INTRODUCTION

This is the annual issue of A Catalogue of Data in theStatistical information Centre, first published by theDepartment of Indian Affairs and Northern Development in March1971. Material is updated on a continuing basis.ard coversaspects of the Administration, Parks Canada, Indian and EskimoAffairs and Northern Development Programs.

All of the data are stored in the Statistical Information Centrein the Centennial Tower, Ottawa, and are available in 'Ole languagein which they are listed in the catalogue. Most are in the formof separate documents enabling specific itemg to be photocopiedand supplied to users. Specific requests should be sent directto the Information Centre as outlined on page 4. Every effortwill be made to meet such demands speedily and accurately althoughthe Centre reserves the right to deny requests which it feelsare not justified in terms of the cost and labour int/olved.

For users in the nctawa area, the Centre maintains a small libraryof _statistical reference books which may be used on the premises.Unfortunately, it is not possible to extend this service to thoseat distant points.

Le ministere des Affaires indiennes et du Nord presente lecatalogue annuel de donnees du Centre d'information statistique,dont la premiere edition remonte au mois de mars 1971.Le repertoire, sans cesse remis A Jour, touche divers aspects derelatifs des programmes A l'Administration, aux Parcs Canada, auxAffaires indiennes et esquimaudes et au développement du Nordcanadien.

Le Centre d'information statistique detient toutes les donneesA la Tour du Centenaire a Ottawa. Disponibles dans la langueayant servi A leur inscription .au catalogue, ces donnees sontpour la plupart sous forme de documents separes, ce_qui en simplifiela photocopie et la distribution. Une demande precise doit_parvenirau centre selon les instructions figurant en page 4. Nous feronsl'impossible pour repondre aux demandes avec rapidite et precision.Toutefois, le centre se reserve le droit de refuser les demandesqui ne justifieraient pas le travail et le coat qu'elles exigent.

Pour les usagers d'Ottawa, le centre possEde une bibliotheque dereference pour consultation sur place. Malheureusement, nous nepouvons offrir ce service aux gens de l'exterieur.
