• Los padres de Carlos quieren que él tenga buenas notas. Ellos insisten en que el sea alumno bueno.

The subjunctive require a change in subject.
• Yo quiero ser piloto.
• Este verano yo quiero ir a Hawaii.
• Mi hermano quiere tener mucho dinero.
• Quiero paz en mi vida
• Mi mamá quiere que yo sea un doctor.
• Mi mamá quiere que yo vaya a escuela de verano.

• Someone wants to influence the actions of others (or the outcome of something)
• Someone is emotional about the actions of others (or the outcome of something)
• Someone doubts the actions of others (or the outcome of something)
• Someone is not sure that someone or something exists or denies that he, she or it exists.
• There are hypothetical situations about the past, present or future
• Quiero que vengan todos mis amigos a mi fiesta el viernes.
• Me alegro que mis padres no estén en la casa durante la fiesta .
• Dudo que a mis padres les guste la idea de una fiesta grande.
