SmarTeam to Aras migration Challenges and Solutions Challenges Solutions

Requires a company with both SmarTeam and Aras programming

capabilities, data model and database understanding,

application understanding and business processes.

SmarTeam data extraction techniques using API scan be slow

when dealing with large data sets.

xLM has developed a methodology to extract SmarTeam data

without using API which will avoid such issues.

With any database system there may be data integrity issues.

xLM has developed database reports to identify such issues and

either correct them or allow the customer to fix them.

SmarTeam data may need to be precleaned to avoid possible

migration issues such as duplicate file names non allowed

characters.

xLM has developed data clean up routines to replace / strip

unsupported characters or bad file names.

Every SmarTeam and Aras customer will most likely have

different data models.

xLM’s SmarTeam to Aras migration tool is configurable to handle

the different data models. The tool will follow an 80 / 20 percent

rule; it can handle 80% of the migration out of the box and the

remaining 20% will involve configuration of the tool for the

specific customer implementation.

Migration Services • Migration Assesment – xLM will review current PLM environment,

interview key stakeholders and recommend how to best configure Aras and map legacy data to it. It will also determine if any current customizations can be supported by Aras out of the box functionality or would need to be redeveloped for Aras.’

• Aras Install and Configuration - xLM will conduct the Aras implementation from requirements gathering, installation, configuration, testing, training and support. xLM can take full ownership of such tasks or work in an advisory role to the Client.

• Data Migration Only – xLM will assume Aras is already configured or will be configured and will purely migrate the legacy data to Aras.

• Migration of SmarTeam Customizations to Aras – xLM will port / redevelop any customization in current legacy system that cannot be supported by Aras out of the box functionality.

Estimated Cost • Any migration will consist of

– (1) Toolset and methodologies to help with the migration

– (2) Services to configure the toolset, test the migration and conduct the production migration

• (1) Cost for the Toolset: $7,500.00 USD

• (2) Services are estimated to be between 5-30 Days, depending on: – Amount of data to migrate
