TUCKNOTT RECEIVES FORENSIC LITIGATION CONSULTANT CERTIFICATION
“I started slowly the Forensic phase of our business about 10 years ago,” he explains. “Currently about 50% of my time is spent do-ing forensics and forensic electrical investigations testifying in court cases, and representing insurance companies and disputes involving electrical,” he says.Tucknott Electric specializes in electrical construction and main-tenance for residential, commercial and industrial applications. “We also provide Forensic Electrical Expert Witness work to clients throughout California and Neva-da,” Tucknott now states regularly at association events.“I first got into the industry after I finished a four-year apprenticeship and worked three years in anoth-er Electrical Contractor’s office learning to manage a business and prepare estimates,” he says. December 31st Deadline for 2016 Early-Bird Membership Deal!On the success of a similar offer the past couple of years, the East Bay Claims Association Board of Directors has elected to offer-up a bit of a reward for
returning members for the coming year, as well as an enticement for new members. “We really appreciate all the support this organization has enjoyed the past several years,” stated EBCA President Joe Baughman. Overall membership and meeting attendance has been consistent and substantial. Still, the sense that there aren’t many adjusters at any given function remains pervasive. “As with all our sister groups, we continue to encourage the carrier claims people and independent adjusters participate, and to become more involved,” Joe added. “East Bay Claims Association is always committed to maintaining a high degree of professional courtesy within our ranks.”
The organization has been actively taking measures to continue to raise its standing within the community, as well.As an established charitable 501c(3) non-profit organization, EBCA has added the status of the Continuing Education Provider credential to the reasons to be more involved. There seems to be a bit of a revival of carriers supporting their claims people joining and supporting their local associations. The EBCA Board has opted to continue to offer annual FREE Member-ships to insurance claims adjusters. Completion and submission of a simple membership application now allows all such claims people the benefits of membership. The Early-Bird discount amounts to a 10% savings off the normal annual membership dues. Beginning October 1, 2015, and running through the end of the year, current members may renew for just $45 for individuals, or $90 for Corporate membership (three people per corporate membership - multiple corporate memberships accepted). New members joining for the first time receive the balance of the current year and all of 2015. Sign up or renew now at EastBayAdjusters.org.

Porto on Fire Investigations at Nov EBCABy Lynna Harrison
Standing-in for President Joe Baughman in his absence was Past President and current Ed-ucation Chair, Jodi Devillier, who began the meeting by acknowledging all military veterans. “we thank you for your service,” she said.Guest speaker Phillip Porto, of Unified Investigations & Sciences, presented a look at Fire Investiga-tions; their purpose, science em-ployed, and how to manage a fire claim scene.“One of the most important things when investigating a fire damage claim is to preserve the evidence and keep the responder's interest in mind," he stated. The origin and the cause of the fire at the scene must be investigated thoroughly. They are not always what they seem.“You want to seek recovery when possible,” he advised. “Be sure to ask interested parties a lot of ques-
