The Sleaford Renewable Energy Plant is a straw-fired power

station being commissioned in Lincolnshire. The project will

generate 38.5MWe using proven, efficient technology

specifically designed for the clean combustion of straw.

Straw is already produced as a

residue of wheat production

and does not displace food

production.

The CO2 emitted when straw is

burned is equal to the CO2

absorbed as it grows. Hence,

electricity generation from straw

is virtually carbon neutral.

Nutrients are recycled

by incorporating fly ash

in fertiliser products.
