Has won “many” literary Awards
was the first ever “Canadian Parliamentary Poet Laureate” (Official appointed Poet of the Canadian government)
Was also novelist, historian and biographer
Also was made an officer of the “Order of Canada”, which is a Canadian service award
These things relate to the fact that most if not all his poems (the ones in our Book) are political and social
