Ouch In my bed, I usually dread, All the things that lay ahead. School tomorrow, I just realized, There's a book I need to borrow! In my bed, I might just drop dead, Into my comfy blue bedspread. My pillows are fluffed, My mattress is stuffed I think it could be a little more puffed. In my bed, I see my fan, Spinning overhead, Oh dear it appears I have misread, The directions for putting together my bed. So when I fall off, I probably cry, Now I think you’ve heard enough, Good-bye.

Candy and Costumes

Halloween is not a bore,

Princesses and Vikings galore,

And there is always candy scattered,

Everywhere over the floor.

We are outside way past,

When the sun was seen last,

With our friends from school,

Our costumes are pretty cool.

We wander around,

Looking astound,

At all the creative costumes,

Coming out of haunted rooms.

Halloween is not about politeness,

These kids don’t care!

All they need,

And all their greed,

Is driven by a sugar bead,

Also known as candy.

Near-Death Experience

I see my long lovely life,

I see my mother planting flowers,

And my father hosting barbeques.

Images of my brother,

Playing in the yard,

And images of all of them,

Eating dinner happily.

I can see my father,

Hoisting me up onto his shoulders.

And I can hear my mother,

Reading books to me.

My brother playing with cars,

And running across the grass.

I can smell the scent of my mother cooking,

Making my favorite dinner,

I can taste the warm tenderness,

Of the perfectly cooked steak.

I can feel my father hugging me,

Tightly with his strong arms,

He holds me close,

And I can feel his breath,

Blowing down my neck.

Suddenly I am thrown out of this dream,

And back into reality,

Where the truck in front of me,

Has jammed its breaks on with perfect timing.
