The Empirical Superyacht Regatta and Ocean Ambassadors Club ambition is to bring together 30 founding members to raise the capital to acquire Athena the 90 meter (295 foot ) three mast schooner built by Royal Huisman to be used as the Clubhouse and acquire a J Class racing yacht and assemble a professional racing team, and acquire other superyachts for the use of club members in different  locations around the world. 

J Class Yachts attract interest and recognition from all over the world.  Interest in J Class yachts is greater now than at any time in their 80 year history. Their mystique remains, largely for their breathtaking grace and stately beauty, as well as their intriguing history. With their long overhangs, low freeboards, and sleek lines, these beautifully proportioned racing machines with their carbon rigs, combine beauty with racing performance and are one of the most awe-inspiring sights, that are guaranteed to draw attention and admiration wherever they sail.   J Class yachts are bred for racing, and it's their one design class that makes them so ideal for the sport. When you see the J Class yachts out on the racecourse, the first thing that catches the eye, besides their staggering beauty, is that the race is so close.

 The Allure of the J Class

The camera has always loved their sweeping lines and frozen the elegance of racing in an instant of silent beauty. But for the full picture, you have to hear a J Class at close quarters. These giant machines resound with the groaning of ropes under strain. Elegance and power in perfect harmony.

The 10 major points of Club Equity Membership. 

1. Club Equity Membership (ownership interest)  EUR5,000,000 all-inclusive lifetime membership.

2. Equity membership may be sold back to the club after 10 years for full return of capital.

3. Club members benefit by claiming an ownership in the club that acquires some of the world's greatest superyachts. 

4. Club members enjoy the lifestyle of the sport of regatta competition and social events, and are able to invite guests onboard Athena during and after regattas, use yachts for promoting their business, invite VIP guests onboard the racing yachts for exhibition races, and schedule private use of yachts for entertaining at regattas and club rendezvous locations.

5. There is no financial burden of the racing campaign or general overheads. 

6. Membership includes all yacht management and operating expenses, permanent crew, racing crew, regatta fees, insurance,  sail inventory, surveys, repairs and maintenance.         

7. As the club grows and acquires more yachts members will have a choice of yachts and locations to entertain guests. 

8. The club treasury account will generate income to sponsor the racing campaign and fund the general overheads.

9. Members  have nothing more to pay other than expenses such as flights to the superyacht regatta or yacht location, on-shore accommodation and contribute towards personal onboard food and alcohol and when entertaining private guests. 

10. The goal is for membership numbers to grow so as to acquire and campaign a number of racing yachts at the superyacht regattas and meet at regular club rendezvous to invite guests onboard for racing, cruising and entertaining. 

Objectives

From July 2016 the Club will begin to promote the opportunity to be one of the 30 founding members to raise capital for the acquisition of Athena  and one of the existing J Class yachts and the funding of the club treasury account that will sponsor all overheads of yachts and the racing campaign. J Class yachts currently available are Ranger and Endeavour. Ranger’s asking price is 7 million Euro and Endeavour’s asking price is 17.5 million Euro. Other existing J Class yachts may become available and also the club will  explore the possibly of commissioning the building of J9.

Acquisition of Ocean Runner a 34 meter (112 foot) custom built carbon fiber yacht that will be used to promote the Ocean Ambassadors Initiative.

Members may take advantage of countless opportunities where they can promote their ownership interest in the club that owns  Athena and J Class racing yachts and sponsors the racing campaign.

Members are seen to be associated with a powerful blend of fiercely intense competition, teamwork, elegance and power, that can be used to raise awareness and reinforce their image or the image of their company.  

Members may make use of the yachts for entertaining, media events and promotions. The club will also promote exhibition races and events capable of attracting VIP guest participation, as well as media coverage.

The acquisition of Athena and the first J Class racing yacht will serve as the first building block upon which the club will grow membership numbers that will enable the club to acquire other superyachts.  The club may also look to invest within the yachting industry or related marine industries in which the club can realize synergies and cost-savings.

Conservation philanthropy will support foundations such as Oceana, The 5 Gyres Institute, The Ocean Foundation, The Ocean Cleanup, The Plastic Oceans Foundation, and support research or educational projects that are capable of attracting significant public attention and that, as a result, may genuinely increase public and government awareness of the urgent need to protect the marine environment.

Members will explore the viability of establishing a venture capital and private equity fund that will make direct investments into ocean plastic waste conversion to fuel technology, open ocean farming, and other ocean friendly marine activities.

Ocean Ambassadors Initiative

As yachtsman we are all (or should be) concerned with the state of the world's oceans. Maintaining the health of the oceans is critical for the future of people and the planet. Yet, our oceans are suffering from the compounding threats of plastic pollution.

The Ocean Ambassadors initiative will be bring together club equity members  that will be dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans by supporting ocean conservation philanthropy and profit driven direct investments into organizations dedicated to reversing the trend of destruction of ocean environments around the world.
