The Stuhr Center Remembrance Garden is one of those “special” places that people are able to go outside and contemplate the beauty which surrounds them. Thanks to our Beaverton Garden Club volunteers (pictured below) we are enjoying this garden better than ever this year. The Garden was planted last season with a tribute to flowers in pink for women’s breast cancer awareness. If you have a chance to wander out to the northeast side of the Stuhr Center, please stop, pause and enjoy the beauty and work that this ladies have done for us.
Thank you to our garden volunteers!
Another part of this lovely garden is our roses. The roses are now being attended by Bodi Bruus, who has replaced 4 new plants and the rose garden has never looked better!
Thank you Brodi!!
Did you know you can pay a tribute to a friend or family member or for yourself by donating for these areas? We would love to plant a flower in your honor or as a memorial to someone, just ask us how.

News from Linda Jo
Dear Center Members: Greetings, as we begin with events that will take us outside to enjoy the sun as we welcome summer! Did you know we have a complete walking path(s) around the park and building that give you a chance to take it outside for your daily stroll (stop by our office for a path map.) Speaking of outside our annual Stuhr BBQ will take place Friday, July 19 from 11:30-1:30 and features live
entertainment and fabulous Stuhr grilled hamburgers. A concert on the patio will be held Tuesday, August 23 from noon-2 pm with lunch available through our in-house “café”. You are also invited to a Newcomers Welcome if you have not had a tour of the center with a chance to ask our about our classes, events and tours on Wednesday, June 5, 10 am. Let’s not forget our Anniversary Party for couples married 40 years or more featuring entertainment and refreshments held Friday, June 7 at 1:30 pm. One of our favorite events, that you won’t want to miss, is our Harvest Bazaar Kickoff Party held Wednesday, June 26 at 2 pm. This event allows us to get together and talk about this year’s fund raiser, including meeting our volunteers and welcoming new ones. So there is no excuse to not have a great time this summer at the Elsie Stuhr Center. For these and many more events please pick up a THPRD Summer Activities Guide or call 503/629-6347 and we would be happy to help you.

The Shred It program is back! Due to the completion of a grant from Washington County and for your safety, we have hired the Shred-It company to come in weekly to shred (onsite) confidential papers. Because it now requires us to pay a monthly fee we are asking for a small donation to cover the cost. It will, once again, be placed in the Pine Room for your convenience. We ask that you limit it to one brown grocery bag a week. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hyde Park on Hudson Friday, June 14 Cedar Room 1 pm In June 1939, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor, host the King and Queen of England for a weekend at the Roosevelt home at Hyde Park on Hudson in upstate New York in the first-ever visit of a reigning English monarch to America. With Britain facing imminent war with Germany, the Royals are desperately looking to FDR for support. But international affairs must be juggled with the complexities of FDR's domestic establishment, as wife, mother and mistresses all conspire to make the royal
weekend an unforgettable one. Seen through the eyes of Daisy, Franklin's neighbor and intimate, the weekend will produce not only a special relationship between two great nations, but, for Daisy, a deeper understanding of the mysteries of love and friendship. Rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America for brief sexuality. Starring: Bill Murray, Laura Linney, Samuel West, Olivia Colman, Elizabeth Marvel
The Guilt Trip Friday, June 28 Cedar Room 1 pm Andy Brewster is about to go on the road trip of a lifetime...accompanied by his overbearing mother Joyce. After deciding to start his adventure with a quick visit at mom’s, Andy gets guilted into taking her along for the ride. As they cross 3,000 miles, he is constantly aggravated by her antics, but over time he comes to realize that they actually have more in common than he originally thought, and in fact, his mother’s advice might end up being exactly
what he needs. Rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America for language and some risqué material. Starring: Barbra Streisand, Seth Rogen, Brett Cullen, Colin Hanks, Adam Scott
