T h e heart of any good security locking device is the lock case and its w ork in g m echanism . Baldwin's locksm iths carefully assem ble each lock individually . T h e lock case is constructed of heavy-gauge steel w ith an armored front plate that resists tampering. Standard is a j im m y-proof heavy dead bolt w ith a full 1" throw plus hardened steel roller-type inserts that resist sawing.T h e precisely made lock cylinder has a full f ive-p in tum bler operation.

It is th is ex trem e concern for detail that m akes Baldwin m ortise locks superior to other types of door locks and provides the added security so necessary today.

Baldwin m anufactures tw o basic Heavy D uty M ortise Locks. The on ly difference is the w idth of the front plate, w hich is made to accommodate various door th icknesses . The standard size heavy steel case is phosphatized and rustproof painted. It is sm ooth , easy to m ortise into the various doors and w il l precisely fit all decorative trim made for this type of 2-3/4" backset lock.A 1" dead bolt throw (length of travel) is standard on these locks.

All Baldwin locks are carefully made to conform to the standards adopted by the American Standards Association and Federal G overnm ent Regulations.

Before se lecting the proper m ortise lock and decorative trim for your door, it is very important to first determine the hand of the door on w hich you w il l be install ing the lock, the type of door (wood or metal) and the door thickness. T h e side rail (stile) m ust be at least 4-1/4" wide to receive the lock case. T h ese points are so often over looked and can result in a return order charge, if the w ron g lock is ordered.

The hand of a door for a m ortise lock is always determined from the outside. The outside of an exterior door is the street or entrance side. T h e outside of a s ingle com m unicat ing door is the side from which the h inges are hidden w h en the door is closed. All interior door hardware is com pletely reversible.

W hen ordering a com plete lockset, be sure to specify m ortise lock function, number, trim design, f inish, hand of door, type of door, and door thickness.

Beveled Fronts - for use on doors to afford a closer fit in to the door frame (standard bevel is 1/8" on a 2" thick door). Reversible Latch Bolts - this can be accomplished on m ost locks, but should on ly be done by a qualified individual. H eavy 1" T h row Dead Bolt - w ith saw -proof inserts for an extra m easure of locking security.Keying - a great num ber of locks may be keyed alike.H old Back - by pressing a stop button on the lock face, the m anually retracted latch bolt is held in, convert ing the door to a fre e -sw in g in g operation.
