A Message From Our Principal

We are almost in May which means the weather is getting nicer and our calen-dars are quickly filling up! I know that it can be extremely difficult to juggle all the events that come with the end of the year, but I am excited and appre-ciative that we have the opportunity to end the year with such wonderful cele-brations. We have had a great year here at Beck and I would like to thank our amazing faculty and staff for their unyielding dedication to our students. I am also extremely thankful for our supportive PTSA who is always there to lend a hand and supports us on a daily basis. While I know that students and parents may be counting down the days, it is important that we stay focused and finish strong.

Please remember that we will begin state testing on May 8th and it is critical for students to be at school on time to avoid make up testing. Please try to limit early dismissals and absences as much as possible. Our testing calendar is posted on our website so that you can plan appointments accordingly. Once a student has started testing they cannot be dismissed early until they complete the testing for that day. Generally testing lasts 3 ½ hours however the test is untimed so some students may take longer.

Our Student Appreciation Day will be held on June 4th and is a great way full day celebration for our students. This day requires a great deal of support from our PTSA and parent volunteers. Please be sure to visit our PTSA volunteer page as the day draws closer to view our sign up genius.

Finally, we will be honoring our students and all their accomplishments at our annual awards day assembly. The assemblies will be held on Monday, June 3rd at the times listed below and parents of students receiving awards will be noti-fied in advance.

Week of May 6-10! It’s that time of year again to celebrate the AMAZING staff at Beck. We want to thank them for all their hard work! What better way to pamper our staff than a week of fun, food, and prizes. Staff Appreciation Week will run from Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 10 and each day will celebrate the staff.

Volunteers are needed to serve treats to our staff daily and baked goods are needed.

tion of The Lion King, Jr.

Tickets are now live on www.showtix4u.com. Type "Lion King, Jr." into the search engine

and then click on Beck International Academy at JL Mann Auditorium Greenville (do not

type "The" Lion King, Jr. because nothing will show up). All tickets must be purchased

online.

STUDENT APPRECIATION DAY JUNE 4, 2019 We are currently planning for Student Appreciation Day on June 5th. This is a great day of fun filled activities for our students. There will be a dodgeball tournament, DJ dance party, Photo Booth, In-flatables, basketball, crafts and more. Please remember that this special day is a reward for our students and they must exhibit good behavior in order to participate. Students who have attended alternative school, served more than 10 cumulative days of out of school suspension, or who have been suspended or have served ISS after April 1st will not participate. Students who owe fees/fines for textbooks, locks, and/or library will not be allowed to participate in the activities. Students who need to make up end of year tests due to absences will not be able to participate until the tests are completed. Deadlines for paying fees and fines is Friday, May 31st. Students not participating will be given work to complete for a grade. They will not be allowed to participate in any of the ac-tivities including yearbook signing. Yearbooks will be distributed to students that day. Additional yearbooks will be available for purchase on a first come, first served basis. Dress Code: Greenville County Dress Code applies for those who are able to participate. Those unable to participate are required to wear Beck Academy Dress Code attire.

Publix Partners – There is a change this year from year’s past: no more school rewards cards. Publix is implementing a new way of tracking our reward dollars. Please go to PUB-LIX.COM. Choose MY ACCOUNT. LOGIN (create a login if you don’t already have one). Go to MY PUBLIX PARTNER. Then SELECT A SCHOOL. Then select BECK PTSA. When you check out at Publix, you will enter the phone number you provide on their keypad, which is also the credit/debit card reader, and Beck will receive a portion of your purchases. This adds up for us. Publix is very generous to continue this program year after year. As a bonus, if you’re into clip-ping digital coupons, all of your coupons will be linked to the same phone number on checkout. Digital coupons also available at PUBLIX.COM.

That’s all you have to do to get rewards deals and for Beck to get a little extra change in our pocket from a generous grocery donor. Smile.Amazon.com – Amazon has pretty much everything you need for back to school and supplies throughout the school year. Please consider going into smile.amazon.com (instead of Amazon.com), and registering for the charity of your choice to receive a bit of a rebate from Amazon. And we hope you will choose BECK PTSA. Please share this information with your family and friends. Even those who are not local can support our local school by making this one small change if they shop at Smile.Amazon.com!

Box Tops for Education – Please keep clipping those Box Tops and save them for our school. We will have a couple of Box Top drive programs this year with rewards going to the class with the most collected. Each Box Top might only look like a dime to you, but if we all work together, those dimes again add up. There is a box for BOX TOP donations located in the front office. Collect and drop off anytime.

Beck Backers – 100% of every dollar you donate goes to benefit this school, and it’s all tax de-ductible too! We use the money to fund teacher grants and supplies, and support school func-tions throughout the school year. Information about becoming a Beck Backer can be found in your back to school packets, on the school website, and on the PTSA website. Donations can be made by check or online.

Because we are a non-profit organization, and because public schools can use all the funding we can get, we try to make the most out of programs like the ones listed above. Please put these programs on your back-to-school checklist and help us help our school!

Sweet Treat Days are back! Sweet Treat Days are two day sales of special

items offered during lunch. Under State law, we are allowed “exemption

days,” when groups can fundraise by selling snacks that are outside the

strict new USDA nutritional guidelines. We had more success with these

sales over the past three years than the school store, and the kids REAL-

LY enjoyed having the occasional treats. We’ll still need parent volun-

teers at these monthly events, so please consider helping. Sweet Treats

can only be purchased with CASH.

2018-2019 L.I.F.T.

We are continuing our afterschool L.I.F.T. program this school year to pro-vide students with additional opportunities to receive instruction and retake assessments, if needed. Please click here for additional information on the program. If your student needs bus transportation home from the program you can find a L.I.F.T. bus permission form here as well as a tentative list of dates that the program will be held.
