For 2006, the company raises the bar higher with the Elite 1500 Angle Range Compensation (ARC). This new model incorporates an inclinometer that provides bow hunters with true horizontal distance and “hold-over” information for rifle hunters. In the Bow Mode, archery hunters can determine the true horizontal distance from 5 to 9 meters with shooting angles of -60 to +60 degrees from their tree stand to their target. The Elite 1500 ARC uses a formula to eliminate the guesswork involved in determining whether to aim high or low. Rifle hunters taking extreme uphill or downhill shots can determine the necessary “hold-over” from 100 to 550 meters. The Elite 1500 ARC offers rifle hunters five different ballistic groups to match their caliber and bullet weights. Operation is simple, and at the push of a button, the internal LCD display will show the distance to the selected target. In the Bow Mode, a separate reading will show the true horizontal distance in yards along with the degree of angle. The same formula will work for rifle hunters who are faced with extreme uphill or downhill shots and who want to determine hold over on long-range shots. In order to accommodate the ballistic differences between different calibers and loads, the user must select from one of five ballistic groups. The Elite 1500 ARC then calculates the uphill or downhill angle and bullet drop or holdover data in inches (up to 99 cm) for shots ranging from 100 to 550 meters. The Elite 1500 ARC has the same ranging capability as the standard Elite 1500. It will range distances from 5 to 1465 meters. A 26mm objective, fully multi-coated optics and 7x eyepiece provide bright, crisp images at any distance. The twist-up eyepiece makes it easier to use with eyeglasses and a +/-2 diopter setting allows the user to adjust the in-view LCD display focus to the user’s eyesight. The Elite 1500 ARC is available in Mossy Oak Break Up camouflage. It is designed to fit comfortably in the hand. It is 100 percent waterproof and the lenses are coated with Bushnell’s RainGuard®, a permanent water repellant coating system that prevents fogging from rain, snow or cold temperatures. For better viewing during dusk and dawn operation, there is an internal low-light LED that makes it easy to find the reticle and read the distances. A 9-volt battery powers the Elite 1500 ARC, and it comes with premium carrying case.
