GDF SUEZ CHINA will fully rely on GDF SUEZ Group’s advantages in terms of Investment, Research & Development and Innovation, increasing its investment in the Chinese market, actively seeking partnership and cooperation with key Chinese players in the energy field, accelerating the pace of development in the market, and quickly becoming a significant player in Chinese Energy market.

GDF SUEZ in China

In the 90’s, Gaz de France established strong relationships and cooperation with the Chinese gas industries, and provided training and engineering services for various gas distribution projects in cities such as Beijing, Chengdu, Xian and Shanghai. SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT – the environment unit of SUEZ and a world leading company for environmental services has been active in China for over 40 years. In 2008, Gaz de France and SUEZ merged to form a world energy giant: GDF SUEZ.

In 2008, GDF SUEZ opened its first representative office in China and started to develop relationship and cooperation with Chinese partners in the energy field such as: Natural Gas, LNG, Gas infrastructure, Energy services and Engineering services etc., for projects in China as well as in overseas markets.

As a global energy player, GDF SUEZ also has high ambition in China. For this reason, the Group has recently created a dedicated Business Unit in charge of all activities in China and having a direct reporting line with CEO of the Group: GDF SUEZ CHINA.

1991–2000Gas engineering contracts signed in

Beijing, Chengdu, Xian and Shanghai. In 1996, Gaz de France designed

the first industrial gas liquefaction for Chinese client in China.

1985Signature of gas cooperation agreement between Gaz de France and Beijing Municipal Utilities Bureau.

2008Opening of GDF SUEZ

representative office in China.

2009Started the Energy services in China: first heating and cooling network in Chongqing.

2010Started the LNG business

in China: first LNG cargo delivered to Shanghai LNG

terminal.

2011GDF SUEZ signed a worldwide partnership with the Chinese sovereign fund CIC granting the latter a 30% share in GDF SUEZ exploration and production activities.GDF SUEZ sold 2.3 million metric tons of LNG to the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), with deliveries beginning in 2013.GDF SUEZ participated in the construction of the first floating regasification terminal in China by chartering one of its FSRU to CNOOC.

2012GDF SUEZ began cooperation

with PetroChina to explore the upstream gas potential in

Qatar.

2013Started the underground gas storage business in China with PetroChina (technical support for evaluating six gas storage sites of PetroChina).Arrival of the first floating LNG regasification terminal in China (for CNOOC in Tianjin).Signed a Project Management and Consulting contract for the Shanghai Wuhaogou LNG terminal expansion work.GDF SUEZ also provided engineering and training services for various gas projects in China, notably in the field of gas distribution and LNG.

2014On the occasion of the visit of a high level Chinese

delegation to France, Gérard MESTRALLET, Chairman and CEO of GDF SUEZ, signed a cooperation

agreement with WANG Dong, Chairman of Beijing Enterprise Group, to develop natural gas and energy

efficiency projects in China. Chinese and French Presidents XI Jinping and François HOLLANDE were

China, a High Ambition for GDF SUEZ…

Like oil and coal, natural gas originates from the natural transformation of organic matter into gas, with the significant distinctive feature of being the least polluting fossil fuel. Considerably less contaminating in combustion than its equivalent in coal or heavy fuel oil, natural gas is an ideal choice for more environment-friendly energy production. In addition, LNG presents particular advantages in terms of storage and distribution.

From the gas field to the end user, the gas chain comprises many links such as exploration–production, underground gas storages, LNG terminal, transport and distribution by land pipelines or by sea in the form of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Gas Infrastructures play a key role in the whole gas value chain.

Research and Innovation

— A high priority in GDF SUEZ

Why innovate at GDF SUEZ?

For several years, different factors have changed our approach towards innovation:

> The pace of innovation on information technologies, nanotechnologies and biotechnologies has dramatically accelerated;> New consumers’ expectations have emerged (speed, transparency, co–building of solutions), towards a more active role;> Evolutions in demography, and in governance: rapid urbanization, a stronger political role for cities, a stronger demand for a local management of resources, fueled by environmental and social awareness.

At GDF SUEZ, we have been innovating for 160 years; our goal today is to accelerate the pace of innovation in order to meet these new challenges.

GDF SUEZ’s approach relies on

two main principles for action:

> Entrepreneurial;> Technological creativity.

The first high priority domains

we identified are:

> Cities and mobility;> Home comfort;> Decentralized energy

production, demand side management and energy storage.
