthe high potential for growth with the increase inthe automobile sector.

    Demand for aluminium is estimated to grow at 4to 6% per annum. The demand for the metal isexpected to pick up as the scenario improves for userindustries like power, infrastructure andtransportation, which are all on the move.

Of the seedsprocessed for oil, about equal thirds are dehulled,partially dehulled or left with hulls on for processing.

    Sunflower oil is the non-volatile oil expressedfrom sunflower (Helianthus annuus) seeds. Sunfloweroil is commonly used in food as a frying oil, and incosmetic formulations as an emollient.     Several types of sunflower oils are produced, suchas high linoleic, high oleic and mid oleic. Mid-linoleicsunflower oil typically has at least 69% linoleic acid.High oleic sunflower oil has at least 82% oleic acid.Variation in unsaturated fatty acids profile is strongly influenced by both genetics and climate.
