1. Handicap Assistance Device For Appliance Control Using
User-Defined Gestures
Abstract
Traditional input systems for interaction with machines include keyboards,
joystick or the mouse. Those suffering from physical handicaps such as Carpel
Tunnel Syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis or Quadriplegia may be unable to use
such forms of input . In this paper, we propose a
“Human Machine Interfacing Device” utilizing hand gestures to communicate with
computers and other embedded systems acting as an intermediary to an
appliance. Developments in field of communication have enabled computer
commands being executed using hand gestures. Inertial navigation sensor like
an accelerometer is utilized to get dynamic/static profile of movement to navigate
the mouse on the computer or provide commands to appliances, thus
accelerometer profiles are converted into wireless interactivity. The device
involves nontactile interaction with machines to manipulate or control them in
accordance with hand gestures.

2. Real Time Monitoring Critical Parameters In Tissue Culture
Growth Room With Sms Alert System
Abstract
Real-time monitoring critical parameter is enhanced with email and short
messaging system (SMS) for alert system. This system consists of four
subsystems which include data acquisition, website monitoring, email protocol
and SMS system. The aim of the integrated system is to remotely monitor critical
parameter in tissue culture growth room. Research has shown that factors such
as temperature, humidity, liquid, phase and gas compositions are critical in
producing quality clonal materials using tissue culture process. Consequently,
sensors are required to monitor and record the data in growth room. All sensors
will monitor critical parameters that will be linked to the database and analysis
software for storing and analyzing the monitored data. For the purpose of
remotely monitor critical parameter, website and SMS enquiry are developed.
The system would monitor via telemetry system and provide automatically email
or short message (SMS) notifications upon identification of a disturbance module.

3. Identifying Objects Using Rf Transmitters And Receivers,
And Retrieving Data Using Gsm
Abstract
To provide a system for monitoring and locating objects using Radio Frequency
(RF) transmitters and receivers, and querying about the objects using mobile
phones. An object represents a real world entity. This system is based on RF
transmitters that are tagged to the objects of everyday use and have the
capability of transmitting signals and a receiver that detects the transmission of
the tagged object and stores its corresponding location in the database which is
created specifically for information maintenance of the tagged objects. Mobile
phones are used to query the location of the tagged object by sending a
message to the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) connected to a Global System
for Mobile Communications (GSM) modem. This GSM modem fetches the
location and other relevant information from the database and encapsulates this
information into a message which is sent back to the mobile phone that has
requested the information.

Abstract
Time and efficiency are matter of priority now. RFID (Radio Frequency
Identification) emerges as one of the converging technologies. While
transportation plays an important role in urbanization, RFID is now key catalyst
in signifying the merit of it. RFID plays major role in auto TD applications like
RFID contact less smart cards used by bus riders, in Super market, Textiles and
logistics chain management. This paper aims to understand the benefits of RFID
technology in other countries and to identify possibilities extending it to Indian
market. The Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) has been a great
success in providing both voice and low speed data services. The Enhanced
Circuit Switched Data on GSM (ECSD) is one of the major evolutionary steps to
serve real time high speed data services. Population explosion is the source of
so many issues, one among them is transport. In this paper, we propose a novel
method to tackle traffic related issues. Applications such as accident alert, toll
gate control, parking slot management, traffic rule violation control are explained
in this paper.

13. Nems 1. Reversing radar system based on can bus
Abstract
To reduce the traffic accidents when backing and parking, we develop a sort of
vehicle reverse sensor alarming system based on the CAN bus. The system can
be divided into the range acquisition module, the system control module, the bus
node controller and the display alarm module. The range acquisition subsystem
adopts the ultrasonic technology to measure the distance between the vehicle
and the obstacle real time. The system control module takes P89V51RD2 single
chip microcomputer as the main processing unit to control the running of the
whole system and control various interface circuits. The reverse sensor system
connects with the auto digitization platform through the CAN bus, and realizes
the automatic self-correction of the detecting system according to the data
sharing. The system can eliminate the puzzle induced by the parking and
starting, enhance the security of the driving, reduce the traffic accidents and
decrease the manufacturing cost. The system is convenient to be extended in the
market.

17. Ems 2001. Hero: inter region based vehicle location routing
information and tracking of system using both active & passive
rfid
Abstract
Intelligent transportation systems have become increasingly important for the
public transportation in Shanghai. In response, ShanghaiGrid (SG) project aims
to provide abundant intelligent transportation services to improve the traffic
condition. A challenging service in SG is to accurately locate the positions of
moving vehicles in real time. In this paper, we present an innovative scheme,
Hierarchical Exponential Region Organization (HERO), to tackle this problem. In
SG, the location information of individual vehicles is actively logged in local
nodes which are distributed throughout the city. For each vehicle, HERO
dynamically maintains an advantageous hierarchy on the overlay network of local
nodes to conservatively update the location information only in nearby nodes. By
bounding the maximum number of hops the query is routed, HERO guarantees
to meet the real-time constraint associated with each vehicle.

routing in wireless body sensor mesh networks using zigbee
technology
Abstract
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are a significant technology that has a
considerable attraction in many areas, particularly in health sector. On the other
hand wireless mesh networks, which are an extension of LAN, have far better
range and also reduce the amount of cabling needed to connect to the backbone
network. In this paper a scheme that is Wireless Sensor based Mesh Networks,
which is an integration of the above two technologies has been proposed. This
scheme also incorporates agent technology in its functioning. A hierarchical
agent based layered architecture of this scheme, meant for health applications,
have also been discussed. The functioning and the coordinating roles of the
agents – both static and mobile, in such an architecture has been fully explained
and the implementation of the scheme for healthcare application with the
template in PDA using J2ME as a first step as also been presented.

20. Ems 2004. Design and development of autonomous
navigatin of robot using hybrid (manual & automated) control
and feedback system through wireless technology)
Abstract
With the widespread diffusion of digital computers, hybrid control systems
combine discrete as well as continuous systems by means of computer software
in order to control physical processes. This paper presents the design and
development of a computer-based feedback control system for an RF remote-
controlled robot. The robot is wirelessly connected to a transmitter/receiver circuit
through two RF remote control units ensuring fast and reliable five-bit, two-way
communication. The transmitter/receiver circuit is connected to the Serial port of
a PC running a Java™ application. The program provides two functionalities for
the robot: a closed-loop control system that allows the robot to automatically
follow a line, and an open-loop system that allows the user to manually control
the robot through a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The computer-based
feedback control system is a demonstration of a reactive hybrid system where
flexible computer instructions form the logic unit that controls a continuous
process. The system can be easily modified to enhance the capabilities of the

21. Ems 2005. Driver fatigue & drowsiness detection system
using hand pressure, eye wink & heart rate
Abstract
This paper presents a method for detecting the early signs of fatigue/drowsiness
during driving. Analysing some biological and environmental variables, it is
possible to detect the loss of alertness prior to the driver falling asleep. As a
result of this analysis, the system will determine if the subject is able to drive.
Heart rate variability (HRV), steering-wheel grip pressure, as well as temperature
difference between the inside and outside of the vehicle, make possible to
estimate in an indirect way the driver’s fatigue level. A hardware system has
been developed to acquire and process these variables, as well as an algorithm
to detect beats and calculate the HRV taking into account the others aspects
mentioned before.

Abstract
Consumer electronic devices are becoming more complex and diverse. In order
to provide users with an easy and convenient way of controlling various
consumer electronics, it is necessary to use a universal way to control various
devices. This requires using a user-friendly and intuitive interface. We introduce
a wristwatch-type of remote that offers a unified way to control various devices.
Total of seven gestures that are based on hand motions are defined. These
seven gestures are suitable to the wearable wristwatch-type device. For a variety

designed and analyzed in a discrete manner; instead, they are designed in
continuous hand motions and analyzed in gesture commands. Also, a method of
modeling a virtual menu from the menu on a consumer electronic device is
introduced. With the virtual menu, the user is able to control various devices by
using gestures. The virtual menu has to reflect hand motion characteristics and
represents functions of electronic appliances. The virtual menu is implemented in
XML to represent the basic menu construction and its properties. In order to use
virtual menu, we introduce how a user’s hand motions can be used in a fast and
effective way. Finally we compare our wearable remote control to the
conventional remote control through user tests in terms of user convenience and
efficiency1.

Abstract
Because of the high-speed growth of computer control technology and electronic
information and communication technology, it led to the birth of intelligent home.
Smart Home is a versatile technology system, small from family of intelligent
control lighting, security precautions, the situation of the indoor environment
monitoring, large to the realization of different places or exotic home security,
monitoring, as well as medical care, distance education control, etc., in
Permeable all aspects of home, but in the past, in the control unit, the regular use
of Bluetooth technology to communicate control, Bluetooth technology has been
found have many advantages. But still there are many defects, in the industry,
especially for home automation, it is too obviously complicated, large-power,
short distance of communication, high prices and too small scale networking,
which has seriously hampered its development. Through the author's research, if
we can use the latest (2006) ZigBee technology to carry out research and
development, it will be able to perfectly solve the problem which the Bluetooth
technology can not solve, therefore, the design is particularly important, through
the author’s constant practice and improvement it has made good effect.

Abstract
This paper deals with the design & development of a theft control system for an
automobile, which is being used to prevent / control the theft of a vehicle. The
developed system makes use of an embedded system based on GSM
technology. The designed & developed system is installed in the vehicle. An
interfacing mobile is also connected to the microcontroller, which is in turn,
connected to the engine. Once, the vehicle is being stolen, the information is
being used by the vehicle owner for further processing. The information is
passed onto the central processing insurance system, where by sitting at a
remote place, a particular number is dialed by them to the interfacing mobile that
is with the hardware kit which is installed in the vehicle. By reading the signals
received by the mobile, one can control the ignition of the engine; say to lock it or
to stop the engine immediately. Again it will come to the normal condition only
after entering a secured password. The owner of the vehicle & the central
processing system will know this secured password. The main concept in this
design is introducing the mobile communications into the embedded system. The
designed unit is very simple & low Cost. The entire designed unit is on a single
chip. When the vehicle is stolen, owner of vehicle may inform to the central
processing system, then they will stop the vehicle by just giving a ring to that
secret number and with the help of SIM tracking knows the location of vehicle
and informs to the local police or stops it from further movement.

Intelligent transportation systems (ITSs) have become increasingly important for
public transportation in Shanghai, China. In response, ShanghaiGrid (SG) aims
to provide abundant intelligent transportation services to improve traffic
conditions. A fundamental service in SG is to locate the nearest desirable
vehicles for users. In this paper, we propose an innovative protocol called ANTS
to locate a desirable vehicle close to the querying user. The protocol finely
mimics the efficient searching strategy adopted by a lost ant searching for its
nest. Taking query locality into account, ANTS can retrieve the closest vehicles
satisfying the query with high probability but incurs small query latency and
modest network traffic. ANTS is a fully distributed and robust protocol and,
therefore, has good scalability. Extensive simulations based on the real road
network and the trace data of vehicle movements in Shanghai demonstrate the
efficacy of ANTS.
31. Ems 2015. A wireless design of low-cost irrigation system
using zigbee technology
Abstract
At present, labor-saving and water-saving technology is a key issue in irrigation.
A wireless solution for intelligent field irrigation system dedicated to Jew's-ear
planting in Lishui, Zhejiang, China, based on ZigBee technology was proposed in
this paper. Instead of conventional wired connection, the wireless design made
the system easy installation and maintenance. The hardware architecture and
software algorithm of wireless sensor/actuator node and portable controller,
acting as the end device and coordinator in ZigBee wireless sensor network
respectively, were elaborated in detail. The performance of the whole system
was evaluated in the end. The long-time smooth and proper running of the

AGENTS
Abstract
The application of wireless localizing agents in the occupancy detection of a
single-occupant ambient intelligent environment in the presence of visitors is
addressed in this paper. A wireless sensor network constructed from sensory
agents of PIR motion detection sensors and door contact sensors is employed to
collect the occupancy data from different areas in the ambient intelligent
environment. Additionally, an RSSI detection capability is integrated to create
wireless localizing agents along with tagging the occupant as a mobile node to
distinguish him/her from other occupants or visitors. It is shown that by using a
wireless sensor network of localizing agents for the occupancy detection of the
tagged occupant, the redundancy and noise in the occupancy signal is reduced;
hence, the efficiency of occupancy detection in different areas of the environment
is increased

Abstract
Mobile devices are rapidly evolving beyond their original design specification.
With the inclusion of innovative sensing and actuating facilities, the potential
application space of these new devices is huge. The challenge now becomes
harnessing the abilities’ of these instruments in innovative ways. It is the aim of
this paper to provide a unique service rich architecture integrating some of these
novel sensing capabilities (i.e. GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope) to provide a
potential “killer application” in the location and tracking space. Existing tracking
systems in the mobile devices area are quite invasive for the user and labour
intensive from a commercial perspective. The architecture proposed here is
much more transparent, can be entirely automated and incorporates a Rich
Internet Architecture (RIA) approach, a first for this type of scenario.

48. EMS 2032. BUS DETECTION DEVICE FOR THE BLIND USING
RFID APPLICATION
Abstract
This paper outlines a bus detection mechanism for the blind in traveling from one
place to another. In order to get transportation independently, the blind use
auditory Devices. The limitation of the walking stick or auditory Devices is that a
blind person must come into close proximity with their surroundings to determine
the location of an obstacle. For that basis, various devices have been developed
such as the Sonic guide, the Mowat sensor, the Laser cane and the Navbelt [4].
However, this device can only assist the blind at a pedestrian crossing.
Therefore, the project is aims to develop a bus detection prototype using Radio
Frequency Identification (RFID) for the blind. The paper covers brief idea about
the blind and RFID system, review relevant papers and summary of current
research. The review of RFID system compare between families of auto-ID
technology, the basic principle of RFID, the type of RFID tagging and the
antenna characteristic. The summary of current research discussed about the
development of prototype, the database system, the output mechanism and
integration between hardware and software. Database management will
provided. The information such as bus route, final destination and bus number
are also provided. This paper also describes the future work intended to be done.

In recent years the mobile RFID was developed due to its wide convenience by
integrating the communication devices like PDA and mobile phone, it also directly
applicable to the purchasing transaction or small amount payment. However,
current RFID authentication schemes are not suitable to use in mobile RFID
environment since the proposed authentication schemes result in computing load
to the low cost tag and provide insufficient protection to the information privacy.
Therefore, we propose a lightweight authentication protocol in mobile RFID and
complied with EPC Class-1 Gen-2 norms, which effectively achieves forward
security with preventing replay, Man-in-the-Middle (MITM), eavesdropping, and
counterfeit tag attacks.

In recent years, the home environment has seen a rapid introduction of network
enabled digital technology. This technology offers new and exciting opportunities
to increase the connectivity of devices within the home for the purpose of home
automation. Moreover, with the rapid expansion of the Internet, there is the
added potential for the remote control and monitoring of such network enabled
devices. However, the adoption of home automation systems has been slow.
This paper identifies the reasons for this slow adoption and evaluates the
potential of ZigBee for addressing these problems through the design and
implementation of a flexible home automation architecture. A ZigBee based
home automation system and LAN network are integrated through a common
home gateway. The home gateway provides network interoperability, a simple
and flexible user interface, and remote access to the system. A dedicated virtual
home is implemented to cater for the system’s security and safety needs. To
demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed system, four
devices, a light switch, radiator valve, safety sensor and ZigBee remote control
have been developed and evaluated with the home automation system.

Abstract
This paper presents our experience in building an infrastructure of combining
ZigBee with Web Services for remote accessing and control of a network. A
prototype traffic monitoring system was implemented based on this infrastructure
as a proof-of-concept. However there is a much wider range of applications for
this infrastructure. Currently, the infrastructure mainly concerns with the
information delivery within the network. A multi-layer architecture was designed
and implemented so that the infrastructure can be flexible and extensible for
multiple applications. Within the infrastructure, the access points send data
collected from the wireless sensor network to the application server. The data is
then stored in a database on the application server for fast and reliable
TRANSACTIONS PAPER. Users may then request certain data through a Web
Service, or the data could be automatically delivered to the subscribers, which
are driven by specific events. The result of this preliminary work is an extensible
application framework for information delivery over a large and low-cost ZigBee
sensor network, and Web Services platform.

traditional quantitative approaches of analysis inappropriate. There is an
unavoidable substantial degree of fuzziness in the description of the behavior of
biological systems as well as their characteristics. Fuzzy logic provides a suitable
basis for the ability to summarize and extract from masses of data impinging
upon the human brain those facts that are related to the performance of the task
at hand. Therefore, this approach may be very suitable for intensive care
medicine, where experience and intuition play an important role in decision-
making. This paper surveys the utilisation of the fuzzy set theory in medical
sciences in general, as well as on the basis of two concrete medical fuzzy
applications.

microcontroller is optically coupled to the motor driving unit. Thus this unit allows
running a motor with five speed levels, which includes halt condition. The optical
coupling is done here to prevent AC return from motor. Thus this project is much
better than transistorized power control.

ROBOT TECHNOLOGY MIDDLEWARE (RTM) FOR 3 – AXIS ROBOT
Abstract
In this research, we develop an interactive robot supporting system, which uses
interactive GUI for supporting robot operation to acquire target object picking.
Interactive functions of service robotic system are indispensability because robot
has not enough capability in recognition and judgment. Robot Technology
Middleware (RTM) was used in the developed system. By using RTM, we can
develop robot functional elements as ”RT software components” that can be
implemented by different programming languages, run in different operating
system, or connected in different networks to inter-operate. This paper describes
the architecture of the proposed system and gives some experimental results.

Due to the high cost of fossil-based energy, several methods are proposed to
reduce the usage of the energy in logistics and fleet management to be even
more. GPS tracking system is a common approach to get vehicle location
information in real-time for fleet planning. We proposed a GPS tracking system
called Geo-Tracking that is composed of commodity hardware, open source
software and an easy-to-manage user interface via a web server with Google
Map or via Google Earth software. The system includes a GPS/GPRS module to
location acquisition and message transmission, MMC to temporary store location
information,. It has shown great stability and also robust message transfer
protocol that most of locations are accurately acquired and transmitted to the
server in real-time.

USING RFID
Abstract
Propagation of wireless technologies, mobile computing devices, and the Internet
has provided an opportunity to develop and deliver new types of location-based
applications and services to users. This paper presents a prototype application of
internal location-based service using passive RFID (Radio Frequency
Identification) to determine location. We also address some of the issues,
advantages and disadvantages of using RFID technology. The function of the
system is based on strategically located passive RFID tags with exclusive
identifiers placed around buildings which are identified using a RFID reader
attached to a PDA or mobile phone. The phone reads the RFID tag and through
the wireless network, sends the request to the server. The server resolves the
request and sends the answer which is in different format back to the phone. The
users will be able to locate their position by reading the RFID tag and selecting
the query or information desired.43, North Masi Street, Opposite of Krishnana Kovil, Simmakkal, Madurai – 9

Abstract
This project deals with the problems of utilization of mobile equipment working in
the biomedicine field, particularly telemedicine. This field is relatively new; it
focuses on the observation of life functions from a distance. Practically
developing system works with an Biomedical sensor connected to mobile
equipment, such as PDA/Embedded device, This work also deals with the
communication of mobile equipment with sensors and with the server via
Bluetooth or RF,. The mobile equipments are used primarily for measuring and
processing of data from the sensors and their visualization as a graph. The data
is also given to the server for further processing and the analysis of current
health of the patients, due to small efficiency of the mobile equipment. The main
task we deal with in the server part of application is receiving of the data via web
services and further processing, management and analysis of this data. For the
analysis of received data and further evaluation of the electrocardiogram, there is
a self-organizing neural network.

Mono modal biometric systems encounter a variety of security problems and
present sometimes unacceptable error rates. Some of these drawbacks can be
overcome by setting up multimodal biometric systems. Multimodal biometrics
consists in combining two or more biometric modalities in a single identification
system to improve the recognition accuracy. However features of different
biometrics have to be statistically independent. This paper proposes a
multimodal biometric systems using fingerprint and iris recognition.

Abstract
GPS is the emerging technology, and the usage is well known for tracking and
identification of a earth coordinates in a particular location. But the usage of gps
is yet more, yes it can also be used to determine the altitude. Our project uses
the gps for detecting the altitude. The project uses a microcontroller for reading
the altitude data from gps. The unit is made to float in the sea enclosed in a
water resistance float. The unit continues to monitor the height of wave, and if
once it crosses the default levels, it warns the control station, by means of sms or
RF link. Thus the control station can now alert regarding the rough status /
tsunami waves in sea.

In computing, multitasking is a method by which multiple tasks, also known as
processes, share common processing resources such as a CPU. In the case of a
computer with a single CPU, only one task is said to be running at any point in
time, meaning that the CPU is actively executing instructions for that task.
Multitasking solves the problem by scheduling which task may be the one
running at any given time, and when another waiting task gets a turn. The act of
reassigning a CPU from one task to another one is called a context switch. When
context switches occur frequently enough the illusion of parallelism is achieved.
Even on computers with more than one CPU (called multiprocessor machines),
multitasking allows many more tasks to be run than there are CPUs

The project is intended for security purpose over a particular area. A PIR sensor
is fitted with the stepper motor and is rotated to and fro for an angle of about 300
degrees. With a pause for every 30 degrees or so depending on feasibility of
prototype design. The PIR sensor is made to scan in the pause intervals for the
movements if any found on the restricted zone. If it doesn’t find any movement as
suspected it skips and keeps on scanning all over the 300 degrees. And once if it
finds any movement it stops there and triggers the alarm. It can also be made to
give a missed call with the help of landline phone to a mobile number. Or it can
also be made to send sms to specified mobile number with the help of gsm
modem. Or the choice of alert can also be made to remote area with the help of
RF communication, which is cheaper when compared with telephone or gsm
modem based alerting. The project uses the Atmel series of microcontroller.

Abstract
The project uses the vibration sensor for finding the occurrence of accident.
Once the accident is noticed the microcontroller retrieves the latitude and
longitude information from the GPS and sends it to a mobile number and informs
about the accident, the sms is refreshed periodically till anyone presses a switch
to stop. A false triggering prevention is also added to prevent smsing for
vibrations other than accidents. The gadget alarms once it notices a vibration. A
switch is provided to stop if the alarm is triggered mistakenly. Once the alarm is
not stopped for a period of time it automatically sends sms about the location of
accident to the specified mobile number. The project is implemented using the
LPC2129 microcontroller.

Abstract
Tracing a human being is alive or dead, in the mines or in the hazardous places
or in construction areas where a severe land slide can occur and might lead to,
this project is much useful. The project uses the Atmel microcontroller. The
person who works inside the mines should have a belt with him which is to be
held around the abdomen. The belt scans for abdominal movements due to
breathing. The data from the sensor is fed to the microcontroller directly, which is
in turn connected to the rf transmitter via an encoder. The microcontroller in this
section is so programmed such that if it doesn’t get any output from the breath
sensor, it automatically starts sending the persons identity number once for few
minutes. The data from rf transmitter is once received with the isolated base unit,
which is few placed at few meters away from the working location. The data from
the receiver is updated and is processed with microcontroller database. And the
victims name is displayed in the LCD display with alarm signals.

Abstract
Now a day’s accidents rates are increased very much due to the following two
reasons, over speeding & drunken drive. The aim of this is to prevent over
speeding of vehicles and drunken driving of vehicles. Over speeding of vehicles
is identified with the help of dynamo (dc motor) connected to the wheel of the
vehicle. The dynamo has the property, that when its shaft’s are rotated, it
produces voltage corresponding to the rotation. Thus with the help of ADC the
voltage from dynamo is converted to 8 bit digital value and is fed to
microcontroller. The microcontroller then traces the speed from the voltage
output from dynamo and compares with the reference level. If the value exceeds
the microcontroller alerts the driver and reduces the speed. And at once if the
driver is drunken,. The alcohol sensor fitted in vehicle, gives the alert to
microcontroller, and the microcontroller stops the vehicle.

sensors. The vibration sensor triggers the controller when ever there is a very
strong vibration in the vehicle (which usually occurs when ever there is a
accident but the warning starts only after a time delay to prevent the false
triggering when the vehicle happens to pass through a drenched road it beeps for
few seconds before it start informing the remote person the driver can quit the
information to the remote station at any instant before the beep stops by pressing
a control switch. If the person doesn’t press the switch then the project
communicates with the control station. And informs about the zone (which is the
coverage area of the tower) where it was hit by means of strong RF link. In this
model we provide necessary tower, which resembles similar to a cell phone
networking. While the vehicle lies inside the coverage area of the particular
tower, the tower name is displayed in an LCD display at the control station that is
a few meters away.(being a prototype) at the instant of accident, .Each tower is
assigned with unique SERIAL CODES while RF signals are picked by the vehicle
it in turn generates a SERIAL signal which is transmitted to the control station by
a RF transmitter with 433MHz, the RF receiver placed at the control station picks
the RFID signal and demodulates and retrieves back the SERIAL signal. The
SERIAL decoder placed after the receiver section converts the SERIAL tones
into binary codes; the binary data is fed to the micro controller AT89c51 which in
turn drives a LCD, which displays the area information. The data can also be
used to dial a specified number if required.

ULTRASONIC TECHNOLOGY
Abstract
Now a day’s people have their own vehicles to reduce their journey time. And
hence there fore they always prefer to drive fast, but a driver won’t be conscious
in his driving always, which is the main cause of an accident. But actually there
are many ways for cause of accidents irrespective of our project concept; here
we are implementing a project that avoids the rear end collision. Actually we
planned this for trains. But a demo model is expensive and time bounded with
various problems. Hence here we adopted it for vehicles. This kit monitors the
vehicle or the obstacle that is in front of our vehicle. If the distance between
these two is large enough, then the kit allows the driver to go with full
acceleration. But once the distance between the vehicle and the obstacle is
considerably reduced, it applies dynamic breaking. So as to maintain a smooth
follow on. The project uses a microcontroller and an IR or ultrasonic link for
calculation of distance. The ultrasonic is the feasible one, but little costlier. But it
is negligible when considered with a cost of a living being.

93. EMS 2077. AUTOMATIC METER READING SYSTEM
(AT89C52 / ARM 32BIT) USING GSM MODEM
Abstract
The AMR system starts at the meter. Some means of translating readings from
rotating meter dials, or cyclometer style meter dials, into digital form is necessary
in order to send digital metering data from the customer site to a central point.
With the use of Electro-optical interface and Signal Processing Electronics. The
data from the meter is stored in the microcontroller and the each rotation of the
disc is calculated with this optical interface method. The data from the
microcontroller is fed to the gsm modem with the use of serial communication
and AT commands. The gsm modem is a device which is designed for GPRS,
data, fax, SMS and voice applications. Thus the data from the customer site is
transferred to the central monitoring unit. Which is otherwise called as slave
mobile phone or even again a gsm modem can be used to note the reading.
Even if a system is interfaced the data’s can be monitored in a near real time
process. Utilizing an existing cellular network for data transportation requires no
additional equipment or software, resulting in a significant savings in both time
and capital. Cellular technology utilizes an encryption technique to prevent an
outside source from receiving the transmitted data. The cellular network provides
full two-way communications, allowing scheduled reads, demand reads, alarm
and event reporting, power outage reporting and power restoration reporting.

94. EMS 2078. CRYPTOGRAPHIC SECURED COMMUNICATION
FOR MILITARY APPLICATIONS
Abstract
Cryptography is an ancient mathematical science that was originally used for
military communications; it also conceals the contents of a message, thereby
preventing it from falling into the hands of the enemies. Recent developments in
cryptography have added additional uses, including mechanisms for
authenticating users on a network, ensuring the integrity of transmitted
information and preventing users from repudiating (i.e. rejecting ownership of)
their transmitted messages. In today's world of electronic commerce on the
Internet, the need for secure communications is obviously crucial. Cryptographic
technologies provide enterprises with the best mechanisms of protecting their
information, without putting the business at risk by exposing it on the Networking.
Here we are using SHA-1 algorithm for secured message communications. The
project can be implemented in ARM7TDMI environment.

Disconnecting neutral from energy meter will prevent working here we use a
sensor circuit for this process to detect
current reversal tampering,
if the polarity is reversed to current coil, the meter gets affected, here also we
can detect it with using ir sensors
Magnetic tampering.
Magnetic field of good strength will affect the energy meter; this can also be
detected by means of a magnetic sensor circuit.
Any of the above tampering is noticed by the microcontroller and is sms’ed to the
E.B authority number with user address

Abstract
The aim of this project is to monitor the temperature of various points/zones
through wireless, by means of using 433 MHz RF Transmitter- Receiver and
encoder decoder pairs. Here each Transmission end has a temperature sensor,
ADC, Encoder and RF Transmitter. And the common Reception end has an RF
Receiver, Decoder, Microcontroller AT89c51 and Display unit. The temperature
of each zone is monitored by a Temperature sensor and its analog output is fed
to an ADC. This gives corresponding digital value and then encoded and
transmitted via 433 MHz RF Transmitter. The encoder and decoders used here
are of serial data transfer type. In the Receiving end the same value has been
received by the RF receiver. This is then decoded and fed to the microcontroller,
which provides real time display of temperature of various zones

Abstract
The main aim of this project is to reduce the man power, By means of this
project; we will read the energy meter reading from the remote place. Here the
433 MHz RF transmitter and RF Receiver are used for wireless communication
between energy meter and the reading destination for calculating the power
consumption reading. The IR sensor that is connected in the meter senses the
number of counts and sends it to microcontroller. The sensor output is given to
the microcontroller, in order to calculate the cost by counting the number of
rotations. The value is transmitted by means of RF Transmitter. This is fitted in
the energy meter. The remote station consists of an RF transmitter and receiver
pairs. The remote station first sends a request to the energy meter by means of
RF communication the microcontroller fixed in energy meter receives it and
replies back with the cost via the RF transmitter. The data is again then read
back by remote station and is displayed in the LCD display. In Rx section one
key is available. When ever the key is pressed the meter reading will be
displayed in the LCD. The project uses the Atmel at89c51 microcontroller and the

The project uses a pair of IR transceiver pairs; the heart beat is scanned with the
help of this infrared transmitter and receiver that is fixed across the finger. The
hemoglobin in the blood easily disturbs the infrared radiation. The hemoglobin
movement depends on the heartbeat. Thus the heartbeat is monitored with the
infrared sensor and the output of the sensor is fed to the amplifier circuit, and
then to the microcontroller for finding the number of pulses per minute. The
output is displayed in the LCD display. The kit can even make to alert with an

in an LCD display, which is actually placed in the control station that is few
meters away. The TRANSMIITER that is placed with the person emits modulated
RF rays as soon as it receives area information from the tower, Each tower is
assigned with unique serial data codes by serial encoder HT12D and HT 12E
while RF signals are picked by the unit that is with the person. And in turn
generates a serial encoded signal which is transmitted to the control station by a
RF transmitter with 433MHz, the RF receiver placed at the control station picks
the RF signal and demodulates and retrieves back the serial signal. The serial
decoder placed after the receiver section converts the serial data into binary

Abstract
The aim of this project is to automatically control the farm vehicles over a specific
area using GPS technology. Initially the area in which the farm vehicle should be
controlled is determined using GPS, for e.g. the latitude and longitude value for
four corner of land is calculated. This value is stored in the MC for controlling the
vehicle. Now the vehicle to be controlled is connected with GPS and is made to
communicate with MC. The position of farm vehicle, which is determined by the
GPS, is transmitted via rs232 communication to the MC. On finding the position
of the vehicle MC controls the vehicles for which direction it should be operated.
Thus on reaching the corner the vehicle will be directed to move to the other
side, thus maintaining the area of control of the vehicle

Abstract
This project is a model of a bomb detector. For a demo purpose, we assume that
a bomb emits IR rays (actually a bomb contains metal fillings and chemical,
which is violently combustible. The actual sensor is sensible to metals and
chemicals used in bomb). The ROBOT consists of IR receiver and
microcontroller unit, which drive the wheels of the ROBOT via pairs of DC
motors. The receiver pairs placed at the front of the ROBOT resemble that of a
car headlight. The ROBOT revolves round for a valid IR signal from the bomb. If
it picks the IR rays it moves towards it and warns a loud siren about the
presence of bomb. It also gives a voice alert about the presence of the bomb. If
this project is implemented practically with some extra features such as calling to

NETWORKS
Abstract
The artificial image reconstruction project is mainly an algorithm verification
project. We use the C as front which gets the input through the serial
communication from the microcontroller the input is 5 x 5 keypad the data from
the keypad is displayed in a 5 x 5 matrix display the data from the keypad is fed
to the PC via the serial port the C program reads the data and checks it for the
correct format using various possible algorithm of neural network then the
corrected output is generated and is displayed in a LED array via the PC parallel
port.
136. EMS 2120. TRANSFORMER OVER-HEAT PROTECTION WITH
INTIMATION TO EB
Abstract
Overheating of transformer occurs due to overload or sudden short
circuit in the secondary side distribution area or may be due to climatic condition
or even corrosion due to weathering or aging. The cause may be the any of the
above or all together but the reaction is the blackout of power or brownout of
transformer accompanied with fire accidents. So these kinds of problems are to 43, North Masi Street, Opposite of Krishnana Kovil, Simmakkal, Madurai – 9

be monitored properly. Here we use a temperature sensor lm35 3 pin monolithic
sensor. The data from the sensor is fed to the microcontroller, the microcontroller
notes that the temperature never exceeds the safe limits. And if it notices that the
temperature is above the safe limit, it sends the temperature reading AND output
terminal voltage to the E.B station with transformer location, which is already
programmed in the microcontroller. The communication with E.B station can be
established with two ways, one with the gsm modem or with the rf module. The
thing to be considered is the cost. The gsm modem is much costlier and to be
paid for mobile network with which sim card was purchased. The RF module
costs less but with some limitations, Such as range and disturbance of signal
with electromagnetic disturbance from surroundings. The project uses an Atmel
8051 microcontroller.
137. REMOTE SENSING AND CONTROL OF AN IRRIGATION
SYSTEM USING A DISTRIBUTED WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORK
Abstract
Efficient water management is a major concern in many cropping systems in
semiarid and arid areas. Distributed in-field sensor-based irrigation systems offer
a potential solution to support site-specific irrigation management that allows
producers to maximize their productivity while saving water. This paper describes
details of the design and instrumentation of variable rate irrigation, a wireless
sensor network, and software for real-time in-field sensing and control of a site-

specific precision linear-move irrigation system. Field conditions were site-
specifically monitored by six in-field sensor stations distributed across the field
based on a soil property map, and periodically sampled and wirelessly
transmitted to a base station. An irrigation machine was converted to be
electronically controlled by a programming logic controller that updates
georeferenced location of sprinklers from a differential Global Positioning System
(GPS) and wirelessly communicates with a computer at the base station.
Communication signals from the sensor network and irrigation controller to the
base station were successfully interfaced using low-cost zigbee wireless radio
communication. Graphic user interface-based software developed in this paper
offered stable remote access to field conditions and real-time control and
monitoring of the variable-rate irrigation controller.
The development, testing, and use of an integrated distributed wireless sensor
network (WSN) that utilizes zigbee technology are presented in this paper for
sensor-based variable rate irrigation systems. The WSN eliminates the need to
hard wire sensor stations across the field and reduces installation and
maintenance costs. The WSN uses an zigbee network, i.e., a mobile wireless
network. Compared with a wireless local area network (WLAN), zigbee networks
have advantages for agricultural applications, because the mobility and self
configuration are more suitable for a distributed sensor network in fields. The
objective of this paper is to report the design, construction, and testing of a
distributed in-field WSN, a remote sprinkler head valve control, and user-friendly
software for real time in-field sensing and control of a variable rate irrigation
system.
