Advanced English Summer Reading Requirement I'm excited to work with you all this fall in Siblings, Sisterhood, and Twins: Literature of Family. For your summer reading assignment, you must read TWO selections from the list below. A Death in the Family by James Agee Franny and Zooey by J. D. Salinger Salvage the Bones by Jesmyn Ward Geek Love by Katherine Dunn The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen If you’ve already read a book on this list, please choose two others. You don't need to do anything specific with the texts this summer, but you will need to present on at least one of them this fall so I'd suggest you annotate fully as you go and come in with a working memory of what you read. In addition to this, please read 12 books off the recommended reading list put out to all 1112th grade English classes. Feel free to reach out with questions. I'm working at St. Paul's School in NH this summer so apologies if it takes me a day or two to get back to you. Please keep in mind that, due to scheduling conflicts, it is possible that some of you may not end up in this course, in which case, I've already checked with other faculty members and this will be sufficient summer reading regardless of which course fits into your schedule.
