Enrollment, Retention, and Completion Report 2020

Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics

Introduction The Enrollment, Retention, and Completion Report is an annual report that tracks the progress of new and continuing students. Included are historical data on enrollment, retention, graduation, transfer/transfer-out, credit accumulation, college-level proficiency, and course completion. The purpose of the report is to provide information on various indicators of student success. The use of multiple cohorts allows for comparisons of previous semesters and a method of tracking continued student progress. From the data provided in the report, it is the intention of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Analytics that administrative, education, and student support (AES) units are able to use the information to inform policy and other decision-making processes.

Overview • Overall enrollment has decreased in all semesters in 2019 compared to 2018. Prior to

2019, enrollment in fall and spring has been decreasing, and enrollment in summer and winter has been increasing.

• Percentage of first-time full-time freshmen completing both a college level math and English course within their first academic year has increased to 40.3% in fall 2018 from 35.5% in the prior year. Courses MAT 56 and MAT 56.5 are included as college-level math courses.

• One-year retention rate, among first-time full-time freshmen, has increased to 59.7%in the fall 2018 from 57.8% in the prior year.

• Three-year graduation rate, among first-time full-time freshmen, has increased to 24.5% in the fall 2018 from 22.4% in the prior year.
