Over-the-Month Highlights
• AZ unemployment rate (SA) remained unchanged at 4.9%; US unemployment rate (SA) decreased to 3.9%
• Arizona gained 5,300 Nonfarm jobs (0.2%), less than the post-recessionary (‘10-’17) average gain of 10,100 jobs
• The Private Sector gained 3,300 jobs (0.1%)
• Nine of the eleven major sectors gained jobs; two recorded losses

Over-the-Year Highlights
• Arizona added 63,100 Nonfarm jobs (2.3%)
• Private Sector added 63,300 jobs (2.7%)
• Nine major sectors added jobs
• The largest gains were recorded in Education and Health Services (14,400 jobs) and Construction (12,600 jobs)
• Two major sectors reported losses
• Information lost 300 jobs and Government lost 200 jobs

Report Summary
• OTM Nonfarm employment gains were smaller than post-recession average
• Below-average gains recorded in TTU and PBS
• OTY Nonfarm employment growth of 63,100 jobs (2.3%)
• The Private Sector gained 2.7% OTY
• Nine out of eleven sectors recorded positive employment growth
• Five of seven metro areas recorded positive employment growth
• The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.9%
• Positive changes in labor force, employment and unemployment levels over the year
• Labor force levels have increased 347,507 (2.2% growth) over the past 5 years (April 2013-April 2018)
