Home 2013-2014
The most notable thing we did this year? It wasn’t one thing. It was countless little things that eventually turned into pretty big things, like first steps, first words and new ways to communicate. And it was all done with unparalleled passion, dedication and expertise. We did this. Every. Single. Day.
Because we possess this passion, dedication and expertise in spades, it seeps seamlessly, and fantastically, into everything we do. Teachers and therapists work closely with familiesto identify goals for every child’s independence. With the support of a dedicated team thatalso includes assistants, nurses, social workers and bus drivers, the children we serve areachieving their goals and reaching their potential. This is accomplished through an adaptedcurriculum, specialized therapy, innovative technology and an integrative approach.
We know that we successfully achieve our mission as a result of our staff. We also knowthey are the very reason families choose Easter Seals. With that in mind, we have found twoways for the community to further benefit from their expertise. First, we have opened an in-clusive preschool, The Friendship Academy, which allows families to access certified teach-ers and paraprofessionals. It is a research driven and enriched program that provides anexciting, stimulating and developmentally age appropriate learning environment. Second, wehave created a blog that is primarily written by teachers and therapists. Their blog postsfeature tips and information that can be helpful to parents, grandparents and family mem-bers of children of any ability.
We are proud, that as a mission based organization, our success is defined in our work tohelp people with disabilities gain greater independence.
