SILICONE SEALANT (EXPORT)

Our instructions are based on extensive investigations and experience. In view of the large variety of materials and the conditions under which our products are applied, no responsibility can be assumed for the results obtained and/or any damage caused from the use of the product. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Permanently flexible, silicone rubber-based sealant.

FIELD OF APPLICATION Types: Sanitary: Especially formulated for sanitary and

ceramic application, like sealing joints between tiles and bath, shower, wash-basin and work tops. The types Sanitary contain fungicides. The risk of mould growth, due to soap rests in dark, damp rooms is minimum. Do not use types Sanitary for aquaria, because they are harmful to fish.

Universal: For sealing joints, gaps and cracks in buildings, like joints between concrete structures (expansion joints), gaps between wall and window-frame, cracks between stone, wood, metal, etc. Very suitable for application to cellular concrete elements (Durox). Also suitable for joining and bonding glass, plexiglas (polyacrylic glass), glazed materials, plastics, enamel, metals, glass terraria, water basins, glass battery jars, shop windows, show cases and double glazing constructions. Not suitable for aquariums.

Construction:

For sealing joints, gaps and cracks in buildings, like joints between concrete structures (expansion joints), gaps between wall and window-frame, cracks between stone, wood, metal, etc. Very suitable for application to cellular concrete elements (Durox). Also for acrylic baths and plastic shower cubicles. Neutral. Elasticity-retaining.

PROPERTIES Dilutability: do not dilute. Temp. resistance: – 50°C up to + 150°C. Frost resistance: very good. Resistance to moisture: very good. Resistance to chemicals: very good. Density: Sanitary and Universal: ± 1.0. Construction: transp. ± 1.0; colours ± 1.4 Overpaintability: cannot be overpainted: the paint does not adhere to the silicone rubber.

APPLICATION Surface treatment: The joints to be sealed must be entirely dry, clean and free from dust, rust and grease. Tools: Cartridges: ‘Bison Sealant Gun’. Application temperature: Do not use below + 5°C and above + 40°C. Coverage: joint joint tube cartr. width depth 80 ml 310 ml 5 mm 5 mm 3.2 m 11.2 m 8 mm 8 mm 1.2 m 4.4 m

10 mm 10 mm 0.8 m 2.8 m 12 mm 12 mm – 1.9 m 15 mm 15 mm – 1.3 m 20 mm 20 mm – 0.8 m Directions for use: Cut off the sealed nozzle end of the cartridge near the screw thread to obtain an opening with a diameter of 10 mm. Screw the supplied plastic applicator nozzle firmly onto the cartridge and bevel it to obtain a minimum bead diameter of 5 mm. Insert Bison Silicone Sealant down to the bottom of the joint. Do not treat too large areas simultaneously. Smoothing of the sealant may present trouble then because of the fast curing process. Smooth the paste at once with a wet finger or a wet putty knife. In smoothing vertical joints work from the bottom upwards. Add a little detergent to the water to facilitate the smoothing of the joint. The application of masking tape to either side of the joint ensures completely smooth sealant beads. After the bead is completed and smoothed, remove the masking tape at once. In case of movement joints the sealant should adhere only to the two sides of the joint but never to the side facing the bottom of the joint. Back the bottom of the joint with foam backing strip or tape it off with polyethylene film. Fill wide joints with a circular backing strip. Bison Silicone Sealant is not suitable for outdoor pointing of glazed, ceramic and smooth wall cladding. Both the material and the sealant may become black. Tar and bitumen surfaces as well as black rubber profiled tape are not suited because they discolour the silicone sealant. When sealing porous materials, synthetic materials, metals, wood and stone first use Bison Universal Silicone Primer. Apply a thin coat of primer. After 15 minutes drying the Silicone Sealant can be applied. Synthetic materials must be roughened first.

STAINS Remove wet stains with thinner. As dry stains and traces of Silicone Sealant are no longer soluble, allow them to swell by means of a paintstripper or white spirit and remove them mechanically (with a sharp knife).
