For teachers in grades 4-12: District Expectations for the use of Canvas in January are to create 4 or more Schoolwork assignments, and have Discussions for each group. Continue creating assignments or quizzes. Put student materials into Pages for student and parent access. Continue posting weekly news letters in Calendar. 2. For all teachers, administrators, and parents: Digital Learning Day for 2017 is coming up on February 23. Go to the website here: Digital Learning Day. With so many new types of digital devices, educational software and mobile apps continuously developed, it’s hard to keep up with the latest and greatest advancements in educational technology. Fun technology fact: Whether Star Trek or Star Wars, tractor beams have become a staple of sci-fi films, but their real-world counterparts cannot yet compare, as you might suspect. Still, physicists have developed a laser that can attract or repel objects. Dr. Vladlen Shvedov and Dr. Cyril Hnatovsky, Laser Physics Centre, Research School of Physical Sciences and Engineering, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, have demonstrated their tractor laser beam, which is bright around the outside and dark in the middle. The beam can move an object that is 0.2mm a distance of 200mm – 100 times further than previous experiments.
