A Global Teacher
As defined by an anonymous writer, global teachers do not just use modern ways of teaching or utilize
modern devices for improved learning, but also has a hearta heart that tenderly cares for every
individual and a hand that gently holds every learners mind to be a great contribution to the world.
Responding to the call of globalization has multiple ways. It does not say that one should just go on with
the trends and realities of the much modernized world. Rather, ones response should awaken a sense,
an initiative to curb illiteracy, to curtail the lack of knowledge.
A global teacher is neither the one equipped with the latest gadgets nor the one that gets much
attention in the social media. Though, he has the guts to be a trendsetter. He has the courage to show
the world that he is not just a typical teacher with a routinary life but has a life of epic journeys,
exploration to find new channels of learning.
A global teacher is not the one exploring various parts of the globe nor gains the most international
recognition. Though, he is the kind of teacher that his students are proud of, the one they can boast
wherever they go. In that way, he is deemed as a global teacher since he prepared students to face the
world, well equipped and with all wit and enthusiasm.
A global teacher does not even bother to receive honors from the best universities of the world.
Pursuing MAs and PhDs from universities of his home can be considered as a powerful weapon to play
in this intellectually challenged society. In this way, students with teachers of higher learning will be
inspired to show how they can respond to the demands of global education.
We may come up with various characteristics of a global teacher, but pictures are worth more than athousand words. We may not see it, but our own teachers can be global teachers through what they
convey us, the knowledge they share, and their way of life. Simple intellect, a heart of gold, a desire to
inspire is what makes a global teacher.
